    FHD.. no thanks

But good buy for parents ! I bought a 21" FHD for my parents at this price

    9:00 guys… common common common!

    • -7

      FHD is so 2004 πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

      • depends on …

      • +1

For sizes upto 23-24", FHS might be fine. Not for bigger size than that. But you might need to pay a bit little.

        • 2x27" monitors here and I am very happy with QHD. Dell U2717D. Used almost exclusively for Office.

Has Windows properly resolved font scaling issues with high res monitors?

        • +1

@kipps: no if you have a high spirits screen things are still scaled haphazardly. One of the reasons I hate using the surface tablet is that it has a really high resolution and some things scale really well but others are either tiny or enlarged and blurry. Really bugs me.

    • Personally I bulked more at the 5ms response, than the resolution.

  • +3

    1080p on 27" in 2017? LOL

    • +7

At least it's not 1366x768 like some laptops going around haha

      • +4

I am on of those who has that laptop haha

      • +1

guys at work signed a new laptop deal this week… with shitty monitors again… arrghhhhh the f***ing pain :(

      • 1366 x 768 is what I'm viewing 99.999% of my laptop time. Suits me fine.

On a 15-inch screen at close-ish distances it is close to ideal unless you are doing some specialist work that requires more screen real-estate or pixel density. On the other hand, the colour shifts, generally poor colour and narrow viewing angles are not so nice. I'd complain about that well before airing any resolution grievances, but everyone is different.

The whole laptop draws around 8W when idling, most of the time…which is far lower than any monitor I've seen, so you take the good with the bad.

        • +1

Now that I'm used to my FHD 13.3 inch laptop (Toshiba Chromebook 2 2015) I could never ever go back!

        • @thescarecrow84:
I think once Windows laptops come configured with full HD at low-end prices, we'll see a change in tastes on the mass-market level. Personally, I could never live with the limitations of a chromebook: too many apps need Windows.

    • +9

ps there's some of us who have crappy eyesight and appreciate the "normal" resolution on a slightly larger monitor~! :D

      • +5

All the more reason to get hi-res and up the font size.

      • +2

Yeah, in the old days hi-res meant small writing…
…nowadays there is "resolution independence" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resolution_independence
So hi-res just means sharper text

        • +2

totally… i bought 2x 34" qhd dells last week, my eyes are struggling a little at the moment, i don't want to give into the 125% option in windows, but i suspect i may have to :D
(my wife's already complaining about the tiny writing)

also very impressed with how crisp and clear these new ones are compared to my old ones, very happy.

      • +1

ps there's some of us who have crappy eyesight and appreciate the "normal" resolution on a slightly larger monitor~! :D

And I'd argue that these people make up the overwhelming majority of the market…and not necessarily have to have bad eyesight but merely prefer bigger pixels at the distance they view the monitor. There is always a vocal minority that think old stuff is instantly 'old hat' and almost worthless overnight simply because a New Thing is out (often costing several times more).

        • +1

The overwhelming majority of the market does not believe 1366x768 at 15 inches is even adequate because it looks atrocious compared to higher resolutions such as 1920x1080 and the lack of space to do things makes it impractical and unproductive.

        • @Diji1:

The overwhelming majority of the market does not believe 1366x768 at 15 inches is even adequate because it looks atrocious compared to higher resolutions such as 1920x1080 and the lack of space to do things makes it impractical and unproductive.

Atrocious? Impractical? Unproductive? Can I ask what you are doing? Colours aside, I wonder if we are even on the same planet. I find the resolution perfectly fine.

The overwhelming majority who like to be portable don't mind lower resolutions and don't particularly want to lug around a separate monitor with better resolution to browse the web. The overwhelming majority of laptops have sub-1080p resolution. Why? 1366x768 is perfectly fine for the majority of laptop users.

Of course if you want a separate monitor, full HD resolutions are perfectly adequate for most tasks. Only users with specialist needs need more. Enthusiasts and monitor fanbois. So yes, the majority of the market is fine with it. The vocal minority isn't. As soon as the New Thing comes in, they are all-too-ready to dismiss the older stuff. Even though it's perfectly good for the majority of tasks, for the majority of people, and for the majority of the time.

  • -2

damnit.. if they had a 4k monitor would have been instant buy..

  • +2

Hoping for something better at 9 :D

  • Not 4k…

  • +13

One last deal after this one! It's sure to be memorable…right?! RIGHT!?

    • +4

I'm sure it will be memorable the question is will it be for 3 crap deals then a great one or memorable because they've done 4 crap ones as the last ones

  • Is it possible to post the original price when you post please? I have no idea whether this is a bargain or not

    • +1

Read the above comments. In summary, don't buy it

    • +1

Is it possible to post the original price when you post please? I have no idea whether this is a bargain or not

What does the original price have to do with something being a bargain or not? Look at this solar panel listing to see how useless it is.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/315781

Using your logic this is an instant purchase because of the "saving".

      • +3

Ignore the "was $xx.xx", best way to tell is to google the product and see what it sells for elsewhere. In this case it is the cheapest I can find it, but not by much, and since it's only 1080p and not especially desirable, it's nothing to get excited about.

