  • Is the one with memory card good deal or not?

    • yeah its ok, but I will just buy memory card from MSY or another deal that will inevitably come up.

  • if u worry about the security, put the cam with static local ip and then raise a firewall rule for that to block all outbound traffic.

if u REALLY worry abt the security, dont but/use any IP cam, regardless the brand. they will be able to utilised for zombie network construction, not only for Chinese but also for USA's, Russian, Israel or our gov.

  • seems out of stock at present? for camera only option

    • Camera only option available again

  • Any chance for stock coming back? Camera only option

    • Camera only option available again

      • thanks for letting me know! ordered 3

  • Portable? Really? I can't see any lithium-ion battery inside?

    • Portable? Really? I can't see any lithium-ion battery inside?

      Did you open one?

  • Every man and his dog seems to be buying one of these.
That makes me feel like i should buy one.

It just looks like a lot of trouble.
I didn't understand all the big words in the guides to stop the Chinese Communist Party accessing it.
I've just got a wireless hotspot thingy coming out of my mobile.

Maybe if i stick this on the door peep hole i can see who shows up to visit.
    Can i do that?
But then i need a cable to power it i think - that would be a hassle too.

Someone give me the final push i need to buy this, before they sell out.
    Hurry up.

    • JUST BUY IT! :)
I have got one from a previous deal and if attached to a powerbank it can go on for a couple of days :)

    • +1

especially buy if you have a dog.
u can see what they get up to while you're at work.
i have suspicions mine is making blue meth with the cat

      • +2

I just purchased one to keep an eye on the cats while we're out. If they are making meth I want a cut.

  • Does mi home works after the hack?

  • purchased 2 x cameras, but have received 3 x emails from Shoppingsquare to confirm my eBay purchase details.

    Anyone experiencing anything similar?

    GC

  • +1

estimated handling time 7-14 days.. not to happy about that..

    anyones order shipped yet?

    • +1

haven't received any confirmation/shipping details yet, just 3 x email requesting proof of purchase

      • Yeah paid my money on 30 Apr and not yet shipped. Sounds like we've been scammed by false promises of shipping times.

Changing my vote to a negative as a potential warning to others.

        • Hi julz
did you receive your item yet?
please contact our team if your item still hasn't arrive.
or PM me, I might able to help
          cheers
          Dan

  • Order shipped :D

    • Same. Shipped too

      • so will take it 2-3 from now?

  • received the camera. stuck on step one: struggling to get the app to pair with camera :S

  • Was a pain to pair one of the two I received today but appears to be working OK now. Not so happy with the half Chinese app but really expected that I suppose. Pairing is a bit silly, but I simple enough once it actually works. Firmware updating seemed to work, although dropped connection and appeared to fail on both, only for them to appear to be updated afterwards… shrug?

Will play a bit more with these soon. One is working a lot better than the other, wi-fi wise for some reason.

  • Can someone post an easy set up guide/tutorial? I dont have a spare SD card so not going to do any hacks for the moment. Just want to get it set up so I can see how it works. I noticed on one youtube video they said not to update the firmware, because it makes the camera only usable in China?

    • +1

never mind. actually very simply to set up. Download Mi Home app on your phone, click the setup button on the camera and follow the prompts, when you make the Xiaomi account make sure you put location as China. Very easy to do. It is great! Good little surveillance camera and I love how you can speak e.g. if someone is at the door you can let them know you'll be there in a second. Nice wide angle view and good quality, can make out the faces quite well.

Can you monitor it over 4G? Also want to know how I set up to get alerts when motion is detected, would be good if it could email a picture when something is detected, or is that too advanced for this haha? Will buy some SD cards soon and look at the hacks available.

Comes with Chinese power adapter for anyone interested. So I have mine plugged into PC USB. So either need an Australian adapter or a power board with USB ports/PC etc nearby.

  • Might be a silly question but is the hack needed to access the camera from outside the wifi network that the camera is connected to?

I thought it was viewable outside the network but only with the Mi Home app.

