  • Ok. What do you all think of this machine?
I don't know anything about it, but it sounds an OK buy.
As I've posted before, I'm comparing this to something like the MacBook Air.
Is the screen better or worse.
    Any thoughts welcome.

    • +1

Screen looks to be much better. 1080p and touch vs non 1080p and non touch.

  • Comparing it to MacBook air why?

    • +2

Because I'm an apple user with little familiarity with current windows machines, and am using the Apple MacBook Air as a reference re screen quality, weight, battery life etc.

      • +2

this machine has 1080p FHD screen, the macbook air doesn't I have a macbook air and Windows PCs.
Also has 256gb SSD, the air I have is ony 128gb, the air has a plastic screen, this machine is touch so it has a glass screen which is easy to clean.

Not sure about battery life but unless you need OS X it's a noticeably cheaper buy, not sure about battery life or if it can be used on a doona, the air doesn't have air intake on the bottom, so can be used in bed, most PCs have have an air intake underneath, so can't be used in bed …. blocks air flow and they overheat.

        • Thanks+++ for info.
One more question - apart from the screen having touch and FHD, how does the screen brightness and viewing angle compare to the MacBook?

        • @pencilman:

The MacBook Air's display has ~334 bits of brightness, and the Dell has ~223, so that's a huge and noticeable difference.

The Dell has an IPS display (MB Air has a TN panel), so it should offer better viewing angles, but the Air does quite well for a TN panel.

EDIT: Regarding battery life, the MB Air lasts significantly longer due to the great optimisation of OSX (probably double the Dell for general use, browsing etc).

        • regarding it overheating, this may be useful (whilst still only $9)
