Apple MobileMe and .Mac $66 Each on Clearance at David Jones, Castle Towers NSW

180

Spotted today at Castle Towers DJs, Apple mobileme and .mac packs selling for $66 each, RRP is $119.

The best feature of this hands down is the ability to track, message and remotely wipe your stolen iphone or ipad (alternatives exist but they require jailbreaking).

If interested, I would suggest buying this, signing up to the 60 day trial from apple, and then activating your purchased subscription to get an extra 2 months free :)

More about mobileme at http://www.apple.com/au/mobileme/

There were about 5 mobileme boxes and 30 .mac boxes left on shelf (may be more inside or other stores, I am not sure)

PS sorry didnt have my iphone else would have taken a stealth shot of the deal > link just redirects to the DJs site.

  • $66 to track your phone is a good deal for apple anyway.

  • nice find!

  • was it the single license or the family pack? if i remember clearly family pack was only $20 more than the single and u get 5 licneses

    • family pack RRP is $179

    • Single licence.

  • Anyone know if this is available at other David Jones stores?

    • Yes it was available at DJ's Rundle Mall in Adelaide last night.

    • I think you'll find that if a particular DJs store stocks apple products (and not all do) then they should have this clearance item as well :)

  • but its $66 for first year I suppose, if you try to extend the following year its back to $119.. :(

    • You can extend your subscription using another mobileme retail box key. I have done that for two years already. Buy a few retail boxes at cheap prices, store them away and use the key to renew your subscription.

The David Jones store I went to had $66 for a mobileme retail box and and $62 for .mac retail box.

      • just want to know is there any difference between the .mac and mobileme boxes (apart from the branding) i.e. does the .mac retail box still work if you were to activate it now?

        • The .mac box serial key will work just the same as the mobileme box serial key.

    • Yeh; it is like becoming dependent on an email address with your ISP-domain — it is always going to end in tears. Mobileme for email gets a big thumbs down from me; either use gmail/yahoo mail/hotmail or get your own domain/host.

  • +1

there is about 10 packs at chadstone

    • Oh nice! I'm there :D

  • MobileMe is great, but you may want to be careful about buying lots of subscriptions and storing them. If you read the fine print on the mobilme box it says "You must activate within 9 months of purchase."

  • @andrewchang: You can activate it immediately and the credit gets tacked on to the end of any current subscription, so the 9 month thing isn't an issue (and I'd love to know how they could possibly determine when you purchased it in retail form anyhow).

I bought two of these from the Civic DJs in Canberra today; there are still about a dozen left. The guys at the counter didn't even know they'd been reduced, but when they scanned it the price was as listed here. I guess it's a nation-wide deal.

  • This is awesome! Getting mine from Rundle Mall tomorrow!

    • None of the clearance subscriptions are left at DJ's Rundle Mall now, only full priced sets.

edit: @peepers just saw your comment about them scanning at the lower price :(

  • Sydney CBD Store has also sold out of their clearance subscriptions. They only had family packs left at $99.
