Surely this is a unique code?

    • +93

it is not a unique code, and don't call me shirley.

      • +21

Roger, Roger. What's our vector, Victor?

        • +26

          We have clearance, Clarence

        • +4

          Do you…like movies about gladiators?

        • +2

Ever seen a grown man cry Orpheus?

      • +1

Looks like barcode from their catalogue from the picture, so unlikely to be unique.

    • The barcode is generic and can be used nationally.

  • +4

    Need to have VIP card

    • Its a simple free application. You also get a temporary card in the email immediately.

    • +16

Yeah pretty good deals on items over $100 you can save up to 40%.

    • JV? Is that you?

  • Best deal from spotlight. I got this one in November last year I think. Got 2 of these coupons and bought $200 worth stuff which were reduced already and on top of that another $40+ $40 off. (Had to have 2 separate transactions). In a nutshell got those for over 80% off RRP price. Check your letterbox for this coupon!

    • +3

      Thats not 80% off.
      Thats 40% off.

      • +14

        40% x2 = 80%.

        Checkmate.

        • +2

$80 off $200 is 40%. But I think I know what what you mean.

        • +1

@firefly2k3: Dont hit me with all your 'logic' bro, they call me the wizard of BROADY

        • LOL yeah, this sale includes sale items. So 40% off before + $40 off after which is another 40% makes it 80%, does that make sense now?

        • Ah i misread.

        • +4

          @Tomaus62:

40% off 40% off is only 64% off.

          0.6*0.6=36% paid

        • @JIMB0: you are actually right! Good pick! 64% and 70% off for items on 50% off price is still pretty good for spotlight, I reckon.

        • +2

This takes me back to the days of Atari claiming it's Jaguar console was 64-bit because it had two 32-bit processors…

        • Buy $300 and get 120% off!

    • -1

      So the codes are unique?

  • was this from their latest catalogue?

    • yes

      • Latest, as in currently available? I have a VIP card, but I don't get the catalogs. I hope I'm not too late to get a coupon!

        • +4

This coupon will become valid in conjunction with the catalogue that starts on Wednesday, 10th May 2017. Catalogues are usually posted out a few days in advance, so while it is technically 'currently available', it is not yet in effect.

If you do miss out on receiving your own coupon, the barcode is generic and you can get away with presenting the above image on your smartphone instore, or using it online.

Spotlight usually does this coupon twice a year, in addition to others, so it's worth registering you mail/email address to your VIP card if you want to receive these promotions first-hand.

        • Yes

        • @foyya: Could this coupon be used on clearance items?if yes, I bought something online today, hopefully would be able to cancel the order ;s

        • +1

@watson4884: Yes, this coupon can be used on clearance items. Good luck!

  • +1

I just bought $105 of freshly cut off the roll curtain material an hour before this was posted.. anyone managed to go in after the fact and get the $40 refunded or any tips on how to accomplish this?

    • +2

because it was cut product you're stuffed I'd say

    • +2

Just say you forgot about the coupon, and you want to refund and repurchase :) I've done this before when a product I bought went on sale a day or so after and most stores are ok with this.

      • Doubt it's possible when the offer starts on the 10th. No harm trying though & hoping they don't look @ the date on the receipt!!

    • in the same boat here.
Just purchase a curtain pole paying over $100. Used my VIP when check out in the store. The pole has been installed and packing has been chucked away.

well , do you guys think I can purchase the same model with discount code on 10th May (when discount code become vaild), then bring the new box to other store with old receipt ( which purchased at a cost of over $100) for a refund.

      Dodgy. but its $$$$

      thanks for the input.

    • +7

If it was a refundable item that you had purchased within the last 28 days you could go in and refund and repurchase it with the $40 off. But unfortunately this cannot be done with cut fabrics and other non-refundable items, simply because it goes against policy.
Also, it doesn't help that you purchased the non-refundable item before the coupon became valid on the 10th. If you had purchased the fabric on/after the 10th and forgot to use the coupon and came back within a few days wanting $40 back, you could make a convincing case.
Staff will look at the date on the receipt as it has to be within 28 days to be refunded and this date is manually recorded when processing the transaction, so very little chance of them missing it.

