    Sony MDR1000X Noise Cancelling Headphones

    These actually work !!!

A Justin Bieber song came onto the radio and the headphones blocked out the whole song !!!

      😂😂😂 that's great to hear!!

      • +1

Probably not, that's why the song got blocked out.

  • Website says $405 but ticket in store says $399

    So it's a $6 saving then ?

  • Does duty free mean no gst

    • lol

    • lol

    • +1

      Yes

    • lol

  • Better than the Bose QC35s, by all accounts.

    • -1

Agree. I have a pair myself

    • +1

Okay serious question, is it though?
Bose QC35's are so damn comfortable, how are the Sony's?

      Srs question

      • +4

The Sony headphones are a little bulkier but are still extremely comfortable. They are bulkier only because they fit so much more technology in there than the Bose do. Like you can hold you hand on the right side and hold it there and it lowers the volume so you can have a conversation with someone without having to take your headphones off

        • Wow that's actually pretty cool!

        • @justcallmeboss: YouTube a video, its really cool!!

        • I've got the QC35s and I was a disappointed by them in all honesty. They work fine and they're comfortable but compared to the Sonys, they're very cheaply made and have inferior technology incorporated in the headset.

      • It will vary from person to person.

I put it on today and it was very comfortable. Light weight, the ear cups fit my ears perfectly. QC35 did not leave much room for my ears to breathe.

Granted I did not have them on for hours as I was at JB, so I can't say if it will remain comfortable after a long session.

        • I find that surprising because when I tried them at JB, the QC35s earcups looked and felt way roomier than the Sonys. Def comfier than the MDR1000X which pinched some parts of my ear. Putting on the QC35s for the first time though felt like putting my ears on a vacuum which took a while getting used to but helps with noise cancellation.

        • @Chickfilo: Everyone's ears are a different shape, size, and angle, so it varies from person to person.

      • Why is this dropping price so fast, was $499 2 month ago! quality issue? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/309028

Sony getting rid of old stocks? Hope new version have a better quality.

        • This offer is just an airport deal with JB. You most likely won't see it at this price with Aussie stock anytime soon.

  • +2

Tried them out today. These are good.

But I will wait for a deal that doesn't involve buying an international ticket.

  • $359 a good price for these? anyone seen cheaper?

    • +1

      where are they $359?

These don't have any GST component to refund

  • If you sign up for heinemann app you get 5% off first purchase. Don't know if it will work because this might be categorised as a sale item. Will confirm as I'm arriving tomorrow and will be buying a set.

    • That 5% offer excludes technology as the tech section is managed by JB HI FI

  • Quick comparison with Bose QC35 (I have both)
Bose has better noise cancelling and feels lighter when in use. This isn’t so much about the weight, but how the headphones “hold” or “squeeze” your head.
Sony has noticeably better sound quality. Not that the Bose sound bad, but the Sony sounds more dynamic. The Sony also has nicer and more convenient tech built-in, eg the touch sensitive ear-cup for audio control and muting.

So, if you’re getting these mainly for NC, especially on flights, get the Bose.

If you’re using them more for listening, get the Sony

    • +1

if you really need one for NC purposes, I believe QC20 is much comfort

      • but they're in-ears, not over-the-ear headphones. some people just don't like in-ears

    • I found the air? pressure of the QC35 to cause pain in my inner ear after extended use.

Do the Sony's have a similar effect?

      • +1

You will find that most noise cancelling headphones will have this sort of effect but I personally find the Sony headphones not as severe as the bose

        • Thanks mate. Let me sample with a demo unit first

  • -1

I heard you right, but it would've been funnier if you dropped the "n".

  • -1

Just overpriced crap !! I bought these headphones a few days ago and I won't even recommend it to my neighbor !!

  • How long is this deal valid for? Flying out on the 7th of August and there's no chance I'm paying an extra $6 online for them.

  • It's $397 now. Lol

  • +1

I got a pair. Talked to the Sony rep and he said they bought the price down to directly complete with the QC35s. I think it will be permanently at that price at the airport. Plenty of stock.

  • Going overseas in September, will wait it out, hoping prices drop further by then, will check it out then. Thanks OP

  • Found a way to get these for $210 and it was completely accidental but required some completely legal and wholesome scheming… More to come…

  • DAMN! Was hoping to pick these up when I fly out this friday, and I noticed the price is back to 643 :(

  • Bugger what's the point of having expiry dates if it can expire any moment. Seems to happen a lot these days.
