  • Unless you live somewhere with crap water?? Isn't Melbourne Water clean enough not to require this?

Almost nowhere in Australia requires this sort of filtration to be healthy. But a lot of people just prefer the taste after it's been filtered. I can't speak to Melbourne, but Sydney water certainly has a taste and I consider it well worth the price of a Brita filter to have better tasting water. (It's much cheaper than buying Evian.)

      • Melbourne water has a taste too, but one I actually liked.

Switching to Brita with no-taste water was weird at first.

    • Melbourne has some of the best quality tap water in the world. It's tested regularly to fairly strict standards and most of it comes from protected catchments with limited public access (some of which were picked out 100 years ago and remained undisturbed since).

To my taste Melbourne's tap water has a fairly neutral flavour. But to someone with a more sensitive palate Filtering water through activated carbon may perceptibly improve the taste.

It is clean and definitely safe to drink, but limescale will still form on kettles, coffee machines, and even your shower dispenser.

If you don't want limescale in your coffee machines and kettles, this is one option.

I only use filtered water for my Nespresso. Saves me from needing to descale it more than once a year.

You will get black particles on the bottom of your jug though. But it is dispensed FILO, so as long as you are not emptying the jug you will miss the black residue for the most part. Just empty it once in a while.

  • Your link doesn't actually link to any Brita products. A search for Brita only returns BRITA Classic Fill & Go Water Filter Bottle 3 Pack.

    Hmm.

    • You are right. The link was working earlier. Even the 3 pack now says unavailable.

      • BigW might have been clearing them out.
