      • Got the conditional approval screen at the end of the application. No instructions to upload anything. Haven't heard back since.

      • Can you tell me what you saw on the screen? I uploaded a payslip but then as I closed the tab I thought I saw other things such as sending them a copy of your tax return to prove your income.. which I didn't do.. so now I'm wondering if they were optional or if you were supposed to do that as well?

        • +1

I didn’t save that screen. But I remember you need to submit the tax return notice of assessment if you are self-employed. So I only submitted the payslip

Just called Macqaurie and was told that it was already approved. Card on the way. I havent had to upload anything…

  • Regarding the condition where they may introduce an annual fee, would they give you enough notice before they apply it or would it just appear on your statement?

    • They would give you notice. Saying that those who got their card fee free last year is still enjoying it fee free this year (their second card year).

      • Thanks for that

According to this the annual fee is $249.. :O

    • Hilton HHonors Macquarie Platinum Card - Annual fee $295. Please double check.

      • On my letter it says "Annual Primary Card Holder Fee: $0 debited to your account on first use of the card (including card activation) and then on each anniversary of the date we first issued a card to you". This is the same for the additional card holder.

        • I meant the usual annual fee.

  • Anyone else got approved? Still waiting…

    • Give them a call…

    • I think most of them(including me) also waiting. I did upload my payslip at the end of application. and thats it

  • Anyone got the card, approval mail or any communication?????

    • Just received approval email.

    • +2

I haven't heard anything, but when I logged in to Macquarie internet banking (I have the platinum debit with them from a previous deal), a new card shows up.

So I guess their internet banking system is faster than the computer system that generates approval letters?

    • I got mail asking for identification verification at bank@post. Even though I have put in all the details including payslip.

      • Is this on a desktop browser or through the mobile app?
I've been checking Cards in the iOS app everyday …

        • Card showed up in iOS app after 48 hours from application, Internet banking on desktop the day after. Card arrived in mail another week after that.

        • @justdigi:

Thanks justdigi. I noticed the card has appeared in my iOS app on Saturday morning. Now just waiting for the card arrival :)

  • I just called them up and was told I got approved and card on way.

So how long does it take to get the HH gold status, as looking to book a Hilton hotel in next couple weeks?

    • It took a little while last year, but when I had to book before the status came in I just called them up after and got my points bonus/room upgrade. It wasn't hard and they'll know you're gold when you check in anyway.

      • ok so Macqurie bank sends Hilton my info eventually stating I should be gold or I call Hilton up and tell I got this credit card and they give me gold status when I checkin?

        • Given the gold status already just a day after approval. Haven’t even received the card yet :)

    • I haven't even been notified my card was approved, it just showed up in internet banking and this morning I received an email from Hilton Honors telling me I've been upgraded to Gold Status. So I'd say fairly quickly if you've been approved, even if the card hasn't arrived yet.

      • Yeah just got the email this morning from hilton saying I am gold :)

  • how long are you meant to wait if rejected to reapply for this card is it 6 months or 1 yr?

    • 6 months

  • What’s the best use of the weekend certificate that comes with this card?

    • +2

      Conrad Maldives.

  • Does it come with 1 weekend certificate and additional 1 when you spend $2000 in first 3 months?

    • +1

1st one after you spend $2,000 in three momths, second one on your anniversary if you meet the spending criteria of $12,000 in one year.

  • My application has never been approved even though other 4 Big Banks have approved plenty of Credit card applications recently. Don't know what this bank actually gathering the data from which preventing the approval. They will also never tell us what is the reason, just standard general reasons.

  • Does this card earn points when making payment at AusPost? Citibank Signature card does Not reward points for payment at AusPost.
For those familiar with Macquarie card, how many points are required to redeem a hotel night?
I check Hilton Honors website and see the rate is as low as 5000 points per night which seems too good to be true!

I've never seen 5000 but I have seen 10000 for cheaper locations. Conrad Tokyo was something ridiculous like 100,000!

Macquarie have incredibly stringent lending guidelines which is why they disapprove so many apps. If you've applied for a ton of cards and loans you're too volatile for them.

I applied for this card and got approved last night, just waiting for it to show up now.

  • First card I've ever been rejected for :( I guess I figured out what the limit was for the number of credit cards I can safety have… And from now on I will ask banks to only lend me the minimum and not just whatever they want - ANZ gave me a card with a limit of a third of my annual income and with my other cards on top of that it's easy to see why Macquarie noped out.

  • Seems like even if you are Gold status you wont get any of the benefits unless you book direct with Hilton?

I booked a BKK stay via the Booking.com 75Euro discount deal and called up Hilton BKK to give them my Gold status # but they said I wont get any of the Gold benefits cause I didnt book via the (more expensive) Hilton website.

I think they only thing I get is free wifi :(

No free breakfast, no preferred room upgrade, no extra points, no late check out.

    • Send email to Hilton reward program to inquire?

      • Ok will fire of email today and post what happens.

        • +1

          Just spoke to online chat.

They confirmed - all status benefits are ignored and dont apply when you book via 3rd party websites.

You are not considered a member of honors program if you dont book via Hilton.

Told them that was strange outcome, in particular if I travel for work the company does all booking via an agent or a third party website, they never use Hilton.com , does that mean my status is ignored?

When compared to airlines programs it wouldnt be.

They then said I should call Hilton honos desk for better explanation.

