  • can you use Samsung pay with this?

    • +4

Once you flash Australian firmware… Yep

      • I didn't know you can flash a different model number firmware? I thought you can only flash those firmware with the same model number.

Eg, 955F and 955FD would be incompatible. But wow it works (according to the forum).

        THanks

        • yeah first time to hear can flash different model number for samsungs. but hey hopefully without any glitches

        • +1

Just needs to have the same SoC and I can confirm that I have done this and it works, also keep the functionality of the dual sim and allows for all secuirty an software updates from OTA

      • I bought the 950fd from qd and had no issues with using Android pay out of the box.

        • This is about Samsung pay

        • @Dezeption:

          I see. Carry on.

        • +1

          @Dezeption:

What's the functional difference between Android Pay and Samsung Pay?

        • +1

@orly: Certain banks support certain payment methods.

        • @orly: Certain bank support certain types. However, the biggest difference of Samsung pay is magnetic secure transmission (MST):

"One advantage to Samsung Pay is it works with most card readers. It uses both NFC technology and magnetic secure transmission (MST) technology. MST technology emits a magnetic signal that acts like magnetic strip that you find on most credit cards. This allows you to use this electronic wallet at more terminals than similar applications."

        • @b4rgainhunter: Irrelevant in Australia since all terminals have NFC.

    • +5

you can once flash Australian(XSA) firmware.

mine one bought last months from qd originally came with TAIWAN firmware only support Taiwanese banks

read this for more info :http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2625679

      • I followed the same guide for my s8+ and it worked perfectly. Originally had hk firmware on mine.

  • last time 15% was 760 from the same seller..

    • +1

I thought it was $795 or so. Can't really find it at $760.

      • just checked, it was 899*0.85=765 , plus 11.69 cashback from CR

        • +1

Original price wasn't $899 back then iirc.

        • @MadMaxBargainRoad:

it was cause i bought it 囧

        • +1

@jzjzjjz87: Are you sure it wasn't a different seller? QD never sold the phone for $899 http://offer.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidsLogin&item…

        • +2

@tonyhsu: Yeah, exactly what I thought. If there was indeed a $765 tag someone would have posted it.

      • Difference phone man…

  • Dang. its dual sim. thanks OP could you edit the tile.

    • Dang
As in good or bad :p? Anyway, updated.

      You mean Yay?

Anyone know if we get a tax invoice for tax refund?

    • No

    • facepalm

  • That's a great price. Loving the phone

  • +1

    What's everyones views on qd_au?

    • +1

They got my G4 fixed even when it was out of warranty. Definitely one of the better grey sellers.

    • I got my s8 for the previous deal.. got it after 3 days and sent via DHL
looks brand new to me… so not issue
yes, it has TW firmware so need to change to AU but I didnt which means I can't use Samsung Pay

Overall… very happy. Especially, I pay 663 from the previous deal

      • So you paid 660 aud for the phone?

    • As stated recomended seller bought s8+ for $850 with ebay voucher back in june received in 3 days dhl delivered to sydney highly recommended :)

    • They are quick. I received my Huawei mate 9 pro in about 3 days from Taiwan

    • They'e a bit slow on response though.
And they haven't shipped out the one ordered here yet

  • Does this work with all the Australian carriers, etc? Like the information i find is contradictory, how is this phone different to the Australian one.

    • Dual SIM and different firmware. You can't get dual sim here.

Network bands are compatible to Australia though.

  • dual sim, can I use 4g for data sim and 3g for phone call?

  • -1

compare to the receent Bundle in JB Hifi…
$999 with a wireless fast charger… claim GST when you fly out and sell the charger for $50 to someone or me :)

Then the phone is about 850 and with AU firmware and warranty… not too bad

    • +8

I'm. Pretty sure that was for the 950f which is just the S8 this deal is for the S8+ so 955f

    • Jb Hifi one will not be dual sim.

  • FYI for people looking for the other colours it looks like it's a repeat of a previous deal with black being $20 more and the gold and grey for the same price.

  • Been waiting for this for ages.. Thanks OP!

    • has yours been shipped out? Seems to have taken awhile

  • Isn't it cheaper here http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Samsung-Galaxy-S8-Plus-Dual-S…
    I believe same model.

    • Qd provides some of the best warranty as grey importers go

  • I bought the last deal on s8 from qd.
they open the boxes and reseal them again using the same words that Samsung does minus the Samsung logo and on top of Samsung s broken seal.

    • Was the new label white?

      • yup

  • Sorry I'm new to this, but can I know what is CR? Thanks

    • +1

      Cash rewards

      • Thank you! Found it and it worked.

  • With all the SIM card deals around (amaysim, yomojo etc), it is absolutely imperative to have a dual SIM phone. One with your main number and the other for data top ups :)

    • Not necessarily, can always just port the main number around.

      • What about the wait times?

        • +1

          Half an hour

  • Been 3 days still no replies to my questions and not shipped out.

    Anyone's status shipped out?

  • Amazing seller, ordered on Friday afternoon around 3:00 pm, just had the phone delivered are 1:30 pm on Monday, phone was packed with a power adaptor on the outside, box was factory sealed, flashed the Australian firmware, Westpac tap and pay did not work but android pay did, so all good.
    very happy!

    • +1

Yeah agreed, i pulled the trigger late at night on Friday. Got it 20 minutes ago.
Very happy with the sale, couldn't recommend more. Will definitely buy from them again.

      • Mine seems to have some problems, and I will have to return/refund it. Was your S8+ sealed (in plastic) from the manufacturer? Also was your 'do not accept if seal is broken' white or black? Thanks.

        • No mine had the "do not accept if seal is broken"
I'm assuming they open it to change the language over from Chinese to English. The accessories and phone looked brand new. Maybe just email them to ask for it to be removed or even provide the Gmail account details. It a shame this didn't go smoothly for you.

        • @huey: I contacted them and they seem to have no idea about the Gmail account thing. It seems unnecessary to change the language as you would be able to select a language immediately after you switch on the phone. I will see what I can do. Cheers.

        • @teemorule:
I do know that all Chinese phone don't come with google services preinstalled, maybe they open it to load it on? Keep us informed on how you go pls. I was about to buy another one but now a little hesitant.

        • @huey: The one I received is a Taiwanese version and should have Google services preinstalled already. I am not sure if I will ask for an exchange or refund. Will keep you informed.

    • Hi, was your S8+ sealed (in plastic) from the manufacturer? Also was your 'do not accept if seal is broken' white or black? Many thanks.

      • My seal was White, no plastic, exactly packaged like my friends Australian stock, I am 100% sure it was never opened.

  • I just received my S8+ but I couldn't log in. It says 'the device was set. To continue, sign in with a Google Account that was previously synced on this device'. It should be a brand new device. Why has this happened?

    • Oh that doesn't sound right. If that's the case you phone is now locked and useless until that previous account is used to sign in. Hard to believe this came from. QDau

      • No. A bit disappointed as I needed a new phone. The phone I received was not plastically sealed…

        • They reseal then with a white one

        • @Dezeption: Why would they do that?

        • @teemorule: A combination of Samsung Taiwan breaking the seal to stop it from being resold in there region to protect there profits and to do a language change. But that shouldn't cause your problem.

        • @Dezeption: Thanks. Good to know to that.
