Pretty good deal for an AMD Ryzen 7800X3D from AliExpress

There have been previous ozbargain posts from this seller so I think there is enough legitimacy:

    Screenshot of my order:

Your order is pretty high, I am getting USD286.25 (AUD439 after conversion as per XE.com). Probably better pay in USD?

    • Yeah best to do it with USD - in my excitement I forgot to switch to USD :(

      I'll update the post.

  • +9

It's an affiliated product so should be eligible for cashback. (~$40 for existing customers, $50 for new customers)

    https://www.shopback.com.au/aliexpress

    • do I need to pay in AUD for cash back?

      • No

        • Thank you!

    • +1

      Nicely spotted!

  • +4

Excellent find! Actually works with the coupons for once, now it's back to what it was last year. With shopback new account would be $393 after cashback! Coupons don't seem to work with 7700 unfortunately.

  • +1

PayPal charged me but didn't take me back to the order summary and didn't complete the order. Not sure why, just a warning for anyone else attempting to use PayPal

    • All good, refunded now

  • -2

    where's my AMD mate at

  • +7

Soon it'll be some selling brand new 7800X3D with shipping seal for $600 on FB marketplace lol

  • +1

    Insane deal!

  • +2

AU$443.52 was my total when paying with USD on a card with no additional conversion fee (Up Bank)

    Thanks OP

  • Excellent score. Now my factory can once again grow.

    Thanks bro.

    • Martincitopants viewer nice

  • That is an amazing price

    • +2

Ive got 4 CPU's here all from Aliexpress. 2x Ryzen 7700 1x Ryzen 7600 and 1x Ryzen 7500F.. all of them work great and all arrived issue free.

      • -5

        Why buy so many cpus

        • +1

Two 7700 in two PC's and a spare 7600 and 7500F that i may sell or use to make a PC for the office (work). They were all very cheap CPU's $160 to 200 so its not a waste of money sitting on them.. all 4 were still cheaper then buying a single 9800X3D :)

    • +1

Why pay twice as much for a product with an incredibly low failure rate with PayPal protection for the cheaper option?

      • -2

you do you, i rather have local warranty

I rather not take such a big risk on an expensive product

        • +1

Local warranty isn't worth paying so much extra to most people, which answers your question and is why extended warranty isn't popular.

Most people won't pay over $250 for an extra 6 months warranty on a $450 product, especially when the product is known for being reliable.

    • +2

Talking about risk, the part that cashback from shopback may be more risky than the Aliexpress CPU itself.

  • Grab one thanks OP! Hopefully shopback pulls through with the goods

    • +1

      Mine is already tracked

  • How long do these take to ship?

    • Between 1 to 3 weeks. :) sometimes its fast sometimes slow

      • I'm so tempted

        • Nevermind I thought this was AM4!

  • -3

Apparently Zen 6 will have 12 core CCD. So the Ryzen 7 next gen will have 12 cores, and the cores will have lower latency.

I'd wait imo. 450+ for an old CPU is not worth it.

    • if it works on am5 mobo id be happy to wait

      • It will. AM4 supported Zen, Zen+, Zen 2 and Zen 3.

AM5 only has Zen 4 and Zen 5. It'll defo get Zen 6.

      • +1

I somewhat disagree, firstly it is basically known zen6 will be on AM5, however it's not a guarantee. Secondly I think a 7800x3D will be more than enough for next 3-4 years (possibly more), after which you can just skip 9800x3d and go to whatever the equivalent zen6 CPU will be … That will likely also give you another 3-4 years without needing to change platforms… Whereas if you wait (assuming you are likely needing a CPU upgrade now or soon).. you will basically get the last and only generation before the next platform is released … I'm sure they'll last a long time but you wont get 6-8yrs out of the mb/ram you purchased vs if you go in to a platform earlier.

This all obviously only works if you need a CPU, if your already on AM5 then waiting is also fine.

    • +6

      zen 6 release date
      late 2026 early 2027
      ”i’d wait”

      • Oh shit 2026? I take back my words. Thought this was about to release right now.

    • +6

This price for this level of performance, you will not lose even in the long run.

Age isn't relevant, it's not going to date worse than any other current hardware available. It's on am5 platform with the same feature set as any other available chip.