Will post what happens next but it seems like Honous program is less of a bargain unless you want to pay Hiton premium prices.

        • @bargrin: probably similar to Accorhotels except that I only book Accor hotels when there is 40% 50% sale on their website. Last thing you can try is show your card at check in and request upgrade. No harm to try :D

        • @kctt:

          Here is there offical response:

Stays booked via third-party websites are ineligible for Honors points. This also applies to your benefits as an Honors member. It's at the hotel's discretion whether they will be honored.

    • Hilton website is rarely more expensive if you look at the member rate.

And if it is, best rate guarantee kicks in and makes it even nicer.

      • Yeah on looking at it again your correct the Hilton online site has equally cheap rates when you log on to your Honours account.

But my recent booking was with the $110 Booking.com cashback which I doubt they would price match….or would they?

        • I don't recall seeing that offer so know nothing about it. Would probably depend if publicly available or if it was some kind of member reward program.

Edit: just found the offer. Since you pay effectively full price then get the credit back after the stay I would think they would only match on the full price you paid. So probably a case of determine which is more valuable, the status benefits and HH points earn, or the cashback.

  • For those that signed up to this card previously, has anyone been upgraded to Diamond status? I received an email the other day confirming this. I have only stayed a total of 1 night since signing up.

    • Shhhhhh.

If glitches happen, don't draw attention ;-)

      • It was a nice surprise. But not as good as the unlimited gift card glitch.

    • +1

Yes, if you signed up last year and spent on the card for certain amount yearly then you would be upgraded automatically. I got diamond status without staying even 1 night

  • Hi guys,

In regards to statement " plus a sign up bonus of an additional weekend night certificate when you spend $2,000 in first three months"

Does anybody know when we'll receive the weekend night certificate?

Do we get it after our first year is done? Or will you get an email saying you've qualified for it?

    Thank you

    • +1

Mine came through the day after my transaction taking me past $2000 posted.

      Edit: yes, via email.

  • Does anyone know if you need to book & stay before the expiration date (or if you can book before it expires but the stay can be after expiry)?
    Thanks,

    Gary.

    • Now confirmed book and stay before the expiry date, not book before and stay beyond.

  • Applied on mid-last week, just got a "missed call" text message (but no actual missed call).

Called in to their lovely offshore team asking me to confirm my details (income, expenses etc) I told them I'd call back when in a better location to respond.

The last time I applied I had to speak to the same team who confirmed the same details that I put in online and eventually was rejected. Doesn't look good. I meet their income requirements but maybe my expenses are too high? Is a saving of $1k/month sufficient I estimated it at that but maybe I need to work it out better but I would think that would be ok at a minimum.

She also mention they were waiting on a proof of (second) income!? even though I sent in a payslip and have just one income. Not sure if my expenses are too high then? I do meet their income requirement without a problem. Might also send in my July 2017 payg summary.

Anyone know if an institute carry out a credit check will it reveal how much open credit I have? If I cancel my Westpac Black credit card to reduce the available credit I have, will Macquarie see that or do they just see an enquiry item on my file for $16K credit.

  • Just a note on Macquarie Cards - they have a 3 day processing time from a Macquarie Bank account to a Macquarie Card. We couldn't understand why transactions were being declined over the weekend, when a payment had been deducted from our Macquarie account on Friday. As of Monday still "pending".
Customer service rep confirmed "that's normal" this morning.

  • Looks like the minimum taxable income is now $50k. From "Stage 2" of the application:

"Minimum credit limit of $6,000 applies. You need to earn a minimum taxable income of $50,000."

  • $0 annual fee (apply and be approved by 31 October 2017)?

can you add an additional cardholder later on after getting approved for the card or does it have to be at the time of application and will you pay no fee still? do they do credit checks on additional cardholders?

  • I spent $2,500 in two months but no notification of the free night stay for spending $2,000 within 3 months.

    Anybody else the same?

    • You should receive email notification after the statement that brings you over the $2000 spend.
Maybe call them if this is the case.

    • I was the same, but received the notification this morning. What has to happen is the payment for the month you spent over the limit needs to clear first. Mine was only due Monday and it took another 24 hours after the payment cleared for the certificate to be generated.

  • they want me to email a copy of my drivers license even though I already have a mac bank transaction account and have been id. is this normal? apparently they don't talk to the other depts. or hae access? whats the email address I should be sending my id too?

  • Is this deal still available?

    • Yes, the offer has been extended to applications approved by 31st October 2017.

      • Awesome.
Would you know the best Hilton resort we can stay apart from Maldives in Asia?

        • +1

The expensive ones are the Conrads & Waldorf Astoria, but even the Hiltons can be expensive in some places.
If you search the Hilton website it will show you all the ones available in the particular place you want to go.

  • How does the weekend certificate work? Does it mean it's 2 days free stay?
I can't seem to find any details on Macq website.

    • No, one free night (that must be on a weekend).
You can use 2 certificates to stay 2 consecutive nights if you wish.

      • Thanks. Still good if stay in a resort. Too bad the certificate expires after 12 months.

        • Yep & you must book AND stay within the 12 months.

  • do you earn points if you pay via bpay or pay your rates via credit option with this card?

    • You won't get points when paying via bpay or Post Billpay. But if you can pay your rates directly (without bpay) you should get points. That may depend on what council you belong to, whether you can pay rates directly without bpay.
