Saw these drop to $218, they started the day at $250 delivered so I jumped on them quickly.

Could work out cheaper for those with credit cards with better conversion rates. I don't own one so I can't say what the price will be

  • Great price. I'm still waiting for Amazon Italy to ship the one's I ordered last month for $20 more :(

  • Cancel the italian order if they haven't shipped and buy these (you're not charged until shipped). Or if shipped get in touch and complain and they may waive shipping.

    • They marked it as "shipped" on 28/07, but UPS (iParcel) still hasn't received the package from Amazon. The estimated delivery date isn't until 16/08, I just thought it would be a lot quicker, as is sometimes the case. Thanks anyway dude.

      • If you contact Amazon chat assistant and ask if they're going to make ETA they may change shipping to express (at no cost to you).

      • Mine was shipped on the 29th and says "Package arrived in the destination country" today. Maybe have another check.

        https://www.i-parcel.com/en/

        • Amazon lost my package, it never made it to UPS. They've just dispatched another one, but I've asked that the order be cancelled. Still waiting for a response.

          @aja12:

Ah okay hope things work out for ya champ

        • @aja12:

I've never heard of an Amazon order being cancelled after the product has already been dispatched.

        • @hollykryten: The original package has been lost, the new one hasn't actually been marked as shipped.

        • @hollykryten: Amazon just issued a refund.

        • @aja12:

But he said that they just dispatched another one which made it sound like the replacement had already been shipped.

        • @hollykryten: Do you want me to ask them to cancel my refund?

        • @aja12: If they sent a replacement AND issued a refund, it looks like you may have scored a freebie.

I'm pissed off that Amazon leaves their packages on my doorstep in plain sight. Someone could easily have stolen it. I never authorized anyone to leave things there. Couriers leave a card.

        • @lostn: The replacement hadn't been shipped before it was cancelled. The Amazon employee said that the replacement had been "dispatched", but it hadn't actually been shipped. Ordered this deal, saved $20, the wait begins again.

        • @aja12: What's the difference between 'dispatched' and 'shipped'?

The first package should have included tracking, so I don't know how it gets lost.

        • @lostn: I'm dealing with Amazon Italy, and presumably someone who's first language is Italian, so I'm not getting too hung up on "dispatched" versus "shipped". The term "dispatched" was used by an Amazon Italy rep I was communicating with via email, it never appeared in the order status.

Yes, the first package included tracking. But it never made it to UPS, who had received electronic shipping notification for the package (i.e. we are sending you this package for delivery to customer), but never actually received the package. There are multiple possibilities for why this could have occurred.

        • @lostn:

I thought there was no difference. Dispatched is just another term for shipped.

Geez give the poor guy a break will ya haha

        • @hollykryten:

Do you want Mical from Amazon Italy's email address so that let you can let him know that you think there is no difference between dispatched and shipped?

        • @dins: lol, I'm not even disagreeing with them.

  • I'm looking to spend around $200 on a new pair of headphones for my desktop PC. I mostly listen to EDM/Rock/Metal and I'm no audiophile, will these be all right? I have been looking at the Audio Technica m50x and the Senn Momentum 2.0 (over ear) as well.

    • +1

      Forget about the Momentums IMO.

      Do not know AT m50x.

Have owned Fidelio X2, they are neutral, I didn't like them for comp gaming and comfort and I imagine they migbht be lacking for bass with EDM and metal. Now own AKG K712 Pro which are neutral with bass emphasis and excellent for comp gaming, very happy with them after stretching to lower head clamp force.

      • Are you using an amp to drive the K712 Pro?

      • Some say the bass on these are pretty good?

        • For bass boosted stuff it's very good and smooth but on the whole for normal listening bass is ok but nothing special.

The hifimans from massdrop are worth considering too. You can pick up some good deals from amazon uk too if you keep your eye out. camel x3 is your friend.

I found the He400i lacks bass compared to the X2.

Momentums are a great allrounder for mine but a bit pricey. Will be tough to find an over ears momentum 2s for under $200. The first gen is pretty decent as well but the only issue is comfort won't recommend for long periods.