Waiting for new gen hardware isn't a bad idea if you have no need to upgrade, but that's always the case. However, there's also no guarantee of better price to performance on new hardware. So if you want/need a chip now at this performance level I'd go for it.

      • 100% agreed… I wish I had the money to change from my AM4 but unfortunately not on the cards at the moment.

        • I have the money to get a PC. THen I look at my laptop's 3070 and ask "What games can't you run?", then I look at all my hours working, then I continue playing 2015-2017 games on max settings.

  • +7

    Shopback tracked $38.79

  • +3

I pulled the trigger. Now to decide whether to to cancel this buyers remorse or return the other 7700 cpu from the previous aliexpress deal and use this

Bought 3 cpus in the last month thanks to ozbargain. Cancelled the mwave 9800x3d, now one more order must die

    • aliexp allows FOC buyer's remorse returns?

      • Thats my understanding of their returns policy but i could be wrong as never done it before

  • +1

I got a 9700x for $363 charged on my card, plus $25 from cashrewards (The most consistent one, my preference even at lower cap) = $338, pretty happy as ~30% cheaper than 7800x3d

    • This deal got 7800x3d for $400 after cashback.
Have one already but can build another one

      • +1

Shopback is always a hit or miss for me ,it basically refuses half of my claims a few months after tracked, now I just ignore it. Good for you if you can get that extra $25.

        • Mine got 38 dollars tracked already

  • Specs in the add is all over the place. Dodgy?

    • The store is legit, have bought from them before

  • Bought one.

    Thanks OP!

  • Thanks OP! Bought one, now need to get rid of the 7700 i got last week.

With regard to shopback, i had the green icon come up on the browser addon and in the webpage when checking out.

How long does it take to track in that instance?

  • currently using a 7500F with 4070 Super. worth the upgrade?

    • I went from a 5600x to the 7800X3D with a 4070Ti and my 1% lows improved significantly with much less noticeable stuttering.

Although I also did a fresh install of windows at the time which could have made a difference. YMMV

If you're happy with the performance of your current build then I see no point in upgrading

    • I think it largely depends on the games you play and how. If running lower res and pushing higher frames where you might be CPU limited, then yes. but per other comment, can also improve eg 1% lows and gain some extra frames even where you're GPU limited in a higher res - as I understand it.

    • If you play games that favors CPU power, i.e. World of Warcraft, you will see significant improvements with the FPS.

  • If I buy one….i just need to wait for a deal on every other part :(

  • +1

Am I missing something with the OP's price? As with checkout you get the added gst added onto the price bringing mine up to $520, or are we including the cash back in the OP's price?

    • +1

Might need to manually apply the coupon AUEF66, also USD payment with no fee card will be cheaper

      • 100% I totally forgot. Cheers

  • Which ATX motherboard under $350 would be good for the 7800x3d?

    • Would love to know this also

    • +3

I bought a b650m MSI gaming wifi MOBO for $160 from centrecom for this CPU, it works perfectly but will need to monitor it more during summer. Only thing is the b650's only support pcie 4 not 5 which isn't an issue for now as there's no performance drop at all from pcie 4 to 5. I'd recommend the MSI gaming plus wifi motherboard though for $220 which has better vrm's (cooling).

  • Thanks OP. Purchased one.

Anyone know about the warranty on these? I’m guessing these are OEM and AMD warranty wont apply. Not that concerned just interested to know.

Too good of a deal to pass up.

    • Nope, your only recourse for any issue with your purchase is getting refund/ return request from seller, though that would be rare…

  • Super good price but I just finished a 7700 build from a previous deal :(

    • What motherboard did you use?

      • +1

        Asus rog b650e-i (itx)

        • That costs some serious bucks compared to the motherboard deals that we get for budget ones. What made you choose it and what should I be looking for, in motherboards?

          • +1

@gamesnepal: I only build itx/small pc’s but unfortunately they cost a bit more.
For this cpu you can definitely get something cheaper in atx or matx size.
B650 chipset is the minimum and the 7800x3d should be supported with the latest bios versions.
Anything will do, just get something that has good reviews and enough specs (usb ports fan/rgb headers, m.2 slots etc) for your liking.

  • I have always dreamed of building a CPU, but I have never done it. Should I order this processor and use it as a starting point? I always wanted to build a CPU with 7800x3D, as it seems to be the popular one among OZBargainers.

