Hoya Pro1 Digital Circular PL Filter - $30 with Free Delivery (55mm Filter Size) @ Harvey Norman Online

160

Not a bad price for a decent CPL filter with multicoating and a low profile. The 52 ($40), 58 ($50), and 62 ($40) filter sizes are also available although they are more expensive.

Item description: The Hoya Pro1 is digital multi-coated to reduce the appearance of lens flare and ghosting, and also boasts a low profile frame to help avoid vignetting on super wide angle lenses and also hold a lens cap.

Hoya is a well known brand that produces good quality filters. This filter is sold on ebay but usually goes for $45+ from overseas sellers so this price is a bargin IMHO.

Ebay sells all sorts of filters so not sure which ones you are specifically referring to but I would avoid buying a no-name branded filter if you have a decent camera/lens - all you will achieve is reduce the image quality by putting a poor quality filter on the front of your expensive lens.

      • same name, hoya. roughly about 15$ish,

but i guess those must be fake.

        • Got a link? I only see a couple of used ones at that price.

        • Link? I dont think I have ever seen genuine Hoya filters go for that price on Ebay. Would be a great deal if you can find a genuine seller for that price.

Hoya isn't Hoya - there are 3 or 4 "models" - Pro1D used to be the top model a few years ago, now there is HD and the latest one (name escapes me - anti-static) above it, but a couple of cheaper options below it.

Pro1D is good. This is a great price.

  • Sorry to ask a stupidly noob question but what does the 55mm refer to ?. Just starting out in photography. Thanks heaps !!

The size of the lens and is usually displayed at the front of the lens where all the white writings are.

      • Thanks heaps nightelves !

The diameter of the thread on the front of the lens

    • it is a filer thread of a lens.
easiest way to check it, go to bhphoto Web site and search the lens, then go to specs.
or just have a look at the front of the lens if you already have it.
