      • Excellent. Thanks for that.

This seems to be the future of phone plans!

  • well shit, one month after i sign up for the 279 10 gig plan it drops 25 bucks..

  • Can I tether to laptop? In the UK the good phone deals blocked tethering some how.

    • Works for me

      • awesome, thanks

  • Got the 10gb pack thanks!

  • Excuse my ignorance
What will happen if 12months has lasped?

    • +9

Check ozbargain and see what other specials are available from other carriers

  • Just wondering what the turn around time is if i'm with Vaya (optus)? At what day in the month cycle should i 'port' to kogan..?

  • +1

What happens when it's about to expire could you recharge at the same price?
    Does this include international SMS/MSM?

    • Yes I would like to know as well.
as you can not see the recharge options without login?

  • Just bought one for me and Wifey. farewell, Amaysim. You were great 4 years ago lord knows why i waited this long tho.

  • +1

Can any comment on How is the reception with kogan?

    • check vodafone network coverage map.

  • Maybe a stupid question. Anyway to use this as mobile broadband like in a dongle or personal hotspot ?

  • +1

Any issues buying one of the $4.90 30 day deals and this, and recharging with this voucher when the first 30 days expire..

    • I had the same idea. Anyone know if it works?

    • +2

Yeah you're able to do this

      • thanks
worked that out from previous comments also..
ordered the $4.90 deal and will jump on this one during the first month once the sim arrives :)

      • Just to clarify, can you just simply recharge your account with the voucher, or do you have to port out and in again?

        • +2

Recharge your account using the voucher. No need to port out as it acts like a recharge voucher when need to do the recharge.

        • +1

          @chl15: Champion, thank you!

  • My current plan with Vodafone expires on August 3rd….is it possible to purchase the coupon now and port over and use the coupon when my plan expires in August?

    • +1

Yes, voucher expires 31st Aug 2017. So purchase before 31st July and activate before 31st August.

  • So if you use your data limit early within the 30 day period it ceases until next 30 days?

  • Just a word of warning, they can charge your credit twice. They'll charge you once when you buy SIM and a 2nd time when you activate and add CC for future billing.

Also their support isn't great. You wait over a week for returned support calls, live chat doesn't work as they just refer you to phone support and email tickets take several days for them to respond.

    • use the kogan gift card, for safe.

      • Where do you buy them from

        • Woolworths. And 5% off from entertainment book…

    • What if I use paypal to purchase the voucher? Will they still need to ID you before you can port your number to Kogan?

  • What happened to $10 / GB? What is data so cheap from Kogan? Of course, I am glad, just trying to understand. Yearly plan provides some of the answer…

    • Sorry, typo, I meant to say "Why is data so cheap from Kogan?" And I was referring to the general status 12 months ago where most providers were charging around $10 per GB (or thereabouts). 10GB for around $20 is quite a change.

      • +1

Overselling? My amaysim is expiring next week so I went and bought a 5GB/month pack. I know that I will not use anything close to that, and so does Kogan.

Not the first time Kogan overselling the plan (although every provider oversells to some degree). However overselling might be the reason that got them in trouble back in 2013 in the first round of Kogan Mobile. Hopefully it's better managed this time.

        • Yes, good point(s). The structure of the deal helps them - only 2GB expensive top-up, so sensible to get a larger plan so don't need to pay expensive top-up. Other deals automatically top-up ($10/GB) so better to get a larger plan rather than pay that.

Still with $23 for 10GB, I feel comfortable with the data limit (often lots spare to watch some video outside somewhere) and the price is very reasonable compared to roughly $10/GB of previous years. Only thing now is we have four such plans in our family.

  • Great deal switching from lebara 5gb

  • I got the sim pack with the 30 days for $5 for 10Gb offer the other day, once that month is over, can I recharge using one of these or would it be new customers only? If

    • yeah you should be able to

  • How does the referral credit work? I clicked the random link, then created an account where it said I'd receive $10 as credit. But after logging in with the new account, there's nothing under 'credits'… (yes I'm aware of the $35 thing, but it states the credit will show up and then only let me use it when i spend $35)

I wonder how many other people never got it :/

    • If you;ve done everything correctly, credit should be showing under when you click 'credit'.

      • Yeah it didn't work :( Ah well

I emailed them, basically told me to buy something again and try my luck… :/

  • I still have 25 days left on my tpg mobile. Does anyone know if I port to Kogan. I pretty much loose those 25 days worth of allowance from TPG? So, they don't pro rata and give back any money?

    • You can buy them now but only port out on the last day?

      • Yeah

  • Is this a contract? or month-to-month? or just a yearly sim? thanks!

    • Yearly sim. 365 day to be exact, stack with discounted gift cards for more saving.

      • Thank you very much!

        • feel free to pm me if you have any kogan mobile related questions, happy to answer. Was going to PM you about discounted gift cards but your pm setting is off.

  • Thanks OP. Grabbed two of the Small deals for the kids.

  • Does anybody know of any deals like this with a Optus reseller?

At home, I can only get Optus. I'm thinking of ditching the landline as I can only get a very poor 1.5 adsl line that regularly drops to 0.5 or 0.7. I also do a fair bit of travelling. The NBN isn't due till mid 2018.

It's an interesting balancing act and a deal like this on Optus would be ideal.

    • There's an Optus 25% off for friends and family deal that's back on! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/309310

The $30/month with 10gb and unlimited calls/texts is comparable to the Kogan Large plan (~$20/month) but if your only good reception is with Optus, paying an extra 33c a day is definitely worth it. I have had such bad reception on Kogan in Metropolitan Melbourne whereas previously I had no issues on Optus…. It really varies for everyone though.

  • Just activated this plan a few days ago - unfortunately poor reception with no reception at times in Melbourne CBD and in my room (South East Metro Melbourne) 80% of the time when before on Optus I had no issues. On the other hand I do know of friends in Sydney who have had no issues at all in terms of reception.

Please please please try Kogan on their cheap 1 month deal before you sign up with them. YMMV

Whilst it could be a network issue, check that your phone is compatible with Voda's 4G network bands: https://willmyphonework.net/

      • Phone definitely works with Vodafone's 4G network bands.

  • Anyone not received their sim cards yet? Dispatched on the 23rd still not arrived.

Do they come via the postie or a courier?

    • yep..still waiting
      dispatched on the 19th

and the initial voucher I purchased expires tomorrow

      • SIM turned up today

    • Regular Postie - mine took over a week.

  • https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/309726 - stack with this deal! Even though 2000pts = $10 off. It works!

  • There's a trick to save about 15-20% on the plans.

    • elaborating would be helpful ;)

      • PM-ed

        • I'd like to know also, thanks.

        • @Russell4269: hi mate your pm is off.

        • @tajid: hi, if you can also pm me how it would be much appreciated.

        • Can you PM me the method? I'd like to know how as well!

        • @tajid:sorry, have changed settings now, am a new user didn't realize, if you could pm me now that would be much appreciated, thanks