      • I want to know so I can buy then sell. Happy with my justification to you?

        • -1

I want to know so I can buy then sell. Happy with my justification to you?

No because it makes no sense at all. Why don't you go and buy the solar panels I listed, using your logic you will make over $500 for each set you sell!

  • 9pm

  • +1

  • +9

Each hourly deal is another nail in the coffin and why we all eagerly await the arrival of Amazon

  • Tonight is supposed to be the finale….but man what a disappointment it has been so far….not holding my breathe for 9pm.

Only way eBay will redeem themselves is 20% storewide :D

    • Good thinking - you likely wouldn't have survived.

  • +5

    Not 8k

  • Defiantly not the worst bargain

    scamaz

  • +2

They should have started the month with these deals and worked their way up to the good ones like 10,15 and 20% off. They seem to be going backwards.

  • +3

Everyone here having a go at 1080p and im here with my Benq 27" 1080p thinking 1080p is fine it's 60hz that's the bad part.

    • I have no idea about hz but I have had enough of my 24" BenQ 1080p which is about 8 years old. Just looks very average compared to my FHD 14" laptop, probably because it isn't IPS. But I want 4k now.. text and photos look sooo much sharper and more pleasing to the eyes.

^ this is what i have without the Zowie branding.

picked it up second hand for $125 a year ago.

Im not in a rush to upgrade as i want a 4K monitor at 144hz (not to play ALL games at 144hz only some)sadly none are out yet.

        • I am not in a rush to purchase anything fancy either. Ideally I want something around 30", 4k and HDR. I don't play PC games any more but I might get back into it in the future, but i'd like to use my Xbox One S occasionally on there to watch 4K Bluray and games with HDR. I guess that would require a high refresh rate..

But if something cheap comes up in 27-32" size i'd buy it straight away for general use (word, internet, photo editing etc)..

        • @nubzy:Right now is there was a deal for 27" 4k $350 or under not kogan or unknown brand i'd bite.
But a 27" 1080p 144hz at around $350 or under would interest me also.

          I have a ps4 pro/gaming PC and 100mbps NBN to stream netflix 4k.

Hard to find the deal with price jacking every ebay 20% sale.

  • +2

I'm getting more bored by the hour. What's next? VOSS 800ml for $1 delivered? Ok, count me in :)

    • +5

  • IT'S FUTU WHAT DO YOU EXPECT!!!

  • -2

Bought my 27" 1080p monitor 4 years ago for $130…

  • +2

Why am I even on here… sitewide discount where are you? :'(

  • The suspense is killing me

    • I'd laugh if they give us an xbox one s deal for $299, just for the lulz

  • wow these deals are rubbish. gahhh. was thinking the last ones would be the best.. oh how wrong i was

    • it's not the last one yet

    • so logically they want to use these to drive sales right and traffic to the store? So starting with the best deals gives time for word of mouth to spread so more people come back and a longer time for you to keep revisiting keep checking and possibly buying other things before the EOFY. What benefit is there in doing an amazing deal at the last minute that would cost them more than just you know average deals, because the buzz/word of mouth will dry up quick once EOFY is over not matter what they offered.

Of course though they want you to keep checking.

      Dreaming.

Longing for that sweat sweat szechuan sauce. That limited edition Mulan special sauce..

And I don't can if it takes me 9 years of watching eBay I'm going to find it on there dammit! Wait what I got off track.

  • Its a freesync monitor, which explains the higher price, for the uninformed its essentially the same as g-sync for AMD graphics cards

  • Where's the real ozbargains?

  • 20% sitewide to mark an memorable end of EOFY sale. common ebay we're waiting

  • +2

Fingers and toes crossed for one last Big Bang sale at 9pm to celebrate the end of the financial year and bring in the new one!!

    • +2

I got my third leg crossed for this one too!

  • Anyone can guess what's going on sales at 9?

    • +1

I hope its the DJI mavic pros again

    • +1

      Extra 2% on TGG sale

  • Just give us 20% off ebay, geez.

  • +1

Ebay realised that we realised that everybody realised that the first deal was good and the rest were rubbish..
Now they have realised that they should do what TV programs do and make you watch till the end to see the only bit that you are interested in, else you leave..

    • +2

I just realised that you didn't realised that you use the word realised a lot.

      • +1

Trust me, I realised that I was going to use the word realised but I wasn't sure whether everybody would realise.

  • 21:00

  • +2

It's like a catch of the day crapathon, woo! not..

  • What's happening at 9?

    • +1

They'll offer us 9% off sitewide lol

  • +2

Eh, not terrible if you're in the market for a monitor that's <$350, In fact, probably the best you can get. $236 after 5% off, I personally would of snapped this up a few months ago when I needed a monitor for my build, not worth "upgrading" my current monitor to though. PCCG have it for $369, would say a 30% saving isn't that bad, is a pass from me though, not worth the impulse buy. Surprised it's copping as much heat as it is though.

  • +2

Maybe it will be QC35's for $249 with a free fidget spinner to wipe the smug look off my face

    • Let's hope it is, so more people can get it
