Its free any day if you just jump the turnstiles and say someone outside was hassling you.
Then ask them for some free food.

and free lodging. Tell them if they throw you out you'll be persecuted and killed.
Contact GetUp! and any Greens MP if anyone criticises you or when you feel offended for any reason.

      • Thanks, but I think they got it already :-)

I was going to say something about the long line of other people waiting patiently to buy their tickets.

  • ha

  • Do they sell kebabs?

  • If for any reason you don't like the museum, you can get $70 million refund.

  • I'm sure it's great

Wonder if it highlights that xenophobia has long existed in Australia's migrant history - well before the current crop of OzB bigots.

In 1788, the first fleet sailed into Sydney harbour. Pemulwuy said (in Guringai dialect) "this will not end well".
His brother replied: "stop being such a xenophobe. How can a few hundred settlers do us any harm? Diversity is always good."

  • Overpopulation of our planet is a REAL problem for future generations if we're not to hand them a poisoned world
The bleeding hearts want to do the same to our country as a solution
It's sad that we may be the last generation of human beings that get to live somewhat comfortably on the surface of the earth

    Burn baby Burn

    It certainly had.

"When Cook and his crewmen tried to land, two of the local men stood on the rocks, warning them off with spears and sticks."

Pretty much the definition of xenophobia xD

  • So you all realise this is a freebie deal for a popular museum in Melbourne right? I suggest all of those with strong opinions to attend the museum (when its free) to learn more instead of relying on the media.

Now here is an interesting exhibition,

    Ithacans in Melbourne

Ithacans first came to Victoria in the 1850s, in search of fortune on the gold fields. Since then, their entrepreneurial spirit has contributed greatly to the cultural fabric of Melbourne, from street stalls in the Queen Victoria Market to some of the city’s finest cafes and restaurants.

I think I read once that Melbourne has the biggest Greek population per capita outside of Greece. Interesting to go around Melbourne where there were/are heavily Greek populations to experience the cuisine and "Greek styled" housing.

The Immigration Museum is definitely on my list of places to visit in Melbourne.
The Melbourne museums have some great exhibits, but the culture has become somewhat politicised compared to the past.
Science takes a backseat to ideology sometimes. I get the feeling this museum will not be mentioning any negative aspects to immigration. Not true?

And all sides of politics are guilty in this, the worst being the right-wing climate science deniers, IMO.

i've actually been to the museum. My sis and i spent hours looking at things, amazed at how hard their lives were, compared to our upbringing, and certainly vastly different from children being raised here today. We came from immigrant grandparents and should salute their efforts, cos after all, if you not aboriginal, you or family were immigrants.
