  • Smart = Wifi control?

"element IQ-controls heating elements to suit what you are cooking,"
Looks like not only a thermostat, but a genuine LCD screen with real words on it to tell you you've chosen to use it.
I generally treat the name " breville" like I do "Belkin" - higher quality than no-name cheap crap but with ideas well above it's station.

      "Why fry?"

I have owned this oven for 6 yrs.. pretty useful unit. My only complaint, recently the "on" button started to play up.. you have to press it twice to kick start the cooking process.

    • Wait another 6 years and you will be pressing it thrice, that's the way it works.

  • Bought it a few weeks ago with the Good Guys deal and love it.

great oven bought it during the bing lee cashback deal

  • reading the manual it recommends running off a separate circuit. anyone able to shed some light on the power requirements and any issues it may have, particularly with old wiring.

      standard 10amp power outlet should be fine… 10a x 240v = 2400w

      • +1

the american version can only pull 1800watts at the socket.. 15amp x 120 volts.. count yourself lucky you live in Aus

        • +6

I do count myself lucky, but it's not because of 600w.

        • Sit on American one to compensate for missing 600w

  • I'm on my 2nd one in 6 or 7 years. A brilliant little oven we use extensively.
We're renovating our kitchen at the moment with no regular oven as we just don't need it with one of these.

I wish we had the range the yanks do https://www.brevilleusa.com/collections/smart-ovens

The Smart Oven Air looks the goods.

That's Breville for ya. Australian owned. Release in USA first.

      • +1

Well, not really methinks. Australian owned or not, Australia's economy is dwarfed, as compared with the US. I.E; Texas, only one US state, has a larger population and GDP than Australia.

That being said, I do appreciate your comment; it would be great if Australian based companies would release in Australia at least the same time and with the same range as International, but as I say we're just too small to really be taken too seriously, unfortunately.

US is test bed to confirm any shocks before releasing locally with stringent requirements.

        • @ozdesi:

Don't they normally test new products in smaller markets?

@WaywardOne: shock given to state of Texas sounds better than shock to entire Oz

    • This one is smaller, less useful overall but excels in toasting/baking bread and has an invaluable steaming function.

Bought the breville for the gf because her main oven is crap, however if it was decent id go for this one as the secondary.

    • The numnuts in Myers have jacked the price up now that the sunbeam has sold out.

  • They look good, is everything electronic ?

I hate the toaster ovens with the ratcheting mechanical timers.

    • +1

Opening the oven door is mechanical.

  • Yes, all done with the big knob (which is electronic) and the screen. It seems very good quality. I chose it over the Breville. Haven't used the steam bit yet.

    • steam oven, they use commercial versions in hotels, the "moist heat" also stops moisture loss in your meats so they stay juicier and reduce shrinkage……

      • My meat suffers from shrinkage after swimming.

  • Does this act as a microwave as well as a convection oven?

    • No but very good oven

  • all out of stock :(

bummer , i was considering one as im about to do a kitchen reno
