  • Battery Cell Count - 4

    GG WP Acer

    • +1

It has a pretty decent 69Wh battery in it, for about 6 hours light load/web browsing on battery. Much better than most gaming laptops, which aren't really designed for long periods without charge anyway.

  • Heavy af

    • It's actually slightly lighter (2.5kg), and thinner (22.5mm), than comparable (GTX 1060) laptops in the same price bracket :)

Obviously there's lighter weight options out there but you pay the premium.

  • Reviews say it's got a Thunderbolt 3 port and a fingerprint reader. Or perhaps this is a different SKU.

Different SKU's of this seem to just have different SSD/HDD combination's, so I'd say it would definitely have a Thunderbolt 3 port. Which makes it pretty future proof. Hard to find a comparable laptop in this price bracket with TB3. As for the fingerprint reader, it's integrated into the top left of the touchpad (touchpad is pretty large, which is nice).

I bought the next model up with 16gb ram and an extra 1TB HDD off eBay during the recent 15% off site-wide deal, came to pretty much the exact same price as this (from $1899 to $1614). I love how minimal the design is, doesn't look impregnated by an alien, but comes with the same performance :)

I have read that it gets fairly hot under load/heavy gaming though, which isn't too uncommon with these somewhat thinner laptops packing an i7-7700HQ cpu. Although there are some workarounds to tinker with if it becomes a problem, so hopefully all ends well and I'm not having to return it xD

      • Great price. I wasn't able to find anything decent during the sale.. Except the refurb acers.

  • Was interested until i saw its screen response rate was something ridiculous like 34ms.