    • +3

It sounds to me like you don't have a good reason to get the 7800X3D so I would recommend you save yourself a couple of hundred bucks and look for a cheap AMD Ryzen 7600/7700 cpu for under $200 and use the money you save on buying a decent graphics card.

Most folks won't need the extra performance that the 7800X3D provides when gaming and the graphics card is what will bring the most improvement to your gaming experience so invest in that part.

      • Yes, you do make a good point. If I choose Ryzen 7 7700 CPU, I will have more money for a GPU. Which NVIDIA GPU should I aim for if I pick this CPU?

        • +1

AMD 9070XT or Nvidia 5070 TI

          • @2-1: Thanks for the suggestions. If it is not too much to ask, I am confused about motherboards (and their naming conventions). Would you also kindly make me a quick PC part picker list like you did it for the other guy?

  • Hmm to upgrade from 9600x or not to upgrade.

Got that one for <$300….. tempting, but have nothing to put the old CPU into. hmmmm

edit: I run 4K but dip into DLSS for some games.

  • Whats the cost for CPU+Mobo+DDR5 for AM5? I've got a good AM4 system with 5950x + 128GB DDR4 so debating whether to upgrade.

  • +1

Just got this.. was charged $444.29 AUD and I did top cash back so prob $30 back. I really wanted to get a 9800X3D but that price difference is too much.

    • I think you got the last one, now price has gone up hahahaha

  • Has anyone received their CPU yet?

Mine has apparently left the country on 21 June but I can't verify the tracking number as no tracking site can find it.

    • +1

Same as me. Delivery does say 22-27 June so no alarm bells yet…

      • Same timeframe as me. other items that shipped later have arrived in the country though

        • +1

Just got an update, arrived at local airport! Phew

  • +1

it's back for anyone who wants to cop it again, i got one

  • +1

Back in stock again, use code AUAF66 for a $40 USD discount, total of $287.33 USD delivered (~$440 AUD)

    • Coupon doesnt work on this deal

      • It worked when I made that post.

Try some others, there are plenty of live codes at the moment.

  • +2

Delivered this avo, unfortunately it looks different. Not made in Malaysia, it's made in china, different pcb.

I'll test it then post again.

    • Interesting..
Looking at review pics on Ali I can see that some are Malaysian and some are from China. What would be the difference? Keen to now how yours go as I'm still waiting on mine!

    • Mine also looks different to what I can see online: https://i.imgur.com/IFGzxVA.jpeg

Let us know how you get on, I don't have a system I can test on at the moment

      • +1

Review from AliExpress I found: "Received as expected, it is missing capacitors at the top compared to the old design but this is by design and completely normal as they tend to review the design of the processor in the factory. POSTed fine, benchmarks fine, temperatures fine, 10/10 would buy again for the price of £250. Insane bargain."

Also many reviews have the same PCB look.

      • +1

Looked at your photo and used these video to look for clues:
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7C_x5EI-fQ
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYmQCVfbH_Q

        Good:
        -PCB colour looks right
-Thin different colour outline on the substrate
        -SMDs have glue
        -The QR code works
-I looked up your serial number against AMD and got a positive result (https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/faqs/SNV-L…)

        Bad/Confusing:
        -Made in China

    • +1

Thanks for pointing this out. I haven't received mine yet so I can't compare.

A couple of ozbargainers reported the same on a previous deal:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/898789

Nobody has mentioned that they got a dud yet.

Would be interested to see if your benchmarks meet typical numbers for a 7800X3D.

    • +5

I had mine come in today, the different look is due to it being a newer revision, I have seen this come up before and seen people have had confirmation from AMD.

I just got mine up and running, I can confirm it's 100% authentic, cpu-z reads correct with the extra cache, performance in cinebench is also spot on.

So no need to stress, enjoy the bargain.

      • Did yours come with the box at least? Mine is beyond suss…

        • No box, these are Tray CPU's (OEM) they're bought in bulk for system building. What you get is just the cpu in a small clear clam shell case, nothing to be worried about.

    • Did yours come with the box? Mine did not.

      • They're OEM chips, there is no "box".

  • Finished assemble and test. So far so good, except made in china😂
