    GE really makes some crap.

That's a bit rough. I'll admit, on occasions they do make some left of field products, but to suggest they are crap without further explanation is a little unfair.

Very cheap Key safes may not be your cup of tea, but obviously many here find a use for them. The fact we price them cheap is due to a purchase of liquidated stock, not because they are inferior in quality. Quite the opposite in fact.

      • This is any item no-one needs.

Which one is it? Silver or white?
        The white one looks plastic.

I don't get this product.. you punch in your code, you take your keys out, to put into the door.
Might as well have a digital lock on your door, so you only need to punch in your code once (and not have to put in keys into the door).
Also, if there was a robber, and they saw that the owner had one of these, they would camp in the garden waiting for the owner to return, the time it takes for them to fiddle out the keys is enough to go up to them and like.. I dunno.. blackmail them, hold them at knifepoint and tie them up (then rob the poor guy who bought this lock). Or some fag kids could superglue this thing.

To me, all this product does is delay yourself getting into your own house.
Why can't people just CARRY your keys in your handbag or in your pocket?
Not saying its a bad deal, but is it even a useful product..?

The only use I can think of is for burying your spare house key in the garden or something like that incase some idiot child of yours needs to get back home themselves and has forgotten their key (they deserve to be punished for being an idiot)

        • These things are handy for builders, tradies, landlords, real estate agents, etc, etc…there are a range of legitimate minimal security applications for this kind of product! They're not meant to be a safe, and aren't meant to replace the need to carry your own personal set of keys! We use them all the time for multiple access to various sites; ours aren't GE, but I don't reckon they'd be this cheap either!

You don't put these on display, you put them in a meter box or somewhere covert to reduce the chance of tampering. If someone has serious intentions of robbing you, trust me…they don't need your keys, they kick in doors & smash windows, they don't "camp out" waiting for owners to open keyboxes in a residential setting just for a B&E! ;)

  • I wouldn't say that. I am looking for a key-safe and will consider this. It beats having a key "hidden around the back".
It's a good price for a key-safe, although I don't know if it is a good key safe.
