    ewww 2 GB of data

    • +2

Video / Audio streaming is free and is not counted in the 2GB data, makes it liveable I guess

    • I have this from Telstra with 1gb data for $10 a month on 24 month contract. 1gb is enough.. hardly use the thing anyway. And with Spotify unlimited on Optus, their plans are good value if you stream alot.

      • Please elaborate

        • +1

If you are a Telstra customer they will do this deal for you, just ask them on the phone. Tablet + 1gb per month for $10 (normal price is $20) per month for 24 months.

        • @nubzy: I just spoke to someone on online chat and they refused to offer this deal ($10 for tablet & 1GB per month).

        • @sonu1111: Try again, you never know your luck with Telstra operators(some may budge). I have this tablet with them on the $15/month 2.5GB promo (24mth contract) that they had back in April 2016.

        • @Volution: did you ring normal Telstra sales line or specific department to get this deal? Thanks

        • @jasonchen59: I applied it through their site last year for the promo i have. Haven't seen the promo ever since to this date.

        • @nubzy: can confirm just got it tonight

      • If anyone wants to go with Telstra they offered this same tablet for $15 a month x 24 with 3gb of data. The free music & video on optus swayed me to go with Optus for an extra 5er and 1gb less. This was offered by the cancellations team online chat.

        • Video is not so good because it is SD Netflix only, wouldnt look good on this screen I dont think. The screen is very very average, looks terrible if you are used to iPad retina. But its still a good deal, and a good device to have arond the house for checking news etc, and bring with you occasionally for research/gps etc.

But yeah it is a nice perk that optus offers unlimited netflix and spotify.

      • +4

        That doesn't compare with this.
Unmetered Netflix streaming is pretty much the only reason I got it.

    • +3

100GB of data is available for $70

  • Thanks OP. Great deal.

  • Does anyone know if it will still be unmetered if you are using a VPN to access US Netflix?

    • +1

Unfortunately nope as Optus reads the data as the VPN address and not the Netflix website link.

    • What VPN are you using?

Does anyone have any suggestions for Netflix, privacy and downloading 'stuff'.

      • If you need VPN that will work on opus and still give you unmetered data, then no, I don't think that's possible as your connection is with VPN and not with Netflix. Having said that I use PIA and have configured it in my home WiFi router, pretty happy with it. I remember seeing a deal here posted with massive discount on 24 month plan for new customers. I think the source was Groupon but I may be wrong. Search and you should find it.

      • I recommend Nord VPN.

This is a go to site, it shows how safe your VPN really is.

  • Anyone know what the cheapest way to get netflix? I am seeing that people are using itunes gift cards that are on sale and then subbing through itunes or through the iOS app(I think?)?

And as for this deal, I have been tempted so many times, I've yet to cave as I dont have a Netflix sub.

    • Yupe, subbing netflix through itunes is the way i go for. Just wait on cheap itunes voucher deals and you get netflix under retail price.

  • Will this apply to this deal "Optus EOFY Family and Friends Offer: 25% Discount On 24 Month Plans (New Services Only)"?

    • No, that offer is only for mobile sim only 12 month or mobile + phone 24 month plans. I asked the other day via online chat with Optus.

  • Price gone up to $23pm

Now false advertising on the website:

  • My Nexus 7 died a while back so this is an extremely tempting deal. I'd likely jailbreak the tablet though - has anyone done this and experienced problems?