Hope this helps you and others.

  • Anyone who works around Perth CBD who gets spotlight catalogues? We don't get them at home.

    • +2

They will email out this code to their vip customers in the next couple of days

Time to make additions to the Kinetic Sand pit.

  • which sewing machine is better.
    GS2510/ GS2700/ GS3710..

All selling for 199$ at the moment.

    • +2

Sorry I can't answer that question but the relatively popular Elna EL2000 goes down to $89 similar to previous deals (with extra $10/15% off)

There's also a Stirling by Janome $99 sewing machine and $199 overlocker @ Aldi atm too.

  • Just bought 3 $80 pre-made curtains and $70 of acorns rods etc. at spotlight today damn :( also on a tight budget. Could have held off until Wednesday too. Opened and put them up so can't return…

    • +1

buy the exact same items with the discount… and return those items with the first receipt ???

  • +3

    Awesome when you need something.

Last time i walked around the store for an hour until it dawned on me i didn't need anything.
    Sad Panda.

    Elna EL2000 for $89? Wow!

    • Last time i walked around the store for an hour until it dawned on me i didn't need anything.

That is not the mentality of an OzBargainer! :P How about doonas and mattress toppers for winter? ^_^

      Elna EL2000 for $89? Wow!

Yeah not bad. The Brother JS1700 will be $79 too. Not sure which is better.

      • Any input on which one is the best to get for a beginner?

      • +3

        How about doonas…

        You don't know my pain.

Last time i used one of these it was to buy 5x doona covers that had been discounted to $20 from ~$150 or something. That made it $60, yet i've only got one bed.

I will die before I ever run out of doona covers (yes, they're awesome otherwise i wouldn't have OD'd).

How about sewing machines Obi Wan?

OK, no one actually said that, but I got the Elna EL2000 for $99 some time back, and i love it, though it's not like i've conducted a bunch of comparative tests…

Note they may even lose money on these things - they want you to buy one so you'll come back and buy their fabric. Worked on me…

        • looooool! whatta reply :D

Here's a scannable voucher for those who don't get their own:

    • Thank you so much, this is excellent!

    • Please see below for an email version of this voucher that should be more acceptable to use in store for those of you who have had problems.

  • Great deal, thanks.

  • +1

      • +1

      • These sewing machines aren't excluded for this voucher. The only sewing machine that is excluded is the Singer 1306 Start Sewing Machine.

  • +1

I've never used this sort of voucher before. Any chance of a better scanning of the page? I'm guessing they accept printed versions?

  • +2

any recommendations on a warm winter quilt for $100?

    • What size?
I found the wool quilts great for Perth winters

      • Double - Ive been looking for a nice warm lofty one like the hotels. Heard theyre expensive so good to combine with this deal. Im hearing good things about wool ones too - which one do you have?

  • -8

Code is not working online, my cart value is over $200 already.
"Failed to apply promotion code to cart. Kindly fulfil the requirement and re-enter the code to redeem."

Also some items are showing with discount on the thumbnail page, but when you click to see the details, the discount will be gone.

    • +4

Bit premature with the neg. Code works for me. You need to have a VIP membership, and you need to be signed into your account before applying the code at checkout. Also, it was barely after midnight when you posted your comment, so perhaps try again now.

  • Note that conditions state exclude "home electrical appliances".

  • OMG, its working online, purchase the dinner sets half price already, fantastic! thanks OP

  • so this don't work on blinds

    • It doesn't? Are you sure? Was just about to buy a couple.

      • Tried but code don't work

        • +1

This voucher does work on blinds and worked for me just now. Make sure you are signed in as a VIP before applying the code.
          Hope this helps.

  • Voucher works in store thanks OP. Picked up some sheets.

    • Did you print out the voucher or did you show them the voucher on your phone?

      • I showed the voucher on my phone. The staff member couldn't scan it (i think it would have scanned, she was just holding the scanner too far away), so she just entered the voucher code manually without any dramas.