Was working ok when connected to my wifi last night, but isn't today when I tried accessing it from work. Maybe the camera powered down or something…

  • Anyone upgrade to firmware 3.0.4.9 and have any issues? the app keeps prompting me to do so, but reading a comment on a YouTube video earlier makes me think I shouldn't do it? Apparently it stops the camera from working unless you are in China.

Also kinda annoying when you get notifications on your phone written in Chinese.. wish they would translate the app 100% to English.

    • Both of mine are on version 3.0.4.9 and are working fine. After reading around I thought that must have been the issue (hence my post asking if I needed the hack), not really sure what was wrong yesterday as it's working perfectly fine today.

I'm using Mi Home version 4.0.11 though, apparently the new version of the app has geo-blocking.

Can confirm multiple places saying what you've described though. Here's a thread pertaining to it:
      http://en.miui.com/thread-465735-1-1.html

      • Yeah, not sure what to do. its annoying having it pop up asking me to update all the time, but I don't want to brick it!

Also the motion detection is frustrating, sends a notification to phone even when nothing is really happening. too sensitive, even on the lowest setting.

The other issue I found is night vision is not good if you have the camera facing outside. The red sensors cause a big bright white reflection on the glass and the picture is not clear, it works well indoors though.

  • Got two today and one has connection issues. Continually dropping connection.

After purchasing the yi version 6mths back these don't come close to the clarity of night vision that the yi has. The night vision is rubbish.

    • Hey.. can you link the old deal for this to one's?

      • Hey.. can you link the old deal for this YI* ones*?

  • +2

    Not recvd yet.. 😐

    • +2

Same, negative ebay feedback coming soon

    • Same. And I'm reading that a lot of people are having major issues in particular to them not working outside of China.. all well, I'm sure the hack firmware will continue to evolve…

    • +1

yup.. not received! eBay still saying 'The estimated delivery date for this item is Jun. 2. If you haven't received your item by then, go back to the item you purchased and open a request.'
eBay thinks posts are working till midnight?

  • +1

Received mine yesterday, ran the hack which enables LAN RTSP but disables access via the Mi Home app. You can easily switch back to using Mi Home if you want though.

Next step is to setup some sort of RTSP client application that can handle motion detection and recording etc…

Anyone have any suggestions, zoneminder? Does "motion" support RTSP feeds?

Please PM me your order detail, I will help to follow up
          cheers

  • +1

    Haven't got mine either.

  • I was told that my order was dispatched on the 6/5 and last wee I wrote to them They've sent a generic reply and this is ridiculous. A month tomorrow since it was actually dispatched. I've order multiple items from China and never has it taken this long. I actually ordered two about three days apart. Neither arrived. Received some useless excuse that there was a delay in Australia. Sorry guys, but Australia doesn't delay like that. Will be revering Paypal if not arrived by the end of the week. Nearly $80 down the drain.

    • Hi tucker3082
Please PM me your order details, I will help to follow up
      cheers

  • -1

    Haven't received.

  • I also haven't received.

  • I've requested a full refund. Will wait and see what happens and will escalate to ebay if I don't receive an adequate response. Don't appreciate being sold an item on false information.

    • Hi julz
Please PM me with your order details as I replied above. I might able to help
      cheers

      • I'm communicating via the ebay messaging so the conversation is on record. Still haven't heard back regarding my request for a refund.

        • Most of our message replied in 1-2 working days. If you can PM the details to, I will try resolve your problem sooner.

  • Haven't received either…

    • Hi roffey1
please check PM, I provides some details to you. And our team will continue to follow up.

  • Same not received yet as well..

    • Hi centrelink
Please PM me your order details, I might able to help
      cheers

      • Its fine, I finally got a reply where it was supposedly just given to Aus Post yesterday so hopefully it arrives within 7-14 days (WHAT another 1 to 2 weeks!!!)

  • Not received either

    • Hi jackwoz
Please PM me your order details, I might able to help
      cheers

      • I am also communicating through ebay

        • I won't know which ebay message is yours, if I didn't have the order details with me.

