Seriously though, I almost gutted myself with a circular saw once and since then have vowed never to use one again.
That's just me…. But be careful. It can go bad very quickly.
    Good deal though!

This video is old but I found it pretty neat when I bought my (cordless) circular saw.

Just a bit of care and I feel pretty safe about it even if I need more practice to make better cuts. I'm only working with short and thin wood anyway … that's what she said

If you read the safety instructions, use the tool as intended and take your time you will never have a problem. There's even less excuses now as there are so many free demonstrations on YouTube on how to safely use them.

There's no need to be scared of them but I understand if your don't want to use one again.

I use them quite frequently and still have all my fingers and toes but I did share a room in a hospital once with a guy who had cut straight through 3 of his fingers, he seemed to be in quite a bit of pain.

Remember folks, when you go electric, you run the risk of not being able to torture your victim, as seen in Hostel 2
    Choose cordless!

    • Cordless what? Gas powered?

      • Solar

        • That's still electric…

  • Is this the same as this [https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/238606]?

i tried to google with the K at the back of the model DWE650K and couldnt find much reference.

    • The one i received is definitely the k model comes with 3 discs too: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170717/879ea9f7b1162f829a…

the one in the link isnt the k model not sure what the difference is?

      • +3

        Maybe K stands for Killer?

        • -1

I think I read somewhere that Bunnings get's them to add letters and maybe make a slight difference so that they can avoid price matching. So it's probably the same model.

the one in the link isnt the k model not sure what the difference is?

K means the product comes in a kit form with a box and often spare consumables and sometimes an option like a handle or depth gauge etc.

B means the product started life as a bare tool so no battery, charger or additional accessories.

Most DeWalt cordless gear on eBay is taken out of large lots of tools imported from the USA, often the warranty is with the seller who offers 6-12 months.

Individual tools generally don't have these identifiers on them except for the B(are) tools (IIRC).

  • Damn it, no 235mm saws on special:(

  • According to their website, the 3 year warranty requires:
1.3 Proof of purchase (a copy of the tax receipt detailing the date of the purchase, the productpurchased & the place of purchase) from an authorized DEWALT reseller is required for all warranty claims.

      That or ACL

      • That or ACL

What does the ACL have to do with this? Take the took into a DeWalt service centre, show proof of purchase and wait for the call to say it's fixed.

        • +1

Your choice to make it the retailers problem to fix it, or the manufacturer.

        • @Steptoe:

Your choice to make it the retailers problem to fix it, or the manufacturer.

This is not enforced by anyone so this choice might require you to take them to court. It's all very well to quote the ACL but in reality it's worthless.

The retailer is an online company, what is easier to do of the following?
          A) Return to the online retailer, pack up, pay postage, post insurance and signature on delivery and wait for the retailer to have it fixed at a local authorised service centre before posting it back to you likely requiring a trip to the post office to collect 4-6 weeks later.
          B) Take to anyone of the many service centres located in most parts of the country and pick it up a few days later. You can also post it to service centres.

  • I could be in for this, but I remembered that in a previous post someone mentioned that many of the cheaper ones are a smaller than regular size, and the blades cost more and wear faster, and it's just worth buying the bigger one. Anyone know if this is the case?

What are you going to cut with he saw? Bigger saws are heavier, more powerful, bigger blade and harder to use.

Even smaller saws can cut larger stock by rolling it over and cutting from the other side.

Cost has nothing to do with size, the big manufacturers all have a full range of saws going from small to large.

      • "Rolling it over and cutting from the other side" is almost impossible to accomplish if you don't want a jagged edge. Also, great to own one, but I've used mine only a few times in ten years.

        • "Rolling it over and cutting from the other side" is almost impossible to accomplish if you don't want a jagged edge.

Ever heard of using a square? Your lack of coordination and control doesn't mean it's not easy to accomplish.

Also, great to own one, but I've used mine only a few times in ten years.

Do you think maybe this is the problem?

    • This uses a regularly available everywhere 184mm blade.

If you have a need for a real saw that can actually cut timber this is a great tool.

Unless you are paying LOTS of dollars, the cheap cordless 'tools' are almost worthless. These are the 'tools' that you are probably thinking of having special sized blades.

I was looking for a new Circular Saw.

This one is $95 less than Bunnies sell them for.

    Absolute bargain

Thanks so much for posting this!

      What was the giveaway?

      The 1350W in the subject?
The cord hanging out the back?
      The price?

      • No cord seen in picture provided or mentioned in description. Have to search for another photo of unit to check..

  • Cordless grinder would have been a winner but they only have it in a box set. Good prices though, shame I already have the drills or I'd snap that up.

  • Good first post. I see you were not in a hurry to submit one.

  • Great first post. +1 for sense of humor.
This reminds me of the Buzzsaw weapon from Dead Space.
It's one of the most powerful weapons in the game and cuts through the hordes like butter when fully upgraded.
    Limb dismemberment anyone?
