Tripod Coffee Capsules 50% off and Free Shipping over $50 - Nespresso Compatible. 210 Capsules for $50.30, 23.9c a Capsule

100
LASTCHANCE

I received an email from these guys offering 50% off all orders until the end of July.

I figured the best value was the Family Pack for $47.50.
https://www.tripodcoffee.com.au/collections/recyclable/produ…

This contains the following capsules.
40 x Gold Sombrero capsules
40 x Red Fedora capsules
40 x Black Panama compostable capsules
40 x Grey Gaucho compostable capsules
40 x Blue Beret compostable capsules

If you add on 1 more 10 pack of capsules for $2.80, then you can bump it up over $50 for free postage.

Basically it means that you can get 210 capsules for $50.30
That is 23.9 cents a capsule.

I have ordered from this mob before, and they make perfectly fine Nespresso compatible capsules. I won't pretend that I am anything close to a coffee snob but we do go through 5 to 6 capsules a day in our household so this will be great for getting some cheap capsules.

Update 21 July AM: Coupon restrictions have been updated by store to be for existing customers only. However there seems to be varying levels of success applying the code. See rep comment and replies.

  • I bought a whole bunch coffee about a year ago when these guys were supposed to be closing down.
It was cheap at the time. I've literally just run out of that last order.
I thought these guys were finished.

It wasn't bad coffee considering the price

Also bought a whole bunch when the 'coffee with bite' went on clearance.
OzB search doesn't yeild or remind me how much I paid for the last lot of this Tripod coffee.

      • +1

It was 17c a capsule, but it was also 75% off.
I remember because I bought a few packs then too.

        • The Tripod coffee deal?

        • +1

          @albanyson:
          No it wasn't Tripod Coffee.

          It was Coffee with Bite

        • @John Stone:
Yes, I orders from the CWB deal. Had a few extra packs in the box that was delivered.

Trying to remember how much I paid for the Tripod coffee deal??

  • it seems that coffee kills a memory

    • I've just reminded myself how much coffee I drink, considering how much I've bought……

  • I am typically a stronger drinker in the nespresso range and even caffitaly pod machines. Typically an indriya - 9? arpeggio, if not dharkan is my favourite, and even kazaar makes an appearance.

Wondering how these tripod coffees compare? Are they very light in flavour the majroity of them? I can deal with substitute coffee - e.g. we do that for the caffitaly machine, but just need something with the strength flavour profile of the arpeggio/indriya and above pods.

Except for the Red Fedora they're all 4 or 5 out of 5 strength… not sure how accurate this is as they're indicating their all high strenght? That said i've had nespresso compatibles from woolies, grinders is ok'ish, but the royale ones etc. the 'strong' high rating ones still feel nothing as comparable in strength/full on coffee taste as the arpeggio and above strength nespressos.

    • I'm a Dharkan drinker and ordered a few of the 5/5 instensity from Tripod earlier this week. I'll let you know how they compare when they come in!

      • thanks! I pushed the button after i asked the question anyway… and got a family pack and i think the blue beret and gold one ahah. i figured it might disappear or something and as usually when i delay i miss out. So I put an order through. So I will soon find out too! Let's see what you think too when you get yours?

  • Got me thinking: they have compostable and recycleable pods.

Is the compostable indicating you just throw them in your normal green rubbish bin? In WA we don't have a compost bin or 'green waste' as i think eastern states has? Gardening and general trash/rubbish go into a green bin, and recycling the yellow. So normally nespresso just go int he normal rubbish bin and into the big bin. I assume this then goes to a general dump/landfill?

SO i assume by getting a compostable one, it would be wasted as it wouldn't be let to biodegrade, but would goto landfill given it's mixed up with general rubbish?

    • Sure

    • Hi SaberX,

The compostable pods need to be processed through an industrial composting facility in order to break down in 90 days. In the Eastern states (certainly NSW) this involves throwing your compost and garden waste into your green bin which should then end up in an composting facility. We weren’t aware of this in WA but we’ll do some digging around. The good news is our capsules are also biodegradable so if they do end up in landfill, they will break down far quicker than other pods, just not within 90 days.

      Hope this helps.

      Michelle

      • Hi Michelle, would be great to find out if the compostable works with WA bins? We just chuck our general rubbish into a green bin and it is everything non-recyclable. So I would be keen to know. There isn't a 3rd bin e.g. composting or green waste, as I have sighted on travels to the eastern states. Please come back to let me know if you ever find out in the future? THanks :)

So technically would it be better to have a biodegradable pod in landfill that eventually breaks down (and assume the coffee grinds just degrade away?) or using the recyclable ones?

  • Do they have a "use by" or "best by" date?

    • In general all coffee is best before, i assume from being sealed well alot of coffee maintains their freshness for quite some time. But they definitely have a shelf life, not that you can't still use them after a best before date. I've never noticed a difference in the taste or smell.

    coupon code not working

  • Hi guys!

Michelle from Tripod Coffee here. Unfortunately this offer is only valid to existing customers and the discount code will not work if you have not purchased from us previously.

FYI, the discount code still works if I am checking out as a guest and go straight to Paypal to pay.

      • Weird, doesn't work when logged in with previous order showing in account.
"Customer information does not meet the requirements for the LASTCHANCE discount code"

  • FYI, I'm not an existing customer. I bought some a few hours ago and used LASTCHANCE code and it worked.

    • Hi horizon27,

It seems there was glitch in the backend of our system that has been tightened up now. Your order and discount will absolutely be honoured and we hope you love the coffee.

      Michelle

      • Great to see it honoured! Also very grateful I ordered mine well the night before bed… would love to try them and purchase more, even if it was a glitch :)

I like my Nespresso coffee but hate the fact that the aluminium capsules are doing so much harm to the environment. I previously tried Coffee with a Bite (since taken over by these guys) and it was the best non-Nespresso coffee I've used for my Nespresso machine (still not as good as Nespresso's own capsules so I switched back). I really like what these guys are doing for the environment and will give them another go. I would urge you all to do the same - a local business that tries to combat waste deserves a decent chance!
