  • I may be missing something here, but is this not the same Xiaomi phone for US$409.99 at TomTop?

    https://www.tomtop.com/xiaomi-5/p-pz0041b-us-64.html

    • the current price is already 462 USD so I image the sale price wil be $497 AUD?

    • That is indeed the same phone. Tomorrow (when the deal starts) it will be available for ~US$375 / AU$497.

      • still usd462

What's the deal with the OS of these phones? Do you need to flash it yourself to an English ROM? Does it come with the ROM installed? This was confusing me so ended up buying OnePlus 3T.

    • +10

The Xiaomi Mi6 includes the Global ROM (English) running Android 7.1. The Mi Mix Pro has a Global ROM installed too. Feel free to read the description of the phone first to clarify.

      • Newbie here,so stupid question coming….

Is there any band limit / restriction to use the Mi6 in Australia, or it's all good as it has the global ROM installed?

        Thanks!

        P.

    • +1

Sheesh. Whats with the downvotes? Genuine question. All my family members come to me for recommendations so would recommend a Xiomi Xiaomi if I know it will be an easy experience. I also would consider a Xiamoi next time around. Came this close to buying am Mi5s.

    • 1) Thanks for letting us know about the lowest price yet for the Mi6.

    • 2) Are the other phones at their lowest too?

    • 3) I don't recall any of these phones having B28, and might be important to most buyers

    • +2

I haven't been watching the other phones close enough to know about price being lowest yet. But generally the phones featured in sales like this are competitive, if not the best yet.

  • -5

Wow, I never knew the Mi Mix was only 1080P @ 6.4 inch.

  • +2

These seem to be well priced. I was in China this February and was surprised to know that Xiaomi phone no longer a popular choice there. I have no idea of the cause but Xiaomi products are always tempting to me.

    • +1

So what is their popular choice now?

      • +1

my first guess would be apple

      • +2

Huawei if they can't afford Apple

      • +2

huawei, oppo and vivo are more popular. Meizu, oneplus and some others also have lots of fans.

  • Are those prices in AUD or USD?

    • AUD.

  • +1

Hmmm. Can get the RN4 from Geekbuying for $7.56 extra with the 'safety' of PayPal. 🤔🤔🤔

    • +3

AliExpress has a great buyer protection system.

The best way to protect your purchase is to carefully check the seller’s feedback from his buyers and product description before ordering. The seller from this deal is well trusted

      • +1

Yeah just heard a lot of horror stories when dealing with Aliexpress for refunds and warranty purposes.

        • +2

Same could be said about PayPal. My personal experiences have been great with both :)

        • @PR0r: But few people don't want to give Credit card details to Aliexpress.
No law protecting you from its security. Paypal has Australian presence.

  • That mi mix is very very tempting. I'm waiting for the second edition or the v30, but That's pretty good price for the mix.

  • -4

Once the initial buyer protection is over from AliExpress, good luck with the invisible Chinese person you dealt with. Warranty sounds like "wasn't me".

    • It's for sale by the Xiaomi store.

      • I didn't notice that. I'm surprised they're selling to Australia. Still not sure about how they handle warranty. Any idea?

  • +2

Fantastic price for the MI 6. I currently own one (bought when the price dropped to just over $600) and it is easily the best phone I have ever owned. Build quality is amazing, speed is amazing, software (unlocked and ROM installed from xiaomi.eu) is amazing and would also never go less than 6GB of RAM now.

    • Good to hear. What phone did you use prior to the Mi6? I'm giving it some serious thought and not sure if I should bite now or wait for the Mi6 Plus.
How do you find the 5.15" screen?

      • I prefer phones of a 5.2" variety, I find that they sit well for my hand size/one handed use.

        Phone history for me:
        Xiaomi Mi 6
        Huawei P9
        Microsoft Lumia 950XL
        Nokia Lumia 930
        Nokia Lumia 920

If anyone else has questions, feel free to ask. :)

        • Useful, how do you rate the camera vs the P9? Cheers

        • +2

@Risto: I didn't find the P9 camera to be that great (I was coming from a 950XL which had an excellent camera). The Mi 6 I feel takes slightly better shots in well lit conditions, but they do seem to be over-saturated. This is all on automatic of course, still playing around with the settings. Here is a photo I took on the weekend (only edit to the photo was changing the size): https://imgur.com/gallery/wLlP2.

        • @snowdognz: looks good. What is it like in low light conditions? My mi4 was terrible.

        • +1

@Risto: It's not great, but I think with software (algorithm?) improvements it should get better. Apparently the sensor is one that Xiaomi hasn't used before.

        • @snowdognz: that's enough for me. I'll stay away until they get it right. Thanks for that

        • The Nokia 930 was a good phone.
Wow you go through a lot of phones.

        • @Cubacat: I know… I didn't want to switch away from my 950XL (it was fast and still is the best camera in a phone I have ever used) but I couldn't put up with the lack of apps any more. All good though, manged to sell it to offset the cost of my P9.

