  • I think esata and free postage makes this a better deal than the others. But the Skymaster enclosure looks really boring.

    • Haha I agree.. this is a really ugly enclosure but it's an awesome price.

In the end for me, I think the features are more important than the appearance. I shall get one.

      edit: Just got it =)

      • I wouldn't say it was ugly, I like the look of it not flash and not ugly. Looks easy enough to put stickers on it anyway. :P

  • I think $74.95 for an esata 2.5" portable hdd is good value :)

  • What's the diff between this deal, the mln one and the centrecom one? All offer 500gb, with similar price. But I don't know which one offers better value.. Anyone can help?

Well, depending on where you live, this may well be the cheapest deal.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but in order to use the esata feature of this enclosure, you need an esata port to connect it to. My laptop doesn't have such a port, so I can only use the usb connection on the enclosure.

As for warranty, I believe the other two have 3 year warranties? (please check this) The ebay page says that this drive has 1 year warranty. This may be the warranty apus provides. If you want to know Samsung's warranty for the Spinpoint M6, you'll have to check their website.

I've compared the other two drives in the MLN thread; I guess this deal is good in that you have a definitely reusable enclosure. The drive inside can definitely be removed and used elsewhere if desired, and any other 9.5mm drive can be used inside the enclosure. Opening up the enclosure of the other two drives will likely void warranty.

Centrecom have a 500Gb Seagate GoFlex (usb2, usb3, firewire or esata - sold with usb2) for $66 and cheap shipping.

    • If you add shipping to the centrecom deal, it comes out more expensive than this one. Add to that the cost of the esata cable, and it's much more expensive.
