      Is this an Origin thing?

      • +1

nah, it's just too hard to send advanced electronics back in time to QLD, unless they're covered with living tissue. Dutton made it through though (unfortunately).

        • Sadly, it's not far enough.
I don't think Victorians fully appreciate the depth of sentiment in Origin.

        • @bargainhunter: yeah, anything north is inconsequential to us now ;)

        • @gizmomelb: fair enough, Vic's chief rival is south.

        • +1

@bargainhunter: hehe I'm a Tasmanian so don't get the mainland states rivalry between each other.

  • Would the coupon come though immediately if i sign up now>

Or is that a generic coupon that anyone can share?

  • hows this compare to the kogan 'samsung' panel at the same price ?

    https://www.dicksmith.com.au/da/buy/kogan-65-4k-led-tv-serie…

    • Don't know much about the Kogan one but the Soniq one really is lowest end. Extreme differences in brightness in different areas, colours are very poor, whole system is slow and laggy. Not even to mention the black levels

      • Reason I ask is every soniq tv I have purchased has been rubbish, from the plasma with reddish tinge everywhere to the led that seems to freeze on channel 10 fta. Saying that there is a pretty high % chance the kogan one will be equally rubbish, best to save them dollaroos.

        • +1

Sounds like you purchase a lot of the soniq tvs, but keep getting disappointed? just staph.

    • I purchased recently the 55 inch Kogan for $499, really happy with it for the price, no issues, once received out of the box the blacks are a little bright, played with the settings using recommendations from Whirlpool, much better. Again, you're paying peanuts, you're getting a Toyota, not a Mercedes.

Great price. Friend has one and it definitely doesn't look that great (colours, blacks, clarity all inferior to my 5yo plasma, except for resolution).
Great for when you need a giant tv and don't care much about picture quality though.

    • Damn thanks for the heads up was considering this as a console/pc monitor as well as for youtube/twitch.

  • I hate to be the grouchy fanboy, but Android 4.4.4 is trash compared to proper Android TV.

Not to mention that in this day and age shipping anything below Android 5 indicates a lack of a proper graphics accelerator, meaning this will be laggy and never get any newer versions. Android 5 and up require functioning 2D and 3D graphics acceleration.

  • Do most 4k tv's come with b/g/n only WiFi.

Thinking of buying a large 4k tv to start streaming some 4k content.

Built In Wi-Fi which complies with 802.11b/g/n standard, providing powerful high-speed preformance

    • Buy a chromecast ultra !! Even tho the tv is smart it still doesn't netflix youtube etc

      • Can't you side load the apk?

        • It actually plays 1080p YouTube with the Android TV app installed.

        • Also, KODI fork (MyGica 17.1) will install. You need a MicroSD card installed for it to run though.

          apk source

      • Oh I am planning to either set it up with a beast gaming pc or android console so that should be fine I was just wondering in the event of a standalone.

  • Is the start up time really 37 seconds? Only thing really turning me off this

  • Umm qld is included ive been selling them all morning at this price..

    • This must be an online store thing, they thinking that QLD is excluded.

    • Are you sure it isnt the S65UV16A model? Anywhere on the northside of Brisbane that has stock?

      • theres 300 at the warehouse at Richlands.

        • Very interesting then that your website says no stock in qld for U65VX15A. Should I just walkin and ask for it?

Anyone knows which of the 3 models at JB HI-FI is the best? They're all exactly the same price.

Summarising the important bits, all three are using Quad core Cortex -A7 1G processor. But within the JB HI-FI details the following models are listed as per below.

    1. S65UV16A-AU (65" Ultra HD LED LCD Smart TV)
-1 year warranty, No info on Core, response time 6ms, refresh rate 50Hz
      -Height - 884mm, Width - 1457mm, Depth - 278mm, KG - 21.5kg

    2. S65UX16A-AU (65"Ultra HD LED LCD Smart TV 120Hz)
-3 year warranty, Dual Core, response time 6ms, refresh rate 100Hz
      -Height - 910mm, Width - 1465mm, Depth - 290mm, KG - 23.3kg

    3. U65VX15A-AU (65" Ultra HD LED LCD Smart TV 100Hz)
-1 year warranty, Quad Core, response time 5.5ms, , refresh rate 100Hz
      -Height - 894mm, Width - 1458mm, Depth - 314mm, KG - 23.1kg

Thoughts on which model is the best?

    • +1

As per whirlpool its this one U65VX15A.

    • S65UX16A-AU (65"Ultra HD LED LCD Smart TV 120Hz).. refresh rate 100hz so does that mean false advertising or misinformation?

  • No HDR, no deal.

  • So buy this or the next Aldi special or the Kogan Cheapie ?
Will chromecast 2 or ultra work better with this tv.

    • Aldi is only 60“. This is better real estate for the $$$ IMO.

Previous deal suggests 3 year warranty applies to this Soniq.

Easier to take back if/when there's a problem.

      • I was thinking when 65 aldi comes back on sale.

        • Last $800 job from Aldi was hit and miss, depending on which one you got.

Kogan has a limited delivery area for the bigger 📺 so counts lots of people out.

At least this Soniq has 3 year warranty. People were happy enough when it was $1000, so at near $750 should decent value.

Found mention Access to the Service Menu on Whirlpool for another model Soniq. It works for this model too.

I was doing some googling and found how to access the "Design" Menu which gives you much much better picture controls.

To get to the 'advanced' picture settings:

    Click "Source" button on remote.
While in the "Source" menu, type "200912"
This will reveal the hidden Service Menu.
