    • OW exclusions.

"Competitor clearance products and stock liquidations"?

Must be "in stock at our competitor" but MSY is now OOS.

      • +2

MSY is an Online Only Service/Store? They still have stores.

For instance : www.msy.com.au/wa/cannington will get you stock in the Cannington store.

        • +3

          OOS - out of stock

    • Can you pricematch when ordering online? It seems like Officeworks only have it online?

    • officeworks wont pricematch a clearance item

    • most of the shops here dont price match msy anyways.
they either come up with grey market seller or infamous for breaking ACL from back few years back.

      • They price matched MSY 2 years ago so that I got PAID by Microsoft to have a keyboard….

        • Lol wot?

        • +3

@bobzor bargain: MSY had a Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse combo for like $20 or something, with $20 cash back from Microsoft. Office works pricebeat them by 5 or 10%, and so after the rebate, Microsoft had paid me to have their keyboard and mouse combo.

        • @sqeeksqeek: classic!

Tempted to Broden this, 1200% profit.

    And great first deal, OP.

    Cheapest WiFi extender

Cheapest way to do wifi music too via Airplay etc

  • +1

It does 2.4ghz, 300mbps (theoretical) maximum speed. I can't find any info on chipset but reviews mentioned it has some issues with latency (about a 4 second lag between input and output) which you will easily get used to.

    It does DLNA and Airplay.
Some reviews on Amazon mentioned audio and video going out of sync if you use it to watch videos on Youtube, but that's from 2014 and the firmware update may have patched this.

  • Any better than the Xiaomi one I just got?

    • +2

I don't think so. In fact the Xiaomi is probably better since it's dedicated as a wifi repeater, this D-Link has a bunch of other stuff in it that makes it DLNA / Airplay capable.

I did a Ookla test with Xiaomi — it looks like it performs at

27.30 Mbps down and 12.23 Mbps Up.

direct Wifi connection with my router gives me

48.35 Mbps down and 19.29 Mbps up

this is on my NBN connection which maxes at 50mbps down and 20 mbps up. So the Xiaomi actually performs pretty well.

FYI: Wifi repeaters basically halve your wifi speeds, because they have to receive and then transmit.

  • What is shipping cost?
Can you buy without making an account?

  • +1

    From MSY description:

These is CLEARANCE Product, limited quantity(normally less than 5), which is available on a first-come, first-serve basis while stock last. The product(s) will vary in condition and might be an Ex-Demo or damaged packaging.

    • +1

Just picked mine up and carton looks perfect and has factory seal.

  • +2

Is this just a normal range extender? The 'audio'part has me confused.

    • Quick google search shows it extends wifi too.

  • Sold out already? Website says out of stock :(

  • +2

Basically the same thing as an old school Airport Express

    • +1

Whaat…? Don't tell me Apple could make them for less than $5 and the remaining $164 was PURE PROFIT!? Scandal!

      • You pay for the "Designed in California" part, you don't pay for the "200 children committed suicide jumping from the roof of the factory to bring you this overpriced cheap crap"

    • +1

I still have my airport express. The most handy thing I ever bought!

  • +3

dammit yall brodening the msy store while im trying to get officeworks to price match lol

  • Still in stock in Melb (Brooklyn) - Just ordered 2.

  • +2

If you guys missed out, you can grab the Xiaomi Wifi Repeater gen2 for $10.20.

(Its Not quite the same product, but it will do a decent job as a wifi repeater.)

    • nice link 404

    • Reported. Link is no work now

  • just ordered from morningside Brisbane store

  • I got an order in to a Melbourne store but it's yet to be confirmed. I do wonder if they've gone done a price error and now they're scrambling to pull stock.

  • Is there another cheap/simple way to add air play to a stereo?

  • Great deal OP!
    I'm gonna get a couple.

This should not be marked expired - all of QLD still has stock as well as various other stores

    • -6

class QLD, thinks its the only state in the whole country

  • Weird, it's back in stock now, was out of stock 20 minutes ago.

  • +6

Just phoned Officeworks. As other people have already commented, they denied the price match as it's a clearance product. Lady on the phone was not rude at all about all of this so kudos to their customer service I guess :)

    • They just know they have a manager that will back them up when a customer gets cranky.

  • Just got an email from MSY:

    Dear customer,

Sorry, the extender is sold out now.

    HUBDLDCHM225
    D-Link DCH-M225 Wi-Fi Audio Extender
    $5.00

    Best Regards

May I know which store sent you this email ? They have heaps of stock in the warehouse and should be able to do the stock transfer for you.

      • the ultimo store sent me the email - PM me if you have any luck (pls)?

