Ok price for the S2 which still has decent specs for being nearly 2 years old - Snapdragon 652, 3gb ram, 1536 x 2048 display, micro sd.

Also this model (T813N) should be upgradable to Android 7.0 as per gsmarena specs page.

  • this one is the 2016 model with the upgraded snapdragon SoC. you might see some even cheaper 'deals' floating around that are actually not deals! those are the older 2015 stock that holds an older SoC and runs quite a bit slower.

Am I the only one who is struggling to see value in tablets given their popularity peaked in 2014?

Why are we still paying almost $500 for a tablet that doesn't have a data SIM port in 2017? If I was a tablet manufacturer facing declining demand I would certainly be offering this feature across all models instead of pretending its a "premium model only" specification…

Maybe people aren't buying cellular tablets.

      Some people want cheaper
Not everyone can afford higher priced tablets with data slot

Tablets rule. Much rather surf the web on a tablet than laptop. And I just tether to my phone for internet.

    • less popular -> less economies of scale?
Better displays and batteries cost more?
      Phablets further undermine them

  • These aren't that good for anything other than watching video or streaming music
If you want to get one then go for the OPTUS deal with unmetered Netflix streaming data and some unmetered radio station streaming not sure if Spotify is still free but a shame they will remove/ have removed it

  • Anyone know if the s2 will play 10bit hevc?

Mxplayer does it really well, kodi doesnt like it, vlc has a lot of slowdown. HW acceleration not supported
