“My name is Barney and I’m an alcoholic.”

“Mr. Gumble, this is a Girl Scout meeting.”

“Is it? Or is it that you girls can’t admit you have a problem?” – Barney Gumble

  • What's this Maxx beer? Is this a new entrant to the market? What does it taste like?

It's been prominently advertised in a lot of bottleshops lately - never seen it before.

    • Maxx Blonde is the Coles generic beer label. Instead of giving it their "Savings" moniker they think calling it Maxx Blonde will make it more appealing.

Having said that, if you like the blonde style of beer it's not too bad. It's a shame that it's only 330ml sized bottles and alcohol content is around 4%(from what I recall)

    • They did a staff special 6 pack for $5, I drank one and gave the rest away. It was terrible.

      • Haha I didn't even know about that, I just got one for free. I'll take it for free, but wouldn't spoend $30 on a slab when for a little more you can get a quality slab from 1st choice.

  • im a flybuys noob . is there anything good about flybuys?

Coles gives you 1 point for every $2.50 you spend.

13,200 points gets you $100 cash (Visa gift card)
That is $33,000 spent at Coles to get you $100

If you spend $100 a week grocery shopping, that is 330 weeks which is 6.3 years.

kmart, target, shell. its worth keeping it in your wallet, but dont purposely spend to rack up points

        • I agree, it does add up. I usually get a gift card every few months.

        Actually, it's 2 points for every $5.

The distinction is if you spend say $3.50 you get 0 points instead of 1. (They also don't round up). Over time that adds up.

        • Actually, it’s 2 points for every $5.

I worded it in terms of 1 point as it made the next comparison easier for people to follow.
I didnt think about rounding though.

Anyone able to comment on maxx blonde? is it as good or better than super dry?

    • No, it is not

  • Anyone tried the smirnoff mule? Ginger ale ftw.

    • someone dislikes ginger ale methinks

    • Had these at a club, $10 a bottle. Surprisingly very good.

    • I'm not a fan of ginger, so it was horrible to me, but try it if you like ginger!
Saying that, I do like Scotch & dry.

  • yeah, i saw the maxx blonde last weekedn, it's on special near my place, i'll hvae some this weekend and give you a review :)

  • Any booze bargain's a good bargain.

  • I think the best value there is the 6 whites. Pretty sure they're all from the same region in NZ, which produces quality Sav Blanc's. I've had the Cradle Bay & Wahu, definitely worth $6.50 per bottle.
