  • The way the Aussie $ is going against the US$ the new machines are prolly gunna be at this price anyways! heh ;-)

    • No, Apple product pricing is usually not affected by the Aussie dollar.

  • +1

Just so you know, Apple is going to have an event on 20th of October named "Back to the Mac", so you might want to hold of buying Apple stuff until then, just in case these become 2-generations old.

    • iMac was recently updated.

MBP and MB Air is what is likely to be updated.

      • rumour has it that they will be announcing the new os. something to do with lion.
so if it that does happen and you buy later, then you wouldn't have to buy an upgrade

        macs have os upgrades, right?

        • Yes, Lion will be announced. You'll still have to pay for it because it's 6-12 months away from being RTM.

There aren't even any dev packs at the moment.

Expect some new macs aswell :)

    • Isn't the i5/i7 species of CPU the current generation ?
Which if superceeded by new models would make these on offer one generation old ?
Or have I slipped out of the loop on CPU's since "going Apple" and it's really Apple who already a generation behind the rest of the industry and i5/i7 are already old ?

Anyway… good deal. The 27" iMac is SPECTACULAR as I sit here looking at my i7 varietal :-)
And as has been mentioned… Apple will take a loooong time, if at all to adjust pricing based on rises in AUD$. So either grab from USA, but factor in ALL your costs, such as GST, import fees, and warranty returns… or grab one of these.

I always say - Just because a new model comes out, it doesn't make the current one any LESS better than it was yesterday.

  • That is the superseded model. Dick Smith had the "current" 2.8 i5 QUAD for $2109 last week.

    • Yup, this is a superseded model, graphics card is a major upgrade in the current one (from what whirlpool has informed me). Also, DSE's price last week was $2209. Used my 5% off gift cards to secure it at $2090!

      • good deal. I will wait until Xmas and see

      • wots 5%off giftcard

        • oh, I have some corporate perk that offers me wish cards (used at woolies, caltex, dan murphys & dse's) for 5% discounted.

  • my friend got one from HT 2 weeks ago for $1599(refurnished one). and he also got an apple care from Ebay, costing $1xx. he is a happy guy now.

    • Apple care for me from ebay has always been a hit or miss. Sure, it may validate now, but I'm not sure what happens when you do choose to make a claim against it. I haven't really scoured whirlpool for a definitive answer though.

      • Applecare CODES have been blocked by Apple from new registration (If purchased off ebay as they require a receipt).

        Applecare BOXS still work.

  • Apple have refurbed 27" iMacs for $1700: http://store.apple.com/au/product/FB952X/A?mco=MTM3NDc1NzM

    • These are older again with previous gen C2D processors.
