DeLonghi 11 Fin Oil Heater - $189 C&C or +Delivery @ The Good Guys

70

Looking for a column heater to toast up a room? These have an rrp of $299 (bing lee) and usually sell for $250 online (appliances online). A cheapo from kmart might do a good enough job but if you want something a little nicer this seems like a decent deal.

7 year warranty.

Click and collect or 10 bucks delivery.

Couple of reviews at link below. The main negatives are about the smaller model and a short circuiting issue.

  • Can anyone advise much on heaters or which one's more suited? Baby coming in 2 months, by then peak winter would be here, just want to know what's a good heating solution to make sure the little one would be nice and warm :)

    Thanks!

You'd be surprised, but babies don't necessarily need to be kept at 24 degrees all year round hehe…

Put them in warm clothes and they'll be fine!

    • One of these would. Be fine.
Not dangerous and you can use the timer so it's on only at the really cold part of the morning. Say 3am onwards.
We had one for the same reason.

    • Most of the advice says if they're sleeping, to have a heater to keep the room temp above 16 degrees.

  • The main negatives are about the smaller model and a short circuiting issue.

so comes with free house insurance?

    • Yes, insurance is underwritten by Samsung.

  • I have one of these for around 3 years. Was a replacement for another heater different model that failed. So far happy. It also has a timer that is handy to turn on around the time that gets really cold.

    • Yeah the timers are handy. I got one 3yrs ago too (but i think it was ~$60). Theyre great towel warmers too.

These heaters are good if you want a quiet solution, but are no more/less efficient than a $10 fan heater. These plug in heaters all CHEW power.

If you can (ie not renting) installing a split system air conditioner is FAR more efficient and cheaper to run.

    • Very true. In theory an reverse cycle A/C unit should be about 3 times as efficient as any standalone heater and that includes ceramic, oil, fan etc.

Of course performance might vary between brands but that's where advise and the statuary labels adhered to them can help.

Yes! We used this with a new baby and the power bills were astronomical. We had it on from 5pm to 6am in a very cold room. Split system a/c installed instead the next winter ($1100 fitted) paid for itself fairly quickly

      • AC is always cheaper

      • Omg
        You learn something everyday.

Our home office has 2 of these but we have a split system we only use for cooling
I don't know why we never used it for heating!!!!

        • It's good that people can learn and then take advantage. It's the way the A/C works that makes it cheaper to run. Just ensure the vents are facing the floor - you want the heat to be pushed downwards as it rises anyway. Once the room is warm, keep the fan speed low to avoid feeling dry eyes.

It's like many people don't realise you can run your car's A/C with the heater in winter - it's PERFECT to do this to keep all interior windows fog free. In fact, if your windows are fogged up, running the heater with the A/C can have them clear in a matter of minutes.

Excellent, I was planning on getting the smaller model but now got this one for the same price so I'm very happy. Also I think if you select click and collect you get a $20 store voucher as well: https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/click-collect-get-credit
