Never underestimate the power of OzBargain (almost everyone has multiple supplementary cards, one for each hand, foot, pet and door).

Email from Amex yesterday of this offer. OP beat them by at least 24 hours. Thanks OP !

  • +1

Heads up, I spent on co-op online on gift cards and got the Amex email, so could be useful for uni textbooks, with cashrewards as well!

    • Hi Kez36 - just confirming, you could purchase gift cards online and stuff get the credit? (Presumably you could just purchase online items as well?) Or did you have to go in-store to purchase the gift cards? Thanks

      • Yup purchased gift cards online and got the credit and cashrewards tracked too!

  • Darn it. I missed this!

  • anyone knows if WHSmith Express at Adelaide airport has a surcharge on Amex? thinking I could recharge my metrocard there..

    • +1

Hey… just coming from there. No surcharge for Amex. Has full MetroCard recharge and sale. Also I got confirmation emails from AMEX immediately.

      • Pro tip: you can park your card at the nearby IKEA and walk up to the airport. It is just 5-10 min walk.

        • Do to know where to spend the other quota?

  • +4

Reporting from WHS Syd Int airport. Did an opal recharge for 80. Surcharge of 1.2. Hvnt recvd the thank you email as iv alrdy redeemed the offer once at luna park. Has anyone recvd the tk you email for 2nd spend?
Also for folks interested in Visa GC they hv bou 4 or so left. Costing the usual 5.95. Happy hunting!

    • I didn't think they were allowed to surcharge if they were part of an amex offer.

    • Visa GC would be good for contributing to charities so will try to pick up 3 tomorrow. I assume that their locations Gate A and Gate B arrivals, means Airside?

      • +2

hey mate - I bought from the international airport departure hall. Near counter H. This is before security check n immi.

        • Did you end up getting your credit?

        • -1

@illumination: Yes, offcourse on allof our family cards. Wish had saved it on my 2 other cards too, but was too lazy.
What I have learned with these amex offers is, it is always best to save the offers as soon as they are out and then later think about whether it is useful or not instead of deliberating first whether it is useful and then later deciding to save them only to realize that the limit has been reached.

        • +1

@maverick1: Totally agree. When these statement credits started getting popular you could idle for a bit and still get away with not saving them but not anymore :P

          Update for others:

I was at WHSmith at Sydney Airport today. Enquired about splitting payment on multiple cards - cannot be done. Can only split card and cash.

Also note there are two WHSmith at the airport. One is downstairs on the same level as arrivals where people come out, and as maverick1 said in this comment, the other one (which sells gift cards) is on the departures level.

          @illumination:

There's actually four - two downstairs in International Arrivals, one upstairs in International Departures, and one in T2 Domestic Arrivals. Then there's a whole bunch airside, but they don't do Opal recharges apparently.

        • @Ufens: Ah I didn't know that. Thanks for that.

    • I did. I used the first one at WH Smith and the second one at Sony and got e-mails for both.

  • +1

    Update- jus gt the email.

  • I made an outlet purchase and did not get the credit. Amex are now saying outlets are excluded. But I don't recall the offer terms originally excluding outlets.

Has anyone taken a screen shot of the offer terms at the time the deal was posted?

  • Can anyone confirm if Ted's Cameras got removed from the deal?

I cannot see it listed in the T&C's anymore and now I actually need to buy something from them (If the price is right).

EDIT: Just jumped on the online chat and can confirm that; TED'S NOT INCLUDED

Just a heads up, if you are after iTunes Card, get 3x$50 in The Co-Op and pay with 2 cards. Works out to be 33.33% off

    • Do they sell any other cards?

      • I saw Ticketmaster, Facebook, Google Play, Spotify. That is only in the UTS shop, not sure about the others.

  • recharged opal at WHsmith and did not get a surcharge. chee hoooo
