WD Elements 2TB $65.40 @ Co-Op [Membership Required]

110

Long-time lurker, first time I've found something to post.
WD Elements 2TB PHD for half price at the Co-op. Membership is required to get this price. Website says limited stock so I assume this is a clearance item. I just ordered one and shipping was free.
Credit to chickenface's comment on the JB Hifi deal which led me to finding this.
Cashrewards available.

  • Don't forget that COOP is part of the AMEX promotion - spend $75 and get $25 back!

    • Thanks, I wasn't sure if that was still going.

  • Great price even if you get the membership also! $90 for one of these is hard to come by usually. Plus with the Amex deal it's really good.

Does the Co-op membership expire? I still have my membership card from 2000 which had my details hand written on it.

    • you should still be a member, but i think u might need to contact them to look up your details…I was in a similar boat, i think i entered my name/DOB on their website somewhere to lookup my member ID etc…

    • Not AFAIK. I joined Coop for textbooks around 2005 I think and it has lain unused for years until this year, when my sister wanted some books.

    • It doesn't, mine's still valid from 1997. You can contact them and they'll send through an updated card

Don't panic junior; mine's still working since 1979.

coop dont even send the products they sell to you…. its all a scam, they probably dont even have any in stock like everything else they offer on sale

    • I had no issues with a recent purchase from Co-Op, a heap of Pop! Vinyls when they had a special on, only 2 were out of stock from memory which they quickly refunded, and the rest were sent within a few days.

It's not the first complaint where they have been doing bait like this to draft up more memberships.. quick search of co-op reveals lots of complaints in the past with either limited stock, incorrect pricing and no delivery.

  • I purchased this in store yesterday.
Not all stock instore will reflect the sale price online but will still scan at the same price, according to the assistant yesterday.
I purchased this from the Nathan QLD store, just went through at $65.40 (membership required)

Granted by physically purchasing you miss out on the Cashrewards 6.4% cashback but you KNOW you're getting the item.
Also remember that not all items are in all stores, in fact the likelihood of you going into any store and finding a particular sale item randomly are pretty low, especially for less common items like tablets, watches, backpacks, etc. Hard drives and USB flash drives are probably a safer bet though.

Obviously this comment is really only useful to people who are situated near a store.

Also, should we be ticking the 'I am associated with the Co-op Online Bookstore' tickbox since membership makes us part owner? heh :)

Just got an email saying due to damaged stock my order was refunded. Anyone got the same BS email?!

    • I hope you enjoy your paid membership to a store that uses this as a tool to bring in new members lol

search any deal by the co-op on this website you'll see it happens so frequently it's not even funny anymore

    • Same :(

I’m writing in regards to your Co-op order #13206456. Unfortunately, due to damaged stock we are unable to fulfil your order for WD Elements Portable 2TB Black and have processed a refund to the amount of $-65.40

    • I just got the cancellation email. 😬 They didn't even bother pretending it was damaged stock, just said they were out.
Edit: and they'll keep my money for another 7 days before refunding.

      • enjoy your 30 dollar premium membership, hope it was worth it lol

ask them to refund that… they wont

        • I was already a member from years ago, so no issue there. But I'm still annoyed.

I'm still waiting for a shipping confirmation. I bet they are going to drop this BS on me too. Worst company to deal with

  • Update from Co-op Saga:
Paid for hard drive 8:15 on July 21st
Never received shipping confirmation from UNDA Fremantle store
Tried calling them last week for update on order - their UNDA Fremantle store number is incorrect and hangs up immediately
Tried calling their customer hotline service - lady on the phone said she would follow up on the order and incorrect phone numbers and never did
Contacted them via Facebook on Friday asking what was going on with the order
Received Facebook response on Monday asking for order details which were then provided immediately
No further response and assistance provided till today saying they were 'out of stock' and said delays were due to "rush" period.

    Never buy from this store again. This isn't legal under Australian Consumer Law to take funds with no intent of fulfilling the order;
