iZotope have been having a sale about once a week throughout August with their various 'Elements' range of plugins. I've been hanging out for RX6 to come on sale since it came out earlier this year.

If you haven't heard of it, you probably don't need it. But for those interested here is a description:

RX Elements

Essential audio repair at an affordable price
RX Elements is a budget-friendly version of RX designed for small home studios that need the basics. It includes the standalone audio editor and spectral editing so you can visualize your audio and make edits with precision and accuracy.

In addition, RX Elements includes four essential, real-time noise reduction plug-ins that can also be used inside your favorite digital audio workstation, including the critically acclaimed De-noise technology.

JRRShop are US based, I've ordered from them a few times, yet to have an issue. My RX6 license appeared in my inbox with minutes of finalising the checkout process.

Add the GROUP coupon code to get it for US$24.36 (~AU$30.84). Great software for cleaning up audio.

    • Nice find ;)

  • Thanks ageek.

Can you share what you intend to use this for? Also have you tried using it yet? What are your thoughts so far? For me I wish the Elements version included de-ess and a few others.

For others here, here is a nice comparison of the different versions of RX6.

    • I've yet to give RX6 a spin yet. Good idea with the comparison link, I don't even know what half of those modules are.

For fun I record a few friends with a simple one mic setup in my house. Unfortunately it's not perfect and sometimes unwanted noises happen, hopefully this can fix up that.

But where I'll get the most use is lately I've been working on editing a number of video projects that tend to be on the run, the audio can be average at best. I usually run the audio through Adobe Auditions noise reduction tool. I'm hoping that this can help where that can't.

The first time I watched someone use RX4 a few years back they were taking the 'stick click' out of some drum microphones (you know when a drummer yells 1, 2, 3, 4 while bashing his sticks together). For some reason that click bleed into another microphone that had the start of the song (piano probably) & using RX4 we could see the click in the frequency view, it was a matter of circling the click & tada the audio was healed & no more stick click.

Do you think you'd have a use for it?

      • Personally I just use the Noise removing functions within Adobe Audition. I have been very happy with that. I have the CS6 version so I don't have to pay a subscription. The subscription worries me as I like to own software where I create new content, otherwise in the future I won't be able to open MY files.

If this software included the De-esser, then I would snap it up. But that will require me to get the RX6 Standard edition which is significantly more and hard to justify the difference at this stage.

        Hope that helps.

        • Adobe auditions tool is pretty amazing.
I do worry about that File lock out issue. I try and save all my projects in as many 'standard'ish formats as possible when I'm done with it.
