  • Did anyone sign up and do this last time? Can you give a review of whether you think this is worthwhile?

    Thanks

I did this 10 years ago with another company and it cost over $300, so I'd say this is a good deal.

  • So for $169+$12 per pool entry, we can get Open Water Diver certificate upon completion of the course? And we get brand new Aquatec Duo Vortex fins, Aquatec snorkel, mask and boots too?

Oh, and is there a difference the PADI cert and AUSI cert?

I signed up to the earlier deal with 4 other friends.

I cannot recommend this deal high enough, from what I could find the fins, snorkel and boots retail for higher then $160, the people at Elazmo (used to be sydney underworld) are so very friendly, helpful, and genuine. I ended up signing onto the year long package they offer after getting my PADI certification with them and I've been on three dives since using my new gear.

After 2 months of interaction and dives I really do not have a single negative thing to say about Mike and the guys offering this deal. It really seems that they are wanting to build a community around the shop and so are offering gear at very reasonable prices.

  • After reading the description again - I had to pay PADI $40 for the actual certification, this may not be included in the deal this time either. It would be worth checking.

    • Looking at the deal details, I saw "For $169 you receive your internationally recognised AUSI". So it's not PADI? I'm confused..

  • I am currently in process of doing a certification for $130 from Sydney Underworld offer. Too good.
The fins, mask and snorkel, and boots provided are of avg quality.

the mask, snorkel and boots are terrible, but the fins are great budget fins. Not sure about the new stuff they are giving away. I do own Aquatec equipments, but they are really only just budget stuff.

      • im doing it to, got the previous deal. i like the ocean boots and the fins are good. the guy gave a free upgrade on the mask and snorkel too to these black land and sea sports pro set.

        these guys definitely do PADI.

also note that you will need a dive medical (before any actual diving classes - do not need for Day 1) which is not included in the cost. a decent place will charge you $50-100 for the dive medical. though when i was calling around sydney it was $150+ with one place quoting $300 (making up some bullshit about a chest xray lol). Ended up going to Dr Mark Charteris in rouse hill, only charges $55:

        • My friends got the form signed/stamped on medicare, normal check up.

  • But how many sessions are there? hours or days? Does it include ocean dive? Or will the classes only be within pool?

      4 days:

      Day 1: Theory
      Day 2: Pool dive
      Day 3: 2 Ocean dives
      Day 4: 2 Ocean dives
