  • Annual fee kills it imo. Any chance they can waiver for a year?

    • The free flight usually more than covers the annual fee.

      • Is it a domestic flight? Any restrictions on where you can go and Can you sell/transfer it? If no then it's prob not worth it and hence the annual fee kills it

        • I have this card, and yes, a lot of restrictions.

          Positive:
          * You Can fly Syd/mel/bne - Perth (can't with Amex Plat Velocity, only other way around), or just about any other single-leg domestic flight.

          Negatives:
          * Nope, can't transfer.
          * All flights must be booked 2+ mths in advance.
          * Worse award seat availability than Amex (looked at booking flights SYD-Cairns about 4mths in advance over School holidays. ANZ flight - no availability; Amex - no problem).

Can't wait to tell ANZ to shove it before it's due. Poor value card, outside of the sign-on.

I got this card with the 60k promotion and had booked my free flight. I called to cancel the card after points and flight were done and they offered to reimburse the annual fee if I stay.

  • if the flight is easy to book, it's a good deal, but I am not sure weather there will be a lot of restrictions for booking the flight!!!!Maybe a lot of blackout date

    • need to call and book 60 days in advance. we were able to book 2 tickets to perth on australia day long weekend earlier this year. very good deal for the long flight.

it's availability is very similar to that of virgin's reward flights. probably won't be much available during christmas period

EDIT: this lets you fly to perth, darwin and ayers rock unlike the amex flights. however you can only book it in your own name (with the exception of the free extra flight sign up promo a few months back)

      • Thanks…that makes me really wanna apply now .. for my Christmas trip!!!

        • Don't be surprised if there is little / no availability, it's only for reward bookings, which always sell out quickly at busy times.

        • @Sir Casm: I am hoping to work out the availability of the free flights before calling up to book. Do you know if the availability of a rewards seats is a good indication?

        • @macadamia: anyone workout the availability during Christmas period?

        • @melay0326: Availability is pretty restrictive and a lot worse than rewards seats. I found "Getaway" fare availability to be a good guide.

Called them twice and they took at least 30 minutes to answer my phone on both occassions. Such a contrast to Amex Velocity free flight availability and service.

        • @macadamia: it's quite annoying you can only book during Mon-Fri 8-5PM

        • @melay0326: Agree. Will be cancelling mine shortly given the poor availability of free flights and no Amex.

    • Weather is 7 degrees and so is price of pancakes.

  • Is the free return flight every calendar year or every annual fee year?

    • Annual fee year. 12 months from signup.

Sweet. Was looking to transfer to this card from ANZ Qantas FF Card just yesterday - now it looks like I'll cancel the Qantas and re-apply for this.

FYI - the T&C preclude you if you've held the ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures credit card in the last 12months, but doesnt seem to apply if you've held an ANZ Qantas Frequent Flyer or an ANZ Frequent Flyer (ANZ Rewards) card.

So, potentially you could get the Qantas bonus, the ANZ Rewards bonus AND the ANZ Travel Rewards bonus here.

  • I have this. Just be aware, only the named person can take the flight.

  • Are the lounge passes transferable. Selling them could offset the annual fee [I'm gold already].

    • +2

Not transferable. Selling is not allowed. (There is no name on the pass but there is a serial number. Could they check? Maybe.)

  • +2

I am about to close this card once the Amex card has been deactivated.

  • -1

Is the free flight return??or one way??

  • I already have this card, can I get another? or do i cancel my first one and re-apply? anyone done this?

  • does the 0.75VFF for Visa include ATO, utilities and government payments?

    • No but you do get points for Trump payments to Russia.

  • This deal is still active as of right now

    • Not at the current link for this offer (as mentioned at the top of the deal as from pointhacks)

I did however just successfully submit an application from the exact same offer through finder.com.au. I have a feeling it might have to do with a limitation due to the "up to $150" commission that the affiliate partner gets from someone redeeming the offer through their website (see just under the apply button here).

Also FYI, this offer is for online only and can't be redeemed in a branch ("Selected online offer locations ONLY" the in-branch officer said anyway, emphasising the only part ;)
