100hz is crap anyway. It just inserts repeated frames. You don't gain any new information.

        • Yeah if you are just using the TV for gaming, '100hz' is useless. Some people like it for movies though.

  • Hi does anyone knows if the android os rooted or not? can u install and watch optus fetch on iy

    • +2

Why would the TV come with a rooted version of Android?

      • Wel not rooted per say but rather untrusted like the chinese android tv not rooted but not registered or something and optus fetch does not work on them. So the only questrion did anyone tried fetch tv?

  • +2

Has anyone priced matched at the good guys?

They have a price of $2294.00
    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/sony-65-inches165cm-uhd-led-l…

Based on their promo that they will beat / after purchased pay 120% of the difference which is currently $496.00

(i would presume local stock would be needed, but if can find 2 stores close) could get a great price???

    Cheers

    • Tried a couple of HN and TGG stores in VIC. no stock. TGG has the X8500 which is over 3k.

    • They wouldn't go any lower.

  • I bought mine from Costo Last year in november for $1550. Its a good TV except sometimes wifi drops (when you turn on the TV), i've to reenter password but other than that i haven't found anything wrong with this tv. I hope the new update that just came last week may have fixed this issue.

Its a good TV except sometimes wifi drops

It's not just this model or brand, a lot of TVs do this.

    • Not aure if a factory reset will help but generally with android anything that was working and stops or firmwared it may gix it.

  • Can anyone advise if this TV supports the Plex app and ABC iView app? Is there a Browser? Also, what version of Android?

    • +1

Websites says so for their android based tv … http://www.sony.com.au/electronics/smart-tv-features-apps-an…

      • Thanks. Just bought one, can't pick it up today though as the warehouse is closed.

        • Browser is probably Opera.

        • @Scab: in plex\iview? Or are you saying the browser used by default on the TV? Doubt it would be opera when the android system is by google.. higher chance it is more likely chrome.

        • +1

          @duketing:

The TV browser is Opera, Chrome don't do a browser for TV.

    • +1

Yes, yes and yes. I have one at home and it supports Plex, iView and Opera.

      • Thanks, I had already ordered it but that's good to know.

  • whats the best price people have been getting for the kd55x7000d?

  • +1

Thanks OP. Ordered one today. Paid $1710 for it and $65 delivery. @enjoenjo They wouldn't budge on the price of the 55inch. With a difference of about ~$500 between the 55inch and the 65 inch, the 65 gives more bang per buck IMO. Good luck!

  • Thanks OP, bought one today, JB give further discount on TV and Warranty too

I had a quick look at this TV in store. Maybe it was the default settings, but seemed really less vibrant than some of the other TVs. Having second thoughts on whether to get this or not. Currently leaning more towards, not… and waiting for a good deal on a better model.

    • +1

I agree, looks like crap in store. Blacks are grey, colours have no vibrancy. Image had jitter too. The Hisense options looked better.

      • according to RTINGS:

"The XBR65X750D is judder free when watching movies from 24p or 60i/60p sources without any problem. For a judder-free experience when watching movies with 60i or 60p sources like a cable/satellite box, you need to set the 'Motionflow' option to 'True Cinema' in the 'Advanced Settings' of the 'Picture Adjustments'. 24p signals do not require any setting adjustments to play smoothly."

        • Fair enough. Guy at the store didn't seem too interested in addressing the issue for me and refused to discount so I left it at that.

      • +1

Check out the 2017 model, it has a VA panel which has improved picture quality at the expense of a narrower viewing angle.

"The Sony X850E has a good contrast ratio. At around 4500:1, it is a big step up from the 2016 X850D (IPS TV) which had a contrast ratio of only 1248:1."
        Sony X850E Review

        • Yep saw that model on the same day. Looks great, but another 1K on top of this deal.

    • It's the entry line Sony. If you want better you need to go 8500 or 9300

  • Hmm feels bad i paid $1499 for a 55" X8500D :( would have preferred slightly less spec and a larger screen for $300 more ..

    • Make that $200 as some people have been able to get it for $1700.

  • I Purchased an X8500 a couple of months ago, and I must say, it's a pretty good TV BUT - and I took this for granted thinking that most if not all Smart TVs have this feature now days - is the lack of PAUSE / Rewind of Live TV. My 7 year old Samsung had this feature and did it flawlessly, I was actually quite shocked that the Sony wasn't able to. Have also done a recent software update hoping it would add this feature but it still hasn't. So for anyone thinking of buying this model, and likes to pause / rewind Live TV, you won't be getting it on this TV. You can schedule and record shows to HDD but just can't pause and rewind.

    • Did you put a USB in for storage so you can use that feature?

  • +1

Android 7.0 update is here - http://www.sony.com.au/support/product/KD-65X7500D/download - "System Software Update for Asia Pacific
07 Jun 2017 PKG6.2508.0051PAA" - you need a USB stick to install it. Sony haven't made the update available on the TV's "Check for software updates" function yet.

Thanks Nom. Picked mine up tonight and I've already set her up and I'm so happy with the TV. Coming from a Gen 1 46" LCD TV to this is like Day&Night.

Updated Android to 7.0 as per your post and all went well.

Only one niggling problem and I'm hoping someone could help me out. I have a Yamaha Receiver which has a pass-through link. All my HDMI devices are connected to my receiver. From my receiver, a HDMI out is now connected to my Sony X7500D HDMI 1. For some reason, whenever I turn on my new X7500D TV, my Yamaha receiver is also automatically switched on as well. Does anyone know how I can stop this from happening? My old Samsung TV wasn't doing this!!.

    • What is the performance like with new firmware?

      • I couldn't tell as I updated to the new firmware straight after I got it out of the box and hooked everything up.

    • When I inseted USB stick with update in it. The message came up saying your software is up to date.

      • They're probably shipping them pre-updated now. Check your version number against the one on the Sony page above.

    I ordered one today :)

  • No more stock? The site is no longer available for me.

    • Most likely SOLD OUT hence JB removed the product page.

    • There is very limited stock, so you need to be quick

  • Anyone installed Kodi and how was the performance on it?

    • +1

I got my tv last night, installed kodi and was pretty snappy. Plays most formats without any issue from 1080p stereo to DTS-HD and TrueHD

      Haven't tested 4K movies yet
