  • good deal, shame about the lack of expandable storage though, and i understand these arent the most durable phones going around.

Just an FYI there is no more hardware warranties left with this phone (Nextbit's official word is that it expires end of July)

    source Android Police

So if your phone dies… that's it, no free repair or replacement. It'd be no different from buying a China-phone at this stage.

Though it is very cheap, and might be interesting for people who want to play with a phone that's capable of many 3rd party ROMS, however because it runs SD 808, a chipset that's prone to overheating and throttling, casual users might want to get a Snapdragon 62x device (like a budget Xiaomi) as they run much cooler and use less power.

    • Just so everyone knows

The seller offers extra 1 or 2 year warranty through
http://www.cpscentral.com they send u an email when you buy to allow you to get that.

1 year part labour for $19.99
2 year parts and labour for 24.99

accidental coverage also can be added making it $49 for 2 years

Had one… loved it except for the battery life which isn't great and camera which is a little slow. Otherwise it looks great and performs really well.

Got one about 8 months ago for this kind of money. There's some video on the net of someone snapping the phone in half with their bare heads. I have so far managed to not do that for 8 months.

Really to get a good soc, NFC, fingerprint reader, vanilla Android 7.1. this is a good phone for the money.

  • Does this have a notification led?

    • +2

Yes it's at the bottom of the phone. Hard to notice during the day. But having said that I do not miss much so I must see it when it's on a desk or whatever.

Haha, I like the persistence of your line of questioning. I just noticed my new LG K10 2016 also lacks this much desired feature for me ( as well as the Y6 Elite ). Sony XA has this, but could be to blame for fast battery run down lol.

Purchased this phone about 6 months ago for my sister-in-law and haven't heard from her, so either it's working perfectly and she has no complaints or it doesn't work at all and she cant complain to me……either way I'm winning!!! :)

  • Note : this is a 3 year old phone.

i've had this phone for a year now.. one of the longest I've kept a phone :)

I keep looking at buying something else but nothing comes close for the money… all the bands needed, fingerprint etc,,,

I'm on Omni ROM and have had much better battery and much less heating.

I find the battery is fairly ok, and it's great that it has quick charge 2.0. the charger you get is quick charge as well. Since Android 7.0 the O's is as vanila as you'll see.

wtf.. those specs are really good for so cheap… 1080p screen, fingerprint, usb-c…

  • This is very tempting - my Nexus 5X grey import bootlooped a couple of weeks ago so it's currently in Hong Kong getting repaired. I've been using an old Nexus 5 which is on it's last legs but I like the look of the Robin.

I'm planning on selling my Nexus 5X when I get it back from repair and using that money to put towards a OnePlus 3T ultimately, but I need another phone in the meantime as the Nexus 5 is barely usable. What do people think is the better phone out of the following -
    - Nextbit Robin ($170)
    - Secondhand Nexus 6P ($250+ only thing that puts be off going this option is the massive screen size of 5.7")
    - One of the Xiaomi phones ($200ish)

    Cheers Benny

The Nextbit Robin uses the same chipset as the Nexus 5x. So it would be a side grade, possibly even a downgrade when you consider the camera on the Nexus 5x is actually pretty good, while Nextbit Robin has a mediocre camera.

a Second hand Nexus 6p can be a slightly risky purchase because the 6p is known to have serious hardware defects , meaning you could end up with a $250 dollar brick if there's no warranty.

I would be looking at Xiaomi if you want pure performance for the dollar but it's also hard to look past the Moto G5 for a phone that's available locally and which you can get in a brick/mortar shop with local warranty.

      • Thanks for the info. I did think about a G5 Plus but I'd want at least 32gb, Wych doesn't make it a really cheap proposition.

I reckon you're right on the Nexus 6p, too much of a risk and I don't really want a screen that big.

I know the Robin is a downgrade from the Nexus 5x in some regards but it is tempting at that price.

        Any recommendations on Xiaomi phones?

        • If you don't like big phablets you should get the older Mi5, which runs Snapdragon 820 (very fast), and has either 32 or 64GB models.

64GB Sold for round $260? while on sale but deals are mostly expired now.

and the Redmi 4X is quite popular. Do note there is a Redmi 4x and a Redmi Note 4x, one is low end and the other is mid-end.

  • YOUR20 gets you approx US $15 off

    • Does not work

    • That's a targeted ebay code.
