Forget the Aussie BBQ, at Favela, it's all about the Brazilian Churrascaria!

Sick of charred chops and over-cooked snags? Discover the BBQ that's got Aussies giving up the boring BBQ and turning to the heart-starting flavours of Brazil! Favela is the fantastic Churrascaria (Brazilian for BBQ!) set in the heart of Sydney's CBD. It's famed for its impressive menu chock full of juicy servings of marinated meats and fresh Brazilian flavours. Whether you love pork, lamb, chicken or beef, Favela is sure to bring out the Carnivore in you.

Favela selects the only premium meats to create their mouth-watering Rodizio's (Skewers). Meats are cooked slowly over the traditional charcol (pronounced shoo-RAS-koo) BBQ. After many hours, the meat is cooked to absolute perfection and each piece of delicately carved meat is separated from a skewer and placed on your plate for consumption. Get ready to set your tastebuds to overload!

You will also love the awesome range of side dishes including roasted potatoes, rice and traditional feijoda and farfoa. Dessert you ask? Favelas really covers all the bases with traditional Brazilian dessert? There's Sagu, Cocada, Acia and Fresh Banana (blended), Ferijao ice cream and more.

Mod: Please see current discussion of issues with Scoopon's Bisq BBQ (Melbourne) deal. Note that these restaurants are not associated with each other nor located in the same place.

    Mr Rep.
Have you read this post? Opinions?
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/32542

What measures are you putting in place so this does not happen to more people at Bisq, or to people who purchase this deal.

can the restaurant say that they only accept a certain number of scoopon sittings per night?

    • If you are going to offer a special deal to promote your establishment, why would you then do everything possible to make your guest's visit into a nightmare?

We can only hope that the Favela rep and management has a clear strategy, to ensure that the Bisq fiasco doesn't happen again. These kinds of restaurants are really great, so it's sad to watch them commit suicide in such a public yet totally avoidable way.

    • thanks, wasn't aware of that… will give these a miss from now on…

  • +2

And hey stop calling Aussie BBQ crap… it's not.

    • Sorry mate! But it is when compared with Brazilian BBQ.

  • Aussie bbq involves the webber - one of the best you can have!

  • Thanks for the heads up! Will probably give it a miss.

morphio, to be fair, note that this is an issue with Bisq in Melbourne and not Favela in Sydney (as far as I know).

      • Yep…but just something to be aware of…might or might not happen.

In any case, a response from the rep is really needed here, at least to guarantee that the same fiasco will not happen.

      • That is true, I do feel better about it now that I've seen the rep replying to the thread.

Hi Guys, This has nothing to do with Favela, and all refund requests are being treated seriously, should you have any refund requests or complaints please feel free to contact us on [email protected] so we can assist you further. Lets try not to trash other threads in other states that have nothing to do with this place of business.

I wasent aware of the other thread and will work through it now. Cheers Mick123

      Good one reps. Much appreciated.

I agree, the two businesses are not related to each other. But it does indirectly connected to your business (i.e. scoopon).
So, it's perfectly normal and logical that people worry that similar thing might happen.

      • +3

I appreciate the rep responding, however I am not going to buy deals from Scoopon until I hear that the outstanding issues with the other deal have been resolved.

    • +3

I hope you guys at least do some basic checks, like

number of coupons offered < seats X sessions X days

It's a bit worrying when you hear of 5000 coupons sold for a 30 table restaurant for the next 3 months.

I also hope you guys withhold payment until the coupons are sent back to you, so restauranters don't get anything if they don't fulfill the order.

Speaking of which, what happens to the money for unredeemed coupons?

      • +1

that's how they make their profits! =D

  • +4

With eatability score so low, and thats paying full price, i wonder if this will be similar experience to the Bisq. Well Bisq will close soon anyway.. bad business

The same issues occurred here in Sydney with the Churras voucher from Ouffer.

I am a regular Churras client and was annoyed when they refused any weekend bookings using the Ouffer voucher - the restrictions on weekend bookings was never mentioned when I bought the voucher.

Churras is a ~30 seat restaurant and over 5000 people bought the Ouffer.

Buyer beware with these style of coupons.

  • -3

There are no limitations on these vouchers, I can assure you, we have a very open refund policy, I am South American, and probably eat this kind of food twice a week. I Cant help you with Ouffer relate enquiries, Guys Lets keep focus on the offer at hand, and leave discussions for Ouffer, and other scoopon deals in other threads.

    • +5

Dude you need to chillax on trying to stop people from talking about other scoopon deals, it doesn't reflect well on you in IMHO, it's not like it's out of control or your offer is being negged majorly!

      • No, people like you need to chill. He has just been trying to get through that this has nothing to do with the problems on the other deals. Different city and different restraunt.

He is handling the other threads perfectly fine and answering any questions related to other offers in other threads, where they belong. Let him handle his representative role.

        • +1

GreatWhiteHunter says some very relevant things however. Read his post and do the maths. It doesn't matter whether it is ouffer, scoopon, etc, the principle is still the same.

Favela has nothing to do with Bisq, that is true, however I think it is very relevant to raise in this thread the issue of how scoopon is going to respond when the service they are selling has been overbooked.

That said I am happy with infallible's responses here and on the other thread regarding the resolution of the bisq situation.

        • I have no issue with that, however it is not a reps role to moderate the forum and it's threads and the way in which he communicated it. I'm not even from Sydney and I took issue with it, imagine how many locals he could loose being that with prospective customers?

    • +1

      I am Australian. wh00p wh00p.

  • +1

The only other thing I can say is that these coupons are starting to make these restaurants a bit like the Black Stump - more than 80% of diners using vouchers so you feel like a complete goose if you don't have one.

  • +3

Infernal_max, your right mate. I just wanted to point out the two are not linked ,we are handling the bisq offer, and happy to answer any questions in relation to favela here. cheers

    • +3

      poor rep =[

    • I'm sure that was your intention and I too understand both sides, it just didn't read
that way when I posted that comment

  • Thanks Geko , your comments are appreciated, I do completely understand the other side of the coin guys, I might be in a rep role, but have been an avid supporter of ozbargains for years! Love a good bargain :)

  • Infallible, what is the seating capacity of this place? I hear it may be as small as 36. Is that true.

850+ scoopons sold. That's 1700ppl (plus more being sold)

They are only open Thurs-Sun. Expires 15 Feb. Approx 18 weekends away. Make it 16, taking out xmas and new years.

That is approx 65 days open. There are 2 sittings per night, so 130ish total sittings.

If capacity really is 36 ppl, thats total of about 4500 diners.
I hope this restaurant doesnt discriminate scoopon purchasers by not letting them book on the 2 main nights (Fri + Sun).

  • +1

Hi Mick the reasturant seats 80 and goes through about 160 guests each night. All nights will be avaliable to scoopon members and favela are more than happy to commence bookings. Enjoy guys

    • Thanks greatly for the reply and I apologise if you think I was trying to give you a hard time. Its just good to be sure before you buy something.
+ve fro me as the DEAL is great. Hope the EXPERIENCE is too.

    • any chance you can reply to my emails regarding the BISQ scoopon offer?

  • Hi Peter. I dont work in customer service but I will ask them to contact you as soon as possible.
