November is a good time to travel to get reasonable prices and to avoid bad weather.

    • +1 for this. We travelled in Boracay in November and the weather was fantastic. No holiday crowds either.

Beware of last minute domestic flight cancellations with Cebu though!! Our flight out was at 8am and we got a cancellation e-mail at 1am….

    • Agreed. I've travelled to the Philippines for the past two Novembers. During both trips, the weather was fantastic. However, try to avoid the ASEAN Conference around 12-16 Nov. I was there during the 2015 APEC Conference and Manila traffic was a nightmare. Plus there was something like 1500 flight cancellations across that week, so three of my four domestic flights were cancelled.

      • Yep I forgot ASEAN/APEC. Yes they do cancel flights etc. And there are increased security measures in the country/airports.

  • FWIW, I flew Cebu Pacific SYD - MNL a year or two ago - when they first started flying to SYD. Their A333 was the most densely configured A330 in the world at that time, may still be. That gets them bad publicity and may put many people off flying them. But I thought the config was the same as AirAsia in terms of seat width and pitch. Probably lack of "business" class and "extra space" economy upgrade seats allows them to fit more seats, hence the density.

There are several rows of double seats up the back where the fuselage tapers; choose these to avoid too much squeeze. There were two Aussie heifers in a double near me though, and they looked terribly uncomfortable. Not an airline for the obese!

There was a "happy" vibe onboard. Maybe coz it's a daytime flight and most of the window blinds were open, or maybe Filipinos are just happy people. Dunno. Take a book and enjoy the scenery - you fly up the middle of the gulf of Carpentaria and over the tip of West Papau.

Edit: Was reading an article last week that said October is the quietest time to travel - fewest passengers. Add that to Cebu's sadly low passenger numbers anyway, and you'd likely have a half-empty plane if you went in October after the school holidays.

    • About the same as AirAsia, except that they have less toilets (thus fitting in more seats), and seats are thinner-harder.

  • Got Sydney to manila return for $180 in October with cebu Pacific about 2 months ago so this is not so good a deal.
