Cheers, it looks like something that could be useful down the line.

    The Windows link isn't working…

    • Thanks for that…

    • Thanks, I've fixed it in the deal.

I've used the full suite of On1 software for the past few years. While the tools are great they don't perform too well and tend to crash a lot. I think I'm going to move to photoshop.

Well rather then paying a lot or monthly fees for Adobe have a look at the Affinity Photo.

I've On1 Photo Raw and I've found the latest update stable. The memory leak was the issue I had. It's still not all they were promising when they released it six months ago though. I've kept using it because of the excellent video training courses they produce. They've made me a far better photographer and image editor.

But if I was looking for a program I'd agree with Elijah and choose Affinity Photo. That panorama tool works so well.

If you own a Sony camera it's worth giving Capture One Express a go, because it's free for Sony camera owners.

      Website is here https://www.phaseone.com/en/Products/Software/Capture-One-fo…

It does the basics really well… colour adjustments, cropping/rotating, library management, etc. I like it.

    • Not much later after reading your comment, ON1 crashed upon trying to open my first image.. uninstalled!

Thanks - will give this a go on the Mac.

Cheers mate, will give this a go.

  • How is this compared to DXO Optics https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/304371 ?

    • +1

There's a good discussion on dpreview.

If you are already happy using DXO Optics then its best to stick with that. The differences are probably not worth the time to learn another interface.

DXO Optics Pro 9 has lower system requirements and can run on slightly older hardware. ON1 Effects system requirements:

I'm running DXO Optics Pro 9 on a 10 year old PC (Vista 64-bit, onboard video, Core2Quad).

      • Thanks mate! great link.. especially I'm shooting with my a6000 most of the time because of its portability.

  • Do you have to install it straight away ? Can I install it sometime in the future when I actually need it ?

    • As far as the Mac version went, it just downloads to your machine - you can choose to install whenever you like.

  • Is this the one that only works with RAW files?

    • Their marketing says this one works with "Raw from over 250 cameras". See supported files in the feature list.

      • Thanks. My panasonic doesn't do RAW (does great 1080P though. :) )