        • The one i went to refused to accept an image on phone. Had to go to nearest officewoeks to print on a4 glossy paper for $0.88.

        • @mrtin: that is utterly ridiculous. I'm so sorry you had that experience. What store was it?

        • +1

@mrtin: I got the pdf one scanned today. No dramas. Go back tommorow and all for a manager.

        • +1

          @foyya:
          Roxburgh Park.
Seriously i drove around for about 30min in traffic looking for Officeworks Campbellfield (dodgy google maps) just to print it out.
Maybe the staff there didnt know. They (2 different staff members on separate calls) mentioned the voucher had to be surrendered (so obviously i cant surrender my phone). I also called up spotlight (national number) and was also told by them a photo on phone would not be accepted.

        • +1

@mrtin: lol girl behind counter had one she scanned instead of bothering trying phone, she was a champ :)

        • @mrtin: Actually, it says on the voucher (even pdf ones) that it must be surrendered. But then it would defeat the purpose of use once per day rule!

        • @KaraZorEl:
Really unnecessary given the barcode/number is the same on every voucher!

        • +3

@mrtin: Again, I'm so sorry. Needless to say Spotlight is shaky in terms of consistency in policy and across stores. Considering that the most important part of our job is to serve customers and make sales, your experience is beyond comprehension to me. Also, the logic behind you having to 'surrender' a voucher that you can infinitely re-print is sorely lacking.
So, if you want to PM me your mailing address, I'd be happy to mail you out however many vouchers you want.

Our annual Talkback to the Boss is coming up in June and you can bet they will be hearing from myself and a lot of Spotlight staff with these kind of frustrations. Also, anyone who's had similar trouble with this, please feel free to leave some constructive feedback.

        • @foyya:
Thanks for that and i understand the frustrations in a large corporation. I just printed the voucher off ozbargain :)

        • @foyya: I would also like to express my disappointment that after shopping in spotlight box hill for 2 hours with my young children to find enough items to fill a cart to $100 I was refused at the checkout at for not having the print out. I can give you a description of the lady who was incredibly rude. Another lady behind the counter offered to hold the items for me until Thursday and the same rude lady refused again and said no holds beyond 24 hours. It was like she enjoyed making others miserable. Her position was further supported by the manager who came out and refused to honour to the deal. Fantastic way to spend Mother's Day as it is now 5pm I had to leave and can't go back in.

        • +5

@lousy: thank you for letting everyone here know about your experience. I'm sorry that this happened to you and others here.
In light of such events relayed here, I would advise that anyone wanting to take advantage of this sale please print the above voucher out instead of presenting it on your phone (and, if they ask, say it was printed out from your email).

As I have said above, this rejection of sales to customers goes against common sense and must sorely diminish customer goodwill. It baffles me. Spotlight wants you to shop with this voucher; it is one of the company's most successful sales. The only excuse I can offer is a lack of training and constantly changing policy given to staff. This I can attest to. But please know that I will do all within my power to correct this illogical inconsistency for the future.

        • @foyya:
          You seem very reasonable :)

  • If you're not a Spotlight VIP holder, sign up online, shop online and use the code supplied in this post while logged in, it all works .. :-) .. !! I just bought the Logan and Mason topper and some $5 hand towels for $66 plus shipping. Weeeelll done OP .. :-) .. !!

  • +1

    It worked, thanks OP :-)

  • Shopped in-store and didn't need to be a VIP member or require the voucher. I assume I got lucky though.

  • I was disappointed to find there were no Queen size doona/quilts except one that was not on sale and another for $280 something. And I was there at 10.30am. surely all QB sizes won't sell so quickly.

Btw, does anyone know if we can use the voucher multiple times?

    • +1

Once a day apparently. I asked the staffer guy on here already.

    • +3

      once a day per account…

Have you looked at Sheridan online for quilts? They currently have 70% off, plus if you sign up as a VIP you get an additional 25% off.

      • In face Sheridan Outlet is a much better deal for bedsheets. Don't forget to use Cashreward too.
