  • Depressing this isn't sold out.
Not that I'm going with way but still.

I suppose no Sanchez no party

    • -5

or No Party unless Wenger Out? ;)

      • +3

I always party with my wenger out….

        • +2

No party is complete without a dirty Sanchez.

  • +4

Lol "40 years in the making"

  • +4

    Alex Lacazette is coming !

    • +1

All most done deal. Lemar next?

  • +4

I'll wait until it drops to $20, my ozbargain conscious says so.

    • Yep, I reckon this will pop up on lasttix or there will be fire sale prices.

  • +1

Only person i want to see is Wenger!!!!

  • -5

    #WengerOut
Bring your banners and your posters.

  • +9

Ticketing these days sucks. You either get beaten by scalping bots and then pay double/triple on Viagogo, or you get in early enough and then regret it in situations like this.

    • +1

Depends on the event. Playing 2 exhibition matches in the same city with 160000 seats? Promoters must think Aussies are either desperate or stupid!

  • +1

Waiting and hoping for Saturday reductions..

    • there will be? cool bananas… $20 and i'll bite

  • I went to the recent Liverpool vs Sydney FC game and it wasn't sold out either. At least they got nearly 73k crowd which is fairly decent. They didn't have to discount those tickets to get that number.

    • Most people will select the Saturday game , particularly if they are bringing children etc.

    • +1

77k I think it was. A very good number considering tike from announcement to game was only a month. Arsenal's tour has been in the making for a while now.

      • More Liverpool supporters don't you think?

    • Wouldn't be so confident. I went to that game and my work was given a box of ~500 tickets to hand out for free the day before the game. An empty seat has never made a dollar. I bought a couple of beers so it is worth it to give them away closer to the date. Same for SOO game 2, I had diamond seats for free and they announced the game was a "Sell out" … not really.

  • Will be interesting to see which players are left behind (plenty of players almost out of contract).

  • +5

What are consumer's rights in relation to ticket price reductions?
I paid $400 for cat-A seats, to this game, this time last year when the seats went on sale.
$300 out of pocket for the same seats effectively, doesn't seem right to me?

    • -1

      what? seriously? 400? oh my

      • …surprise present from my wife, who bought the best possible seats available as I'm a huge Gunners fan.

Standard response from Ticketek twitter account that I'm not entitled to a refund on the difference… I'll be calling consumer affairs to confirm my rights :(

        • Let us know!!

        • Pretty shitty deal for you unfortunately :( I guess they'll come back with your seats are worth $400 and those are not the same ones for sale. Lame apples to oranges comparison.

        • +6

          @aurotaro:

I feel for the bloke but not sure that a refund should be made - that was the price offered at the time, the price was accepted and a contract made.

It's no different from other goods or services with demand based pricing, such as hotels or airfares. Should Qantas refund me because I booked in advance but the week before I fly the flights are $500 less? It's a spurious claim to make.

        • +2

@Sir Casm: agreed. I just said Ofcourse it feels shitty but it's the same as buying before a megasale.

Tough luck, but there's always money to be saved via OzB

    • -3

      Seriously.. are you over 16?

      Use logic.

Items go on sale in every shop. They don't write to offer refunds to anybody who paid full price (whether it is Coles or a Nissan dealership).

      Flip your logic..

You buy flights from Virgin as soon as they go on offer for 100 instead of 400. The prices then go back up. Do Virgin call you and demand an extra 300?

      You have ZERO refund rights.

      • +6

What's with the personal attack? "Are you over 16"?

I'm simply asking if anyone knows what consumer rights I have in this scenario. Sheesh.

        • +7

Ye to be fair I realised it was a bit OTT. Sorry.

        • +1

However, it wasn't exactly intended as an attack. It was a question.
You may not be an adult for all I know :)

But still, apologies. I didn't really come across well.

Eek, I am not wording anything well..

In essence, I was in the wrong. Wish I could advise how to help.

If you had bought $50 cheapo tickets then you could have effectively bought Cat A for an extra $50 .. $100 overall and you would win.

But $200 up front is harsh.

        • +5

          @smashed: No dramas mate.

        • @smashed:

Don't beat yourself up mate, there's no point in entertaining silly questions with serious answers. Your response was perfectly acceptable given the overwhelmingly sound & bleedingly obvious logic behind it.

    • +3

No chance of getting a refund. You paid $400 for seats that were worth $400. Now that they are struggling to sell tickets the seats have been discounted. If there are seats available in every section of the stadium then I would say they have only sold a very small number of tickets so far, maybe 5000 tickets only. Wow this might be the last time the Gunners come to Sydney for another 40 years based on those numbers.

    • +1

      Credit card price protection?

      • I was thinking that. I don't think I used my card with price protection for mine though. I'm only out $40 per ticket, I didn't buy category A. Maybe i should now at that price :)

    • Yeah, I paid something similar.. but to both games.. decided about 2 months ago I didn't want to go, so sold them on gumtree for about $20 discount.

Now i'm glad I did that!

      • Lucky boy!! There's people on Viagogo trying to offload them at face value still… And then some poor sods trying to get rid of them at a discount (hopefully these are scalpers getting burned). What a disaster though with heavy discounting to try to sell tickets. Ticket pricing to these things is always stupidly high.

I went to Liverpool at the MCG and Liverpool at Suncorp in the past few years but it's not worth top dollar to me now. I wonder if the market is a bit saturated for these things. Plus ANZ Stadium sucks, I hate the battle to get to the train after a game. When I lived in Sydney it could take 90+ minutes to get home…

    • +1

Feel for you mate! If you were more of a fairweather fan it would have cost you less.

