Still expensive - not the best sale I've seen

    • +1

I’d want thick leather bags for that much money. These bags look just like any other standard bags to me.

    • +1

Yeah 40% off Samsonite is really their standard price.
Myer almost always has 40% off Samsonite. I would take that as the base price.

Free shipping worth a mention: "Standard delivery is free within Australia and takes between 3 - 5 working days"

  • +12

Every time I see a sale for luggage I cringe because 40-70% seems to be standard pricing for most luggage brands. Sadly their "sales" appear to be marketing spin only.

    • +5

      They've learned from Kathmandu

  • The Curv suitcases have been much cheaper but the accessories have pretty good price.

I can't really see this being a bargain. Looking at the S'Cure 81cm Spinner which is what I would have been interested in https://www.samsonite.com.au/s-cure-81cm-spinner/64512.html?…

Once you take 40% off, it comes down to the same price as multiple other online sellers advertised price which also provide free shipping.

Just check with the LITE-BIZ 55cm Spinner https://www.samsonite.com.au/lite-biz-55cm-spinner/62137.htm… - exact same result, price comes down to the same as everyone else.

Extra 5% off at Bagworld using the code OZ should help

  • I would recommend checking out Myer and DJs as well. They regularly have 40% off but if they don't, they will definitely price match

  • +17

So basically the same price as everywhere else.

    • +2

      Worse than elsewhere

Myer had this most of the time and can club with discounted gift card, which is much better

Surprised it hit the front page and close to 1000 clicks

      • +1

The number of click will find out this post is a cam and next thing to do is to only give -ve vote for this post

      • Where do u get Myer discounted gift cards?

        • +1

Amex offers or AGL rewards etc

  • +9

    It's like a code for RRP :)

  • are the travel adapters worth it?

  • Good price on the their luggage covers with this code cheapest around @ $35.97 delivered for the large.

    • I like my 72 hours luggage. They're great :)

    • +5

Their warranty is worthless as any fault is deemed to be "damage" or wear and tear, but they are good quality. Their newer ultra light products I have concerns about….. I think the mid range stuff is actually better built.

      • +1

yeah the ultra light one that I got recently doesn't instill any confidence in me

      • I've had them previously and had them fixed no problem (was a zipper issue).

My 72 hours is ultra light. Traveled quite a bit to the US, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Brisbane (almost went with me on a trip to Paradburdoo but that was cancelled- would have been interesting). Still looks brand new. Maybe I've just been lucky.

        • Yes the zip is the problem, their highest-end products have the flimsiest zips, presumably to save weight.

My next one will be a S'Cure which is actually one of the cheapest models.

      • +1

I've claimed warranty for Firelite wheel & handle repairs - which Samsonite has kindly waived off fees for, despite them being actual wear and tear "damages" though.

  • +5

not really sure why this is a bargain as most of the items are available cheaper than the discounted price elsewhere.

    • +3

28 people don't know what a bargain is lol

      • +4

Many people see 40% off anything and will simply upvote based on the headline.

  • +4

    I prefer Antler.

    • Yep! Antler all the way.

  • +2

So can someone actually tell me which product is a bargain?

  • +1

    Any bargains???

  • +1

Sorry, but nobody ever buys Samsonite at RRP.
You can always get 50% off buying these.
I bought at Samsonite suit-case at about 60% off in China recently, and it's of comparable quality to suitcases of the same price I paid.

    • +1

      Was that a fake Samsonite?

      • +6

Nope. Not everything in China is fake.

        • +1

Sometimes copycat product could be better than authentic products which surprised me in China in terms of smarter design and quality.

        • +1

          @lhong23:

Rarely. But I am more worried about materials used and how they are treated chemically. A lot of stuff from China just does not smell right.
For example, for work we tested a water bottle bought and made in China which was well designed, was robust etc. However, the material used exceeded all limits in terms of chemicals present - that bottle would have been immediately pulled off the markets in Western countries due to carcinogens present and because it was simply very poisonous and toxic.
We had similar results with clothing etc. (in case you are wondering, lab tests done for legal proceedings).

So, I would be quite careful about those things but of course everyone should and can decide this for themselves.

        • Sure it wasn't Samsungnite? ;)

        • +1

Negged. What next, crumpets at Woolies 50% off?

    • +9
      • Now that's a real bargain! Perhaps make a new deal post for it?

      • Golden!

  • +1

i picked 3 items i want to buy from samsonite and compare to bagworld(where i usually bought from), after apply the discount code at samsonite, bagworld still $2.06 cheaper!! ps 5% discount code they currently offering at bagworld.

  • +2

Much cheaper elswhere as posted above

  • I bought a lite cube 82cm for $460 at Luggage Direct during EOFY - it's $599 with the discount code here - that's a massive 14% discount difference

  • Not bad prices but the same as I paid at myer.

  • +3

There's three things in life I will never pay RRP for:
    Luggages
    Mattresses
    QC35

    • +1

      What about crumpets?

    • +2

I hope you don't pay full price for a rug.

    • Username checks out

    • +2

You're a part of a bargain website, I hope you don't pay RRP for anything lol.

  • +2

I never pay RRP for anything

  • absolutely bonkers pricing. no deal here

  • Well I grabbed the laptop bag for $53 I usually use the kmart ones that break all the time for not much less so fingers crossed this lasts a bit longer ;p

  • +1

Can anyone recommend a good medium size suitcase (I've got a large and a small) I'm after something fairly light though so I can get max use from it? Doesnt have to be Samsonite. Cheers

  • Just purchased the Samsonite Red Claken bag from eBay.

Bagworld (i think?) has already applied a 40% discount to their samsonite products.

Using discount code on samsonite website claken bag was $137.40 free delivery.

Same bag on bagworld ebay was $137 making it 40c cheaper, + C5OZ coupon, bag came down to $130 (roughly) including free delivery.

  • Good deal OP!

I just brought a Samsonite laptop backpack last week (SAMSONITE TECTONIC 2). Really happy with it. It is $99 in the shops and $60 with this 40% sale.
Luckily I paid the same price via Bagsworld on ebay. Very impressed, worth comparing with their prices. They also emailed me a tax invoice as well to claim on tax as used for work :)

  • Not a good deal still.
You can buy same products from other online shops for much lower price even after the 40% discount.

  • Decent sale for items that don't go on those crazy sales in Myer, such as neck pillows.

Overall, nothing I'd buy because I can get the unbranded neck pillows much cheaper elsewhere :P

  • Via http://www.abc.net.au/tv/thecheckout/episodes/s02ep05.htm

"ADVENTURES IN FINE PRINT: SAMSONITE: Luggage for carrying things on planes, but without a warranty that covers carrying things on planes."

Here's the segment on YouTube: https://youtu.be/OC7ZQKRTn7I

  • I bought my 4Mation backpack from BagWorld for $80 recently. Same backpack is sold for $140 here which is still more expensive than what I bought mine for.

  • bought a bunch the other week when 40% off myer + 20% off myerEbay + 1.3 cashrewards.
