Also available google chromecast for $29 add a $1 & use code comes to $28.50, don't know if that's a deal anymore

VR headset seems good price selling for $134 at TGG, not sure which model it is, likely previous model but I don't have a Samsung so wouldn't know

          But if you are giving out the link, presumably you have clicked it and you know it is safe. Personally, I am more wary of clicking on a link that I don't know where it is going to take me and I think others feel the same. That's why we get a preview of the URL when it is formatted into the text of the post.

      Gear VR uses Oculus Apps (FB) and Cardboard VR uses Cardboard apps (Google).

      No, Ive owned both. As others have said, they both use different systems to operate and have completely separate stores and apps.

      Google cardboard is good for a 'quickfix' of the VR experience. If you've never used it before and are curious, then its a good option. Gear VR is a much more comfortable experience, with a controller. The headset also has a touch sensitive track pad on its right hand side if the controller is ever lost. The games are much better, the straps keep the device locked against your head more solidly, and the the build (especially when it comes to securing your phone) is much better. Obvious downside is that it only works with Samsung Galaxy devices.

    I'm pretty sure this won't work with S8.you need the 2017 edition.

      The s8 is USB c, and the new 2017 model vr has a swappable adapter for either micro USB or USB c.

    For those who is still looking to get one, a quick google search shows that PLE computer sells it for $39 + postage. Postage is showing around $9 for me to VIC.EDIT:This looks like 2015 version but description says compatible up to the latest Galaxy series before S8.

    what makes these headsets so much better than the the cheap "VRBox" ones you can pickup for less then $10 ? Isn't the quality on your phone ?

      It's a much better fit than the generic ones, less light leakage etc, extra built-in sensors for better tracking, built in controls so you don't have to pair a controller just to select a movie. Not sure I'd pay RRP but they're <$70 from China any day of the week

      These allow you to charge while playing and have touchpads/volume controls on the side. Way better than the chinese junk.

      you can chromecast videos from websites, and other streaming sites
      you can mirror your phone screen ie games to your TV
      chromecast netflix youtube etc.. easy to use

      i use the first gen and second gen.. can't tell any difference in terms of performance

        Yeah, the specs of the Gen 1 and Gen 2 are almost identical. Do you find the Gen 2 any more reliable though? My Gen 1 sometimes errors out when casting, so i have to disconnect the app and reconnect it.

          Gen 2 has dual band wireless (802.11ac) so you can connect to 5GHz Wi-Fi networks. I guess that's the biggest difference as videos will load/stream much faster.

          yeah drops out but not that often. Other than dual band wifi, they both run sufficient data transfer to watch any kind of video on chromecast ie HD Netflix / 1080p youtube videos