        • @danilochan: somebody has already responded to me through ebay

        • that's good. Our team will help you to resolve the problem. cheers

  • This is a bit of a farce.

I messaged the store rep directly on ozbargain and got a completely different tracking number and shipping date compared to the one shopping square gave me directly through ebay…

It feels like the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing or they're both tossing out BS.

Last ever order with Shopping Square.

  • Escalated to ebay and got a successful outcome:

Unfortunately, we didn't receive valid tracking information from the seller. We're sorry you had a problem with your purchase.
We issued you a full refund of AU $36.95 on 7 Jun 2017 to your PayPal account. The refund includes the purchase price plus original postage

    • Funny yours was resolved so quickly. I put in a dispute and ss sent a message saying please close the dispute and wait another 2 weeks. I've refused to close the dispute and requested a refund. Been waiting 2 days for a response.

      • +1

It wasn't that quick. I had to wait until ebay allowed me to ask them to step in. Once that happened ebay arranged the refund. Just make sure you mention in your messages that you are unhappy about the delay and were misled about the 2-3 week shipping time advertised on ozbargain

  • Not received either. Messaged them and they pinky swore that it was dispatched on 06/05/2017. I'm not so sure. They said there had been delays with their courier (?). If it's not here by Wednesday then its getting disputed.

    • Welp I received my camera today. Was it held up or was it resent I'm not sure but I've got a camera finally.

      • Is there a postmark on the package with a date?

  • Still not received.
    Said 7-14 days.

    Opened Dispute.

We kindly request you to provide few more working days for the delivery to be completed. For the time being we humbly request you to close the dispute case and continue to communicate with us via standard eBay message and we assure you to resolve the issue soon. Again our apologies for the inconvenience. Best Regards, Customer Service Team ShoppingSquare (division of Apus Corporation)

It's been over a month, pathetic.

    • I have ordered one in first week Of May and still haven't received. I exactly got the same message as above from the seller (Shoppingr Square)

Pathetic….. I have ordered for another wifi extender unfortunately from same seller, going to the Xperience the same issue.

      Cheers

  • As frequently stated the ss are buyer beware on everything.

  • Unfortunately just opened a dispute, no update no tracking details… nothing, and certainly won't be ordering from Shopping Square again!

  • Finally got my refund after getting EBAY to step in.

Don't try and resolve it privately, insist on a refund, continue with the dispute and then get ebay to step in. Once ebay steps in the refund should occur near instantly.

    They tried:

    • To get my to close the dispute
    • Wait weeks longer despite them declaring it lost
    • Sign a contract for me to post the item back at my time and expense if it happened to turn up one day

    Dodgy company, avoid.

    • Good to hear.. Been waiting for mine since 30/05 alongside the Xiaomi Powerbank I purchased earlier as well.

      Raised a dispute for both

  • I still havent received my camera either. Waste of time. I have raised an ebay dispute.

  • Also got a refund after asking eBay to step in, what was the tracking number everyone got?

    F70166170506005G

    • Tracking number: F70166170506009L

      • I also assumed everyone had the same tracking number!

    • Dear Christian,

      http://www.flytexpress.com/Tracking/PackageTracking.aspx?tra…

In the meantime, in case if you have received the item within the next couple of days, please do keep us informed.

      Yours Sincerely,
      Team of Shoppingsquare.com.au

I bought 3 cameras on 2 separate orders. The package with 2 cameras came in time while the other one is gone missing. Raised a dispute and they sent me an agreement form to sign. I guess I have to sign it and get my refund.

    • +2

BS, you shouldnt have to sign anything outside eBay

    • Thanks I got the same offer, so sign a "missing in transit" form from SS.

  • Just to add to the long list. Another not received. Case opened. Yawn ! Terrible seller.

EDIT : I'm not sure how to neg. Ha

    • Hi d34nus

Please PM me with you order details, I might able to help.
      cheers