    • +1

you paid more for the tickets considering you could have earned bank interest on $400. feel bad for you bro, but unfortunately there is nothing you can do. I guess the happiness you felt when you were gifted the tickets would be worth the money..

    • +3

Feel sorry for you mate, but you should be used to dissapointment being a gunners fan ;)

(just jokes, I am one too)

But yes, I don't see why the ticketing company should refund you the difference(or other amount) as the price your wife bought at was agreed on by her.

      • Consumer Affairs have confirmed this also.

Anyway, just thought I'd ask the question in the off chance someone else had any success in a similar scenario.

Carry on, everyone, enjoy your cheap tickets :D

    • +1

Feeling the same pain. I bought three of em. cost me $600++ :(

  • +5

does help that they are coming out after the worst league finish in 20+ years… when i used to play for them we used to win titles, anyone remember my hatrick against chelsea?

    • Nwankwo FTW

      • Bergkamp was a better striker.

        • So was Henry if you want state the obvious :)

    • -1

mainly remember your red cards and how you were in jail more often than on the field..

      • Kanu went to jail?

        • -1

yea, the OP kanu definately did..

  • -5

    Wenger Out

    • Please, stay at home. Real supporters only.

  • -1

Well that was worth booking tickets a year ago for.
I paid $89.50 each ticket! Flying to Sydney for it too.
They should've come to Melbourne, would have sold out for sure.

    • +1

you have tennis already.. and horse

      give soccer to sydney please

      • Yeah, you have a horse!

      • You can have the horse. Terrible "sport"

  • Lol a colleague at work this morning told me he got a steal for Cat A tickets when they were $130 each and that I wouldn't be able to find a better deal… Oh my.

  • Hello all Eurosnobs!!!!

  • You can't select more than 1 seat at the moment which suggests there weren't too many seats left.

Don't be so sad about seats you have already got.

  • I was able to put 6x Cat A tickets in my basket this morning.

    • Ok I'm sad now

  • I've been to a couple of soccer games at ANZ and regardless of where you sit you are too far away from the pitch.

    • Maybe some general admission seating but I can't say I've had any issues watching SOO or previous soccer games there.

  • All the Category tickets are now showing up at full price. Expired deal?

    • Just had a look. Still 49 for the Sydney FC Thursday game unless you're looking at the wanderers game on Saturday

      • Hmmm weird. Cat A tickets are now single seating available at $202 per adult. Cat B are still $131 per adult. This is for the Sydney FC Thursday match. Was I too late? Argh

        • Cat A is now single seats only. Rest are still available for 2 or more seats.

        • @aurotaro:

Actually never mind. Ignore my original post. Didn't realise OP's link was a URL with the code applied. Showing up at $49 for me now. Tempted to snap up the Cat B tickets.

  • Should be sold for $44 ;)

  • +1

Both matches are being shown live on SBS Viceland in HD
    http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2017/07/04/sbs-broadc…

  • Sydney FC are renowned for their plastic supporters. Did you really expect a sell out?

    • Spoken like a true delusional wandergrub

      • Oh sensitive smurf. Truth hurts?

  • Awesome. Thanks OP, I wasn't gonna go (as all my Arsenal mates are overseas on holiday) but at this price it was too good to pass up.

  • +3

Went to the Brazil v Argentina game at the MCG. My freind managed to get us ripped off for $110 to stand in the food court (yes really). Game was a low tempo kickaround. These friendlies are best avoided unless they are cheap - $49 is still too much really

    • If 49 for centrehalf seats are too much then God help ya.

      • +3

I'd pay a lot more if the game actually meant something. Think these premier league sides are using Oz as a cash cow.

        • Ofcourse they are mate. At the same time it's good for the young ones in our country to be inspired by. So many kids will go out and kick a ball the next day trying to imitate their favorite stars. It's just not the game, it's pregame activities signings etc. Etc.

        • Maybe you should visit the UK if you want to watch Arsenal play a match that meant something.

        • I'm from England, having said that Arsenal ain't cheap to see play there either. Most expensive premier league tickets in England. I've seen a ton of premier league and championship over the years so my view may be a little different.

        • @jelko: Yeh, agree. I saw my first Arsenal game in 1976, lifelong fan now emigrated. By the time I priced in a hotel, travel, food and tickets my family trip to see the Arsenal in Sydney was up towards $1000. I guessed it'd be cheaper to fly back to England own, see a real match and visit the rel-ies…. After watching the game on SBS I'm glad I didn't waste my money

    • Agree - I'd rather watch Under 5's taking it seriously than watch half assed pro's out here to make a quick buck

  • should of waited, could of saved my self a fortune. :(

  • not anymore at $49, i think?

    edit: still
weird this morning from my mobile all prices were up like $200

  • I play for an amatuer football club in Sydney and they are are now offering our club members free tickets to this game for anyone prepared to hand out (sell) the program guides t the game before kick off.

    • It is a pretty big stadium to be fair.

And located in a sh*thouse part of Sydney. And plus it's Arsenal fans… they struggle to fill up the Emirates ^_^

  • Who want to exchange Sydney one to Melbourne one please send me a message. I got 4 tickets for Melbourne Collingwood v Adelaide Crows at MCG Sun, 30 Jul 2017 3:20 PM

    • +1

      Totally different sports :P

      But good luck!

  • I got 3 category A tickets next to each other

    Pm me your best price!

    • Isn't the game in like 20 mins lol

    • There are two games. The second match is against WSW on Saturday.
