Xiaomi Mijia Smart LED Desk Lamp AUD $49.92 Inc. Priority Line Shipping (USD $37.99) @ GearBest

190

I've been eyeing these lamps off for a while, and this looks like the best price thus far, likely due to the rising Aussie dollar. What sweetens the deal is Priority Line shipping for only $1.80 (7-15 days), making it under $50 delivered, in a reasonable time frame. Only available in white.

Alternatively the original Xiaomi Philips Eyecare Smart Lamp 2 is on sale for AUD$60.48 + $2.75:

I want to get a Chinese bride named Xiaomi as well.

Given the speed at which robot technology is evolving, I believe that will be a reality in the not-too distant future, especially seeing as there's a chronic shortage of women in China…

Thanks for that information, I'm not really interested in it for the 'smart' features, moreso that it's adjustable for different situations, however I do like the Philips model too…decisions, decisions.

      • Bro if you are not gonna use its smart features and just want adjustability don't pay near $50..

        5 seconds of searching..

With more time I am sure I could probably even find cheaper elsewhere (also local power plug no adapter).

      Thanks for the info.

Using an app to turn on a lamp is just dumb. Would you rather reach out and press a button on the lamp, or reach into your pocket for your phone, unlock it with finger print, navigate back to your home screen, find the page with the app, launch the app, scroll through the menus to fund the right lamp, press that, select the on function and press OK?

In humanity's long journey to make life easier, apps can be a detour into a ditch.

      • I wholeheartedly agree. The only benefit I can see is messing with your wife/roomie by discretely powering the lamp on/off with your phone & scaring the crap out of them.

      • +2

I half agree with you here - probably wouldn't use the app to turn on/off a lamp but I actually use it a lot for my Yeelight. You can add a widget in iOS to turn on/off and start different "scenes", all it takes is a right swipe and clicking the widget (don't even have to unlock my phone).

      • I agree it is mostly gimmicky and takes a longer time when using a phone. I use a LIFX bulb but have a chrome extension to turn it on/off. So in this particular instance I'm two clicks away from turning it on/off which is slightly quicker than having to reach to turn the switch for a physical light. But again, it's still pretty gimmicky.

      • I just watched on of the vids and it shows them pressing the button to turn it on.. then the dial can increase brightness or if you hold it down adjust colour temp… so seems like you dont need the app at all for basic controls, but if you want the "modes' you will have to use the app?

Eh my lamp is in the corner of the room on a bedside table. Easier to use the app then to crawl across the bed to turn it on.

        Surprisingly handy sometimes

      • If distance of lamp is much greater than phone or tablet say out of reach then this is a heavenly godsend.. especially if you are about to sleep or just woke up in the middle of the night.

Getting out of bed or going out of your way just to turn on a light can be a nuisance especially when you know you can just remotely activate it.

I stopped reading half way. need a lamp and this one seems to be connected to NASA. will get one. thanks both

    • fulfill every need of yours

      Every need? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  • Using it, love it.

  • Do these have an AU plug?

    • +2

No, but it says in the FAQ:

We will send an adapter with all our products according to the order's country of delivery. Input Voltage: AC 100-240V

    • +5

My house is currently full of adapters.
Maybe it's time to change over to the China standard on the wall,
and ditch all these flimsy little adapters.

      • Xiaomi powerstrips!

      • From what I read, China wall sockets are the same as AU.

In China most wall sockets look like this, having a three pin plug which is common to Australia and New Zealand. The two vertical pin socket is widely used, and if you buy cheap appliances in China they will mostly come with this plug.

        http://welcometochina.com.au/power-adapters-and-sockets-in-c…

With the two vertical pins type (showing under Taiwan Power sockets - left hand picture), instead of using an adapter, I simply get a pair of pliers and gently bend the pins until they are the same angle as standard AU pins.

If the plug showing under Taiwan Power sockets - right hand picture, I simply cut it off and attach an AU plug purchased from Bunnings.

        • From what I read, China wall sockets are the same as AU.

Usually, but the earth pin is larger and won't fit in some sockets properly.

        • @Scab: Out of interest, are they longer or wider?

        • @GaelicAU:

Usually 1 mm longer which isn't an issue, but I've bought stuff that's also been a bit thicker and they're a tight fit.

        • @Scab: From my experience, anything from China is a tight fit.

  • does anyone know if you can just plug the Xiaomi devices into Australian powerpoints?

    • I have this, it comes with an adapter so you can plug in

  • bought one from a previous deal, and very happy with it so far.
does exactly what it needs to do.

  • When I go to do shipping, it says Priority is $1.80 but the shipping cost at the very bottom is $7??!

  • Has anyone hooked this up to google home. While on the subject has anyone ordered a MI AI? Deciding which path to take but not much out on the MI AI yet

  • I have the Eyecare 2. I can't connect it to Mi Home. It just never connects and the wifi light blinks blue forever.

Yes, I set region to Mainland China. Still no dice. And I am using a Xiaomi Mi4 phone.

  • Mine just arrived DOA. Trying to chase this up with gearbest is going to be fun. Thank god I purchased through paypal.

    • Scratch that. The adapter they included was faulty. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
