Around 25% faster provided it's not VRAM bottlenecked, even more if you're using a slower CPU.

You could definitely go either way, but honestly even at FHD with new-ish games, 8gb is a big risk.

Id take a 25% performance hit to avoid having my 1% lows near zero.

      • -5

Unlikely to use more than 8gb unless you want to really future proof and run high end games which you should be looking at a higher card anyway. https://techteamgb.co.uk/2025/07/28/you-dont-need-16gb-of-vr…

        • +5

8GB really limiting, eg my 3070 has more than enough performance but is held back in a lot of modern games due to ram. Pretty much any of the more rt based stuff (EG Indiana Jones) is ram limited. I would take a 25% hit to be able to play games that are released for more time.

          "Really want to future proof"

There's no "really want to" there's only "if you want it to be usable in 5 years".

The only old GPUs that are any decent with modern games are ones with lots of vram or super fast vram. Computation isn't really as important as it once was. All about memory throughput

I shouldn't mention them as it may jack up the price, but, vega 56/64 are still killer cards because of their HBM. And 1080's are slowly getting useless but 1080ti's are still super usable due to the larger memory (and also larger bus width)

        8gb is a big risk.

The risk is that 8GB will limit performance (at high res or with max settings/RTX etc in some games)

        So…

Does it really make sense to just go straight to 25% worse performance on average, to avoid a risk of occasional performance dips in some games of your much better performance…?

I'll let you think for a bit before you answer…

        • +1

Occasional performance dips are far more disruptive to enjoyment than consistent but somewhat worse performance imo.

      • Id take a 25% performance hit to avoid having my 1% lows near zero.

Depends on game, I'd still expect the 9060 to have better 1% lows overall and there are some games that just run like ass on Intel GPUs.

That's the fourth all time low for a graphics card I've seen this week - B580 $399, 9060 xt 8gb $399, RX 7700 XT $499 and RX 7900 XTX $836. Fantastic to see. Nvidia need to follow suit.

      • It'll happen eventually with the 5060. The 4060 was on sale for $399 quite a few times.

    • So AMD are now naming their cards "-060" and "-070" - how original.

  • +13

Starting to be an ok price. But a bit late for an ok price.

    • -1

$299 would be an "ok" price, considering this card is equivalent to last gen Nvidia and AMD cards.

      • Pure raster, yeah. It has a few extra features that allows it for long term use, like AV1 and 12gb ram, and decent RT.

It also has SR-IOV disabled at the firmware level, but are hardware supported. So when we get custom firmware, it'll become a budget b60.

$400 is still a bit expensive, I agree, but it has good points. More useful in cluster environment though.

Edit: well, in light of news from yesterday, maybe I wouldn't trust Intel arc anymore.

      • people here really do love writing nonsense with the confidence of chatgpt

  • +13

with nvidia buying $5 bn worth of intel stock and making apus with intel cpu and nvidia gpus i feel like intel isnt serious about arc

    • +5

Hope not, especially after the all the effort Intel has put into improving drivers, and still expecting the B770 to materialize. But it follows US Govt taking a 10% stake in Intel. FGS, don't want GPUs to become political.

According to yesterdays moore's law is dead youtube video, intel arc is effectively over : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9BdITGw9pY

    • yep 100% a concern for future support and development of ARC products, the biggest issue i see is that the ARC team didn't know about this, which means they kept it secret not to lose their ARC engineers until they were "ready" to lose them, so will be interesting to see what happens with that team…

very very dissapointing news even though their products weren't there yet, getting them to this level this quick and also bringing out very competetive iGPU's that are in Lunar lake APU's to me was very positive signs… but i guess there just isn't the money to continue this with intel floundering

    • @tonyjzx Intel have announced no chance to their Arc roadmaps etc 👍
      https://www.pcworld.com/article/2913872/intel-nvidia-deal-do…

  • aren't Intel doing the Battlefield 6 bundle anymore? Can't see it on Centrcom's site….

    • +2

Nah it expired a couple of days ago sadly

      • I wonder if someone else will run it again

        • +1

If AMD do, It'll tip me over the edge to get a 9070 XT

  • Wow, I remember the time when an Intel CPU and AMD GPU was the norm…. how times have changed !
I'm now running an AMD Ryzen 7 7700, and this comes up for sale …

    • Yeah I remember AMD had CPUs way back (late nineties?) but they were always Mickey Mouse-level compared to Intel.

My first CPU was an IBM Cyrix.
