    :)

  • any review for lebara mobile? gonna give a shot for this deal should I ?

    • Quality is ok. They use Vodafone network.
      International call is useless.

      • Lebara is bad, though they use Vodafone I find them weak on network.

      • Useless because you don't use it or because something else?

        • No, because the connection quality is bad. It's worst in the worse VoIP services

        • @Averell: the network will be in par with any other Vodafone connection, so unless your area has a problem (which is quite likely) it should be no worse

        • @Jackson: bad quality for international calls is mainly caused by their international voice connections, and has nothing to do with wireless network coverage.
Their 3G/4G network, and national voice calls quality is on par with other Vodafone based providers.
For SMS, I even prefer Lebara / Kogan to other Optus based providers because they have delivery report feature

        • @Averell: sorry forgot we were talking about international calls when I responded to the last comment. Ah delivery reports, reminds me of my first Nokia

    • On a recent week long trip all along the great ocean road (i.e. a regional area), optus had reception in a lot more places where lebara had none.

  • Just activated my Kogan 30 day 14GB SIM ($4.95). With all the offers popping up, maybe will see a better deal in the next 30 days from the others

  • Combine with Woolworths rewards card to save a further 4c/litre of data.

  • Does Lebara have VoLTE?

    • No,only Vodafone postpaid (not prepaid either). Only boost(Telstra) supports on prepaid.

    • Do I qualify as having VoLTE by using using Sipdroid and a VoIP on my mobile?

  • Vodaphone network -hmm I'm not touching it. I wish it was Optus/Telstra linked!
Everywhere I go around Sydney (except the city) has bad reception for me.

    But very good deal OP!

  • might be a minor issue for some, lebara don't support international roaming (while you are overseas you can't call or sms back)

This is quite a good deal. However I don't see any mention about the expire date of the SIM card. Can I buy this now and activate late, like after 3 months?

    • +1

      like after 3 months?

I would also like to know that, thanks for raising.

That's like a saving of 9.9 pcs of KFC!

New Ozbargain currency since eneloop deals have dried up

Kogan's 10GB for $20.90/month ($254 for 365 days) is another option if you want extra data for a $1.90 extra per month.

  • Interesting pricing battle going on between Lebara and Kogan on prepaying your phone costs for 6/12 months.
Even more interesting that no apparent response from Vaya in similar terms. They are still offering deals on 12 months in advance but nothing like the pricing and features you see on these deals.
Anyone got any idea why not?
Happy to read some input from Vaya…

  • I didn't have the best experience with Lebara. Myself and my partner were on Lebara and there were no messages coming through and when they did, they were always late. My partner couldn't even receive calls. I find it odd that we were both affected. We ported out after the 30 days were up.

    • Afaik message issues are a problem of the network as that's where the SMSC is, so basically it's a Vodafone problem. Lebara just resell. I know Lebara support doesn't have the best rep but did you report the issue?

      • +1

Yes, I did. They were not very helpful and spoke to me in a condescending manner. I live in Melbourne CBD as well so it was even stranger.

        • Same old story poor service but network is usually fine. To put it in perspective, SMS is pretty reliable and it's part of what Vodafone sells to the reseller (or MVNO: mobile virtual network operator). It's (almost) never going to be not working for everyone, so it's a customer service issue at heart

  • I'm on Vodafone/Kogan in Brisbane. Never had any trouble between the city and Sherwood, Chapel Hill (except in the basement) or my folks place at Ebbw Vale, Ipswich

  • Offer extended for another 4 weeks