Can't go wrong with the m50xs you can pick one up for around the $150-160 mark as well from eBay when they have 10-20% off promos.

Haven't tried the X2s myself here's hoping it arrives this week :)

Happy long term user of dt 770 here. Long cable, closed, and comfortable enough to wear all day https://www.storedj.com.au//beyerdynamic-dt770-pro-closed-st…

Btw good find OP. Works out to be around $210 actually if you go without the Amazon currency conversion rate and have a no foreign transaction fee card. Got to be the lowest I've seen these go for. Paid around $230 myself few weeks back from Amazon Italy. Might pick up another pair if they sound as good as what a lot of ppl are claiming.

Let us know what you think of them. I am on the fence :-)

      • Will do champ :)

Well I received mine this arvo. Whoever delivered it had just left the parcel at the front door. Poor form had around $400 worth of stuff in there. The parcel looked to have been opened as well not properly taped up. Maybe customs or something. Lucky it was all still there when I got home.

Anyways had a good listen for a couple of hours. First impressions bit disappointed tbh. For mine the treble/highs seems very elevated/bright to the point where even with the volume a bit over half way I find myself having to adjust it for most songs constantly. So gets a bit tiring. Bass is decent for an open set but nothing special on the whole unless we are talking about heavily bass boosted mixes. Separation and soundstage (wide but not deep tho) however are fantastic. Also built like a tank and very comfy. Overall tho for around $230 expected better given all the hype. Much prefer the momentums if I'm being honest. Good thing that I jumped on the HD6xxs as well before that ended. Let's see how they go :)

          Thanks for the review!
Do you have any other cans? How do they compare to those?

        • +1

          @congngo:

I listen to all kinds of music and find neutral too boring so my sound preference is usually smooth tight bass, clean vocals and easy listening in that order. So I'm no audiophile by any means haha. Fun sound I think that's what they call it :)

          From what I own

          Overall SQ for general listening imo: momentums > m50xs > urbanite xls > xb950s > qc35s

x2s I would probably put just ahead of the m50xs overall. I think their strength is sound separation. So these for example sound amazing and more detailed.

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShmSoZxETpY
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgxjElvllCs

Also the soundstage is very good as well but it's wide and not deep. I would describe it as front-row sort of soundstage. Should be good for movies and gaming as well.

Bass is ok but it's tight punchy sort of bass not as smooth as the momentums. So needs a bit of help from the source bass boosted stuff sounds dope.

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cz9-lSzgpM4
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZiW3QmGfHo

Vocals are clean for the most part but sharp highs is an issue here and there when it pops up. Other than that overall I would say these are a very good set of cans but wouldn't recommend for over $200 especially given that they would strictly be for home use. Looks hideous on lol.

        • +1

          @dins: Thanks!

        • @congngo:

No worries bud. Btw what sort of sound/use are you after? Can probably give you better info that way.

        • @dins: hi champ. I am after clear sound with a lot of deep bass. Similar to what you would hear at clubs :)

        • +1

          @congngo:

Big tick for clear sound on these but bass is more like tight/punchy sort of bass than deep. These are actually starting to sound better and better by the day got to say. Either my ears are doing the adjusting or the sound is improving. Or maybe a bit of both haha.

I think HD650s might be what you are after. From what I have come across they should fit the bill. Mass drop should be putting up another 5k or so units of their HD6xxs (pretty much same as the HD650s) up for grabs in the near future for around $270 delivered.

          https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-sennheiser-hd6xx

So for around $50 extra those would be the better bet for mine.

thanks, i have been shamelessly monitoring an amazon comparison website since the last X2 deal waiting for a good price XD

      https://www.heidoc.net/amazon/amazon_global_check.php?q=&asi…

      • Good stuff! :)

  • Comes up defaulted as GBP?
    Change to Euro?

    • That's strange you sure you are on Amazon.es bud? Should defo be in Euros.

      • Maybe my Amazon account address is UK located.

        • Yeah that could be it then. Otherwise should be either AUD or Euro/USD/GBP etc.

  • Price has gone back up.
