  • Link came out as MYER ebay. Thanks OP regardless.

quite sure this is the previous version of the Macbook Pro, not the one that was released a few days ago

    • It is. They are not going to be selling a new model at that sort of discount.

  • Hold out till Wednesday cause there will most likely be a 15% off. If not buy then.

    • 300 cap makes them not much difference

      • There was a 600 cap during the first hump sale, they could replicate that.

        • But myer macbook sale ends today. It really hard to get all you want at same time.

For what I asked in store. They have limit stock and may out of stock at any time.

        • @John Kelvin: From what I can see on their catalogue, it seems like the price is effective through till 2 July: https://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/offers/w17-stocktake-sa…

        • @-.-: In store it shows 5 days 10%off started from last Thursdays and ends today.

Yes macbook pro 13 256GB touch bar may still on sale till 02 July

        • @-.-: But once they are out of the old stock they aren't going to replenish it.

    • +1

      What makes you so sure?

      • +1

There has been at least one during the last 3 sales they've put on. And they've proven that they offer 10% and then further offer 15% in a similar time period.

  • +2

Reasonable price, you save around 400-600 bucks (depending which model) if you do not need the lastest model, which day to day use you probably won't notice significant improvements

      • +5

"Geekbench results suggest the 2017 MacBook Pro is "UP TO" 20 percent faster than the 2016 MacBook Pro in CPU performance, but the difference is likely lower in REAL WORLD USAGE"

Unless you are 4K video editor / viewer. I think I'll save that 500 bucks to get last years model if you are looking to get MacBook Pro.

Isnt buying an Apple product and saving money a bit of an oxymoron?

      • +2

Apple kind of makes up for it in resale value + free OS updates and some productivity tools.

        • +3

          ^^ THIS ^^

In a way, the cheapest computer I ever purchased was my first MacBook from about 8 years ago: I was able to resell it after ~12 months for a high enough price (50-60% of original full retail) such that a salary sacrifice allowed me to buy a new Mac the following year. And the next. And… I repeated this every year for 8 years.

So I received the latest model MacBook (Air or Pro) every year at no additional out-of-pocket cost to me until I left that workplace.

You could salary sacrifice any other brand and model notebook, but the resale may not be anything like 50-60% of its original full retail price.

        • @Member 0230:
How did you sell yours? Gumtree, ebay or else?

        • @Joe888: Family, friends, contacts, eBay and Gumtree. It helped that I kept it in (mostly) clean, tip-top condition. It may also help that I often went for the higher configuration / CTO options.

        Not according to IBM; http://www.computerworld.com/article/2998315/apple-mac/every…

I also believe it saves me time (which could be equated to money) and frustration - but each to their own.

And if you've ever been in a situation where you become unpaid tech support for a relative, you will have wished they bought a Mac.

  • Run out old stock before the new ones turn up

" you can get Apple products at 19% off, cap. at $300 off."
OP: Is this offered by Apple on all products, like ipads etc, if so how do u claim it?

    • I did a quick check on ebay and the ipad 10.5 I was after (64gb, wifi) is selling at well above RRP - seller region_free_gamez. Apple sells it for $979.00, they sell it for $1,174.99 - you'd need a 16.5% off voucher just to bring it to RRP.

  • Anyone know if we can price beat this at officeworks?

    • They won't pricematch discounts created by coupon codes.

      • I see, would it be a good idea to buy these today or do you reckon better deals will come up later since the worldwide developers conf ended

        • If the price is right for you I'd jump on this straight away. I've lost out numerous times in the past after hesitating on MacBooks. Stocks have always been limited in the past. In my experience most sellers carry limited stocks and just order in as they sell.

Theses are pretty cracking discounts and you never know what the exchange rate will do in the future even if you hold out for the next refresh.

    • +1

      they wont match ebay price.

I prefer the 15 inch 256 model with touch bar. Its $800 saving compare with the price of new released model. If you can claim TRS. You will save another $260

  • Are these the latest model? (with Keby Lake)

  • So these are the slim 2016 mb pro on sale right ?

    • Yes, these MacBook Pro are late 2016 (Skylake) models.

      • +1

Huh, are you 100% sure? The 15 inch silver appears to be the 2015 model? MJLQ2X/A

        • +1

You're right, the MJLQ2X/A MacBook Pro 15" non Touch Bar is mid 2015 model.

        • @O O:
Cheers, thank you for that. I just purchased it since I have a 2016 model for work and the touch bar is pretty much useless and a waste of battery to me.

    • -4

All Mac laptops are fairly thin. If you are talking about the thinnest of all, it is simply called MacBook and these are 2016 MacBook Pros.

Do yourself a favour and do not buy the 'slim' MacBook. They are the worst machines apple made in the recent past.

  • The MBP 15" 2.7GHz lists 3 different graphics cards in the description… which one is it?

    • +2

      Radeon Pro 455 2GB

This is the default config for retail shop, the other graphics card configurations are available as CTO build.