      • +1

should be well known after all this time that the Ultimo store has the rudest laziest employees in the history of MSY stores anywhere….

if almost all customers know that fact I'm sure it's not the first time employees have heard the wizzbanger

        • +1

Going back a bit here. Maybe about 10yrs ago at MSY Auburn when they had the tiny shop, and people used queue 20-30 deep on Saturday mornings.

The shortish guy with glasses, gave you you the death stare, actually most of them were rude then. But people didn't care as the prices were really good then. And still good prices, no margin for customer service here.

Been to Ultimo, they seem okay to me. Like most MSY shops, just need to know what you want, pay and get out.

Want to touch feel and customer service, go elsewhere and then go back to msy to buy it.

        • @fredk1000: at mt Pritchard Nsw when they opened two years ago the guy had a printed a4 sign that said: 'I don't care that you used to go to the store at Auburn for many years'. Went once, managed to get something similar to what I wanted and ended up returning it anyway. Rude af

Delivery is double the cost of the product - No Thanks

  • zero need but got one anyway

  • Just picked up mine. Max 2 per person apparently so broden need not apply. Thanks OP, enjoy your First Post Wonder badge.

  • +1

a noob question. What does this thing for? I don't understand the "Audio" part.

    • -1

You plug it in and it prevents the government wirelessly spying on you.

I switch mine on when I visit porn sites.

    • +1

check it out here…. video + info

      https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/d-link-wif…

      http://files.dlink.com.au/products/DCH-M225/Manuals/DCH-M225_A1_Manual_v1.10(WW).pdf

Seems like something I may (be) use. For $5 it's a no brainer (ozb mentality).

      • +1

        Sounds awesome for a prank.

Hook up speakers wirelessly and hide speakers under bed.

Wait until victim goes to sleep and start playing ghost/demon noises lol

        • What's wrong with you??!?!?

  • Cheers OP, have 2 confirmed for pick up at North Plympton, SA branch.

  • Placed an order for 1, received confirmation for pickup. Anyone know how long they'll hold it for i.e. will it be ok if I pickup in a few days?

    • did you read the email? it says 2 days. call up and negotiate.

  • Ordered at 218pm and just picked up at nth melb

  • +1

I have one, the Airplay is rubbish and keeps cutting out even just 10m from the router. If you want it for audio you're better off buying a second hand airport express. Or set up rpi with shairport, much more reliable.

  • Out of stock for me…

Edit: Sorry, my bad, location was restored to default.

  • Sold out :(
    ADL CBD

  • Picked one up this arvo. Works perfectly as an extender. Stable, great range with no dropouts.

    Thanks OP

  • OOS at Hurstville store for those playing at home

  • +1

In stock at Port Adelaide; just now ordered two for in-store pick-up.

I have two powerful stereo HiFi systems- a Technics and an Aiwa from yesteryears, both with aux inputs.
This Audio Extender would be perfect to put them back to active service.

Can't wait for an MSY staff member to contact/mail me when order is ready for pickup; hopefully later today.

Again, smashing first post bargain deal from munchkin.
    Thanks!!

  • Has anyone else who has pot an order in failed to receive confirmation? I put mine in for Mitcham in VIC around 2pm yesterday and it still hasn't been confirmed. Is this usual MSY practice?

    • Yep same here, but Dandenong store…hmmmm

      • +1

        Oh…
Just emailed them and got this:

I’m sorry but this item is currently sold out.

Pretty crappy on a confirmed order but not surprised either unfortunately…

        • Yeah I'll email them. I expect I'll get the same result. Pretty awful service considering I pounced really quickly and so many other people managed to score one.

  • Ordered last night from Mt Pritchard store in Syd, have an email this morning advising it is sold out.

Was looking forward to picking it up. I always feel tuff standing in the MSY queue.

  • Got a mail now saying the product was OOS

  • However, spotted a 128 GB micro SD card there (Samsung EVO) for an unbelievably low $56.
I'd not found such low price ever, not even in online shopping sites.

Also considering the Belkin 65W Universal Laptop charger ($29)
    Seems a good bargain too.

Don't know if they will disappoint me again once at the store!

  • Picked it up today - initial thoughts I spent $5 too much

    1. QR scanner did not direct to app
    2. Found it manually on Play and downloaded
    3. No chance of getting it to work or detect anything
    4. Tried to use the PC browser but the http://.. address didn't work nor the IP address
    5. As a last resort I tried the IP address from my mobile phone browser and it finally worked.
    6. If anyone has a similar issue, use 192.168.0.50 and trying your luck with a few browsers.
  • got 2 from north Melbourne.

    • lol those guys are personality plus. I get one doesn't go to MSY for the great service.

  • got mine today, they seem to work okay. There is about a 1 second lag, but that is fine. Setup was pretty easy (iOS).
    I did a firmware update ftp://files.dlink.com.au/products/DCH-M225/REV_A/Firmware

Pretty happy so far with my $10.
