Received a flyer. It says that the Tab is worth $449. I'm sure you can get it for less. It's probably useful if you are going to subscribe to the newspaper in any case.

This tablets alright… middle of the road Samsung Tablet with a somewhat weaker graphics chipset. Okay for reading stuff on and good battery life. My battery lasts maybe 10 hours with light browser usage.
You can buy this tablet from eBay for $299 (minus whatever discount C5OZ gives you, $284 I think).
It definitely isn't worth anything more than $300, as it's no-where near as good or high end as the Tab S2 series.

A little misleading. The tablet isn't 'free' as $40 every 4 weeks is not The Australian's usual subscription rate.
The normal price for a new digital subscription is $48 for the first 12 weeks then $32 every 4 weeks with the weekend paper being free. Over 12 months that's $336 but you're not locking yourself into a 12 month contract.
So with this deal you're paying an additional $184 for a tablet that's $400 from Harvey Norman or $300 from Kogan.
Add to this the economic offset of gradual retardation from reading The Australian and this isn't a deal. Murdoch newspapers should come with warnings like on the side of cigarette packets, with photos of people clanking rocks and losing fights with cats.