      • Thanks. Just running the numbers on this and looks like for $271 more you can get the new 2017 edition if you were to stack wish cards to buy JB Hifi gift cards and got them to match Apple Education pricing.

        Hmmm

  • MacBook Pro 13" 256GB no touch bar is sold out

  • +1

MBP 13" 512gb just sold out and there was like more than 16 available

  • +1

this is disappearing fast .. get it fast people

  • Note delivery times are at least a week away for WA

  • anyone know what model year the iMac is + any links to reviews?

    • It's late 2015 model. There're more info at wikipedia

  • No 13" 16gb version?

    • 8GB RAM is the default configuration for MacBook Pro 13" at retail shop, you can only get 16GB RAM for the 13" by CTO build.

  • New Macbook Pro version with Kaby Lake processors apparently up to 20% faster than old model. Coming out soon.

    https://www.macrumors.com/2017/06/08/2017-vs-2016-macbook-pr…

    • The new ones have already been announced and available to purchase. George St store also have them ready for pickup tomorrow too.

  • +1

Bah. So much expenditure after following ozbargain. Got one, can't beat $500 off - not worth it paying $500 for a "new" processor to run chrome and word.

Had a look at the recent purchasers though - lots of "new" accounts on ebay purchasing this - bet myers is going to get a lot of fraud transactions with these mac products.

    • Screens also a lot better from what I've read.

      I'd think it's worth it

      • I think they are the same 500nits, resolution/ppi, DCI-P3 colour gamut displays as the 2016 model.

        • +1

I might be wrong I think.

    • Feel your pain, just dished out for the 15" but saved like $600 including TRS

      • Isn't the limit on TRS is 1k?

        • there is no limit on TRS claim as long as your bring the goofs out of the country and dont bring it back to Australia

        • How many times does this question need to be asked ?

  • I've had my 11" mac air for 5 years and it still runs perfectly.
Best value I've ever had when you consider most windows laptops of similar price would struggle to give you two years.

    • +2

Don't agree. I have a Thinkpad thats 6 years old still runs like a champ

      • Was given a stinkpad with work at the same time I bought macair, it lasted 18 months, mac is still going.

    • Any hardware is at the level that the CPU dosnt matter. Any dual core 2.5ghz will do the job and has been for years on both mac and pc

Ssds have helped a lot making CPU and ram above 8gb moot.

  • Ebay wont process the payment under my PapPal account using the CLAP10 code, anyone else experiencing this problem? Asking me to checkout with another method or account? - help

    • +1

You'll need to call up PayPal/raise the limit on your credit card in your PayPal account. It's because of the large dollar amount and you must have a new Paypal account/linked card.

      • Ah my friend had the exact same issue with the last 15% offer. Blessing in disguise because this deal worked out cheaper!

  • can we still claim TRS on these, even if its an eBay purchase?

    • as long as it has Australian tax invoice then yes you can. Has to be under your name on the invoice

  • Crap………i was contemplating at the check out page sooooooo long (finding justification as always) and I think my Cashreward chrome plugin might have signed me out before I clicked "proceed"…..

  • Some personal thoughts. I have been using the Macbook pro 15 with touchbar for a few month now. I would rather pickup the no touchbar version. The touchbar doen't help and even slow me down. Two usb type C is enough in most of the case as you have to rely on stupid dongles everywhere. No SD card reader is also a big minus for this machine.
The macOS Sierra works not very well. In the last week, I have display issues as the system disables some of the font and both email and spotlight search stop working. None of the suggestions by the apple official works. I have to learn to use the terminal and search the solution everywhere to get things fixed.
Basically, when the shit happens, apple is no easier than windows for your life.
The newer is not always the better, especially for macOS. You shall stick with your current working system or wait for a year for apple to fix all the bugs. Last, maybe you should consider a more powerful but cheaper machine like Dell XPS.

  • My wife still uses a 2008 Macbook pro, after upgrading the hdd to a ssd bumping up the ram and replacing the battery still works for everyday use. Thinking of upgrading as it's too old for Sierra without fiddling

    • I have the 2009 model. Any specific SSD and RAM for this old model. Did you get it done by yourself of through a shop @gweagles

      • I used a samsung evo 250gb, as for ram the 2008 model used sodimm ddr2 which only allowed 8gb of ram. I did it my self as it was only a matter of cloning the existing hdd using Carbon Copy Cloner and unscrewing the bottom cover to swap out the parts. The 2009 depending on when it was made used ddr 3 ram. I would suggest to get it right that you find out which model you have and go to ramcity or upgradable for the right model. As for the ssd most should be fine , just depends on how big you would want to go.

        • Thanks heaps @gweagles

  • +1

Crap. I literally was entering my CC details and it's now "This item is unavailable as the seller has ended this".

    Good going, Myer :(

edit Myer appear to have removed all Apple items from their eBay listings now, so this should be expired.

    • +1

Confirmed? I just went to look and can't see any Apple items listed on the store at all

  • for what it's worth I just e-mail myer to cancel my order after reading more on the review. I had the lenovo x1 carbon when they tried to do the touch touch bar and absolutely hate it.