I agree, Nokia 930 was an excellent phone at the time.

  • Is that price for the Redmi Note 4 $180 tomorrow for all three colors, or just the cheaper Gold as now???

I want preferably the black, then grey, definitely not gold lol.

    • I ordered the black note 4x day before yesterday for 205 and DHL.

      • Hope your happy with your purchase and thanks for sharing. Was asking about the Note 4 in black specifically.

        • I am waiting for it , will update once I have it.

I have purchased note 4/ 4x in white, gold, rose gold and black previously too.

This one is for my dad, he wouldn't let go of the LG G2.

My wife uses the note 4 (Mediatek x20) and she loves it

    • +1

I'd say just the gold :)

    • +1

This was my issue.. its always the pink and gold models..

I picked a 16GB black one up on ebay for $170 in last wednesdays ebay 15% off dealy o

there is a chance this will happen again tonight..

  • +1

If you use the app, there's various ways to earn coupons to bring the price down further.

Also, you can use cashrewards with the app (didn't work for me the first two times, but the last time I tried, it tracked)

  • +1

They don't have a 128GB model? I think 64GB is not enough, but 256 is too much extra, and I don't need it. 128GB would be the sweet spot.

    • +1

I used to think that 32GB would be insufficient for my needs. I haven't yet used up to 10GB on my phones. Offline Spotify playlists are the only things I ever use to fill them up. Better to have the extra space and not need it than to need it and not have it.

      • +2

32GB is barely enough for my apps, but passable. 64GB is enough for apps, but not enough for my media. Would be adequate if I could add an SD card, but Mi phones don't have SD slot.

64GB + no slot = not enough for me
        64GB + slot = Perfect.
128GB + no slot = Not as ideal since it costs more, but good enough. You still don't have as much as you can get with an SD card but I'll live.
        256GB = I don't think I'll need that much and too expensive.

        • My Redmi Note 3 Pro has 16GB and a slot. It's just about right for me.

  • I like the look of this one
    https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Original-Global-Ver…
But I'm having a very hard time understanding the differences between the models, too many to choose from!
    Redmi 4X - 2GB/16GB
    Redmi 4X Pro - 3GB/32GB
    Global Redmi 4X Pro - ??
Redmi Note - 5.5 inch (compared to 5.0 above)
    Redmi 4 Pro - Snapdragon 625

Now I'm assuming the processor won't make a difference for a novice like me. Should I be getting the global version and why? Is there anything else, blatant or subtle, that I'm missing?

Thanks for your help, I'm learning! (slowly)
    Curly.

    • I can't really speak on the differences between models, but you will want to grab the global version of whatever you get. These come with Google Play pre installed, whereas the Chinese versions do not.

      • Thanks Danger.

  • its past midnight, what time does this deal start?
    looking to buy

oops it says 5pm, carry on

  • +1

Think I'll upgrade from my mi5 at that price.
Have been watching the mi6 for the past month or so.

Gone be hard to offload my mi5 for more than a few bucks in Australia, I guess.

  • The second last redmi note is also the 4x

  • I buy all my "Lego" at AliExpress , Best bargain site that exists

  • Got an mi6, only 40 left in combo options.

    Edit - mi6 sold out

    • Back to full price.

  • Gold only for note 4 boo

Xiami MC Store has a sale as well: https://xiaomimc.aliexpress.com/store/2336004

Bought a Mi MAX 2 ..Payment confirmed now awaiting shipment! $330 after coupon

  • I think sale finished already. Price are good but not dirt cheap. Easy to find something equal or better on Banggood, except the MI6.

  • How long it takes to deliver?

    • Depends on the shipping method you chose. Usually up to 4 weeks on free shipping, sometimes a lot sooner, sometimes a bit longer.
In my experiences most items I've purchased from AliExpress take ~3 weeks.

      • ordered with DHL, I'll see how long it takes

        • Still waiting?

  • +2

Anyone can share their news on their purchases?

    I ordered with DHL shipping.
It has been over 10 days and my order is still processing.
Contacted them and they are giving me lame excuses.

    • Similar situation here… I've ordered Mi Max 2 with DHL shipping about 2 weeks ago.
They say they've shipped the phone with tracking number.
Goes onto DHL tracking page and tracking number doesn't work.
Contacted them and no reply :(

      • I told them I am going to request a refund and report them as a scam if there is still no progress.
And then half an hour later I got an email from Aliexpress saying the item is shipped with a tracking number that does not work.

        Looks pretty dodgy so far.

        • +1

          Are you still waiting?

  • I'm still waiting , as is a mate I recommended on buying the mi6.

    Some lame battery certification story.
I will probably cancel order after this week, it's taking too long.

Also, they are still selling the phones they supposedly can't ship, which just gives me the grrrrs.

  • Still not shipped.. Seriously,..

  • shipped in 1 month to the day (with DHL express)… horrible.
