Good deal for some local stock

There is a cheaper version @ jwcomau http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/222572307182 for $970 but they have jacked the price since midday today as it used to be $1150 :(

  • Is this a triple or dual slot card?

    • Triple

    • 2.5 they say

    • ok thanks.
My wifi card may not fit then :(

      • only evga claims their cards are 2 slots.

  • This is the non Xtreme version, that version cost like $50 more… You can get the Xtreme OC version on Amazon for CHEAPER than the 20% off. Was going to buy it, but realized it wasn't Xtreme :(

    • The problem is its over $1000 which attracts customs duty. i just bought this one. just read reviews on the extreme version and its not even any different.

      • Its worth it if you're planning on overclockings as its binned so you get a sure thing instead of trying your silicon lottery luck

      • I thought Amazon collects the duty on your behalf (usually when it adds Import fees). I tried adding the Xtreme to my cart, with delivery, it showed no import fees, but converted to $1002AUD.

        • That would be because delivery fees aren't included in the $1000 limit. It's only for the product if it converts to being over $1000AU.

        • @Porthos: ahh thanks, that makes sense. So overall, 20% ebay deal is still more expensive than Amazon with no discounts and delivered from across the world. WTF

        • +1

@overshopper: I guess simply because it's not a real 20% off sale because of the price jacking that happens with all these specific stores sales. There are occasional bargains but overall most of them are just barely under what the actual cheapest price out there is.

Plus don't forget everything in Australia attracts 10% GST off the bat which Amazon don't have to pay (yet). Direct import from overseas has generally always been cheaper, especially when the AU$ strengthens like it has lately. Has some trades offs though which for electronic stuff, unless it's a significant savings (or can't be bought here) then I usually buy local, but that's just me :-)

  • Is this the cheapest way to buy a 1080 ti right now including overseas shops? I want to pull the trigger on one but i was hoping more around the $900 mark.

    • You can get an evga one from newegg for around $960 express shipped, but i figured $30 is a fair premium for local stock

      • What are the performance differences between the EVGA SC and this card? Is a 3 fan card going to be louder than a 2 fan card?

        • Performance difference between different card brands is very minimal, some cards like the FTW are binned for better overclocking performance. As for noise and such youll need to watch a review, but it shouldnt be that much louder as 3 fans can cool the same card to a certain temp at a lower speed than two fans could

        • Ok thanks mate, I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this one. Doesn't seem like there have been a lot of 1080 ti deals lately.
