Finally close to their true value! $175 for this is just a bit crazy.

Why not give credit to the original poster over here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/323878

That's an unrelated (yet hilariously timed) post

    • maybe he didn't know that was there? and 'i think i saw' isnt really a post.

Hmm? I was at Bunnings when I posted it. I'm still here, in fact. Did you actually think I read that post, then quickly drove over to Bunnings within 10-15 mins just to snap that photo? :)

Maybe you were in Bunnings browsing ozb? Haha :)

Lol I do that too haha.

        • @Calvin27: Laughing? Does that mean I'm weird that it's one of the things I do when I'm in Bunnings/OfficeWorks/JBHifi etc.? Ah well, I'm used to it. :)

If you were a real Ozbargainer you'd be camped out in Bunnings' car park waiting to post bargains.

Shame it doesn't have DAB+, but it does have Bluetooth.

No big deal, dab is so last year. ;)

Bbc world service on sbs 4 is the ducks nuts.

How is this compare to this one https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/323895, in term of sound quality?

    • I've not used either but a home speaker system will sound way better than a jobsite radio.

      • +5

And look a lot better in your house, unless you are going for a construction site look.

        • It's the latest fad!

goes well with my plumber uniform on mon and wed nights…

        • lol. industrial lighting made out of pipe fittings is very much a thing at the moment

Can confirm it’s promotional stock, and the deal is national.

    • But I couldn't find it on Bunnings website, can you?

  • +1

Is it DAB or old school FM

    • Old skool AM & FM, Homie.

  • Got one but refunded it as the Bosch batteries are expensive and u will need a charger (according to Amazon reviews) to charge the battery as the radio wont charge the battery.

Apart from the expensive portability option (having batteries), it's actually a good price. When I bought it the toolshop area was blasting Fox!

    • You don't just need the charger, you need to buy a battery as it doesn't come with one. It'll work off the included power brick though.

    • +3

I think the idea is that you already have a Bosh tool set (drill etc) so you'd already have a charger.

lol. can't believe that needs to be said

  • Damn, no stock at my local :(

  • Saw a guy walking out with 2 of these when at Bunnings Woodville SA earlier today.
Didn't know they were on special.

  • Why would any general DIYer buy one of these? Genuinely interested. I've seen my local Bunnings have specials on AEG and Ryobi ones in the past (which I have batts) but I can't see the need. If I'm in my garage, well that's close enough. And the builders I walk past just use their ute radios.

It's not for everyone. Some people might want music/podcasts in the garage when they're working, but don't want to get sawdust all over their nice Bose SoundLink. Or they might be painting the house and don't want white specks of paint on their UE Boom 2 or SRS-X55. They can then

With a tough, purpose-built radio like this, it doesn't matter if it falls off the table, gets paint from dirty hands all over it, has the speaker grilles filled with sawdust, or gets hit by the ladder that you're moving. Just like a 4WD, it's only legit if it looks dirty. :)

And the builders I walk past just use their ute radios.

Surely the builders you walk past do work at the back of the house too. And the inside. And in shops where you can't park right next to the job site.

    • I use mine if I'm working in a room that has no radio. I used it when I took my tools to my friends house to work on his car. Use it when working in the backyard.

I've been looking for something to replace an old 80s japanese made boombox I had in the garage that died a while back. I bought one of these today and I'm really impressed with it for $50.

Good volume, gets loud enough without distorting, sound quality is good. Bass is a bit boomy but can be toned down a bit with the inbuilt EQ. Bluetooth synced perfectly with my phone. Even has 2 year warranty. For $49 you won't be able to beat this. Trust me, I've looked. All the sub $100 mini-hifis/portable speakers are fairly rubbish. This is a really good shed/garage/worksite radio.

Only complaint so far is the ridiculous size of the power adaptor that prevents you from having anything plugged in next to it on a powerboard. This is a problem that can be fixed by using an extension lead or possibly snapping off those unnecessary wings on the adaptor.

Doesn't have USB or DAB radio, but can do AUX input and comes with an AUX cable. It's more than enough for what I use it for, highly recommend it if you don't have a need for DAB/USB.
