  • Great game

    Two notes:

    -Not Supported on QVGA devices
    -Its ad Supported.

  • the ad is only the screen for one second each time you start a new game.

but i suspect they will release a paid non-ad version.

non supported qvga devices include: x10 mini, wildfire

    • -6

Nope, looks like an ad every time you do a new LEVEL!
      I HATE ads!

      • I am on level 21, and use adfree, haven't seen an ad yet.

        • +1

Me too. You need root for adfree though.

Lol @ the complaints. This is a great game, devs gotta eat one way or another.

    • Android Market is available in 44 countries but in only 31 of them can apps actually be purchased. In the others, you can only download free ones. And there are only 29 countries from which developers can actually sell apps.

    • boo…i have a mini! does that just mean there's no way around this?? no angry birds?? :(

  • Love the Angry Birds on my iPhone/iPad.
Great game, and for free even better.
Although it's actually a game I'm happy to pay for because they keep adding new levels as free upgrades for paid users. They could easily have held back the amount of new levels they have issued for free and made AB2 and charged for a new version.
    Love Live Rovio…

    • Yeah, but there's no ADS
And it works on all devices… everytime, every version.
Sometimes "free" has it's cost also…

  • +1

    I get

"There are no matches in android market for the search: pname com.rovio.angrybirds"

    :(

    • what phone u got?

      • xperia x10

worked fine with the link below from chux.

    • +1

      me too, on Moto Quench

    • +1

see my comment bellow… open provided link on your android phone and download from there. worked for me…

For those that cant find it, search the official Android Marketplace. Free download there

  • +3

Use this link on you android phone.
GetJar is the app store that Rovio is using for Angry Birds currently… i couldn't find it myself on the Android Market on Samsung Galaxy S but this way worked great…

    e-mail from Rovio:

    Angry Birds available for Android

IT’S HERE. AND IT’S FREE. After an extended period of beta testing, Rovio is proud to present Angry Birds for the Android platform. First of all, we’d like to thank you for your patience.

Why is Angry Birds free on Android? We want to make Angry Birds available for as many people as possible. Previously, many people were experiencing problems in finding Angry Birds on Android Market, but now everybody can download the game on their device.

Angry Birds will run on second generation Android devices and upwards, with Android platform 1.6 or later. Your device needs to support OpenGL ES 2.0. QVGA display resolution is not supported currently, but we will add support for QVGA devices soon.

Angry Birds Android features mobile advertising. A future update will include the option to purchase and opt out of advertisements.

To get the game now, you can download Angry Birds on your device for free exclusively from GetJar (http://www.getjar.com/angry-birds). It will soon be available on the Android Market and Motorola SHOP4APPS, free of charge as well.

We have worked long and hard to ensure that Angry Birds gives the best possible experience on Android, and we believe we have reached our goal. We welcome our fans to see for themselves and have fun playing Angry Birds!

    Does this include iphone?

    • -5

iphone runs on iOS. this is for android.

      • +7

        The question is why umad?

    • That was a genuine question, why did someone neg this, seriously, who is negging every comment I make. Have some balls and name yourself.

      • Edit: nevermind

  • +1

Good news!!! but if it has been released as free then how is it a bargain? It is just a news not a bargain I reckon.

    • +1

      It's a freebie, freebie's are allowed here.

Of course there's lots of free crap out there that should never make it here. But I think Angry Birds is an exception because it was paid on other platforms.

        • Being able to play the full version for free (and only watch an ad. or two) is a good deal. A lot of so called "free" apps. on Apple's AppStore are like that.

At least with Android, you don't need to pay the $1.20 AUD. Sure, you might argue $1.20 with no ad. is a better option. However, there is a possibility the same thing might happen for Android users later on (maybe there will be a paid version with no ad).

The developers need to make a living somehow. This is great news for Android users (and just to be clear, I am an iPhone owner… but I like Android too).

I bought Angry Birds.. for $1.20 AUD.. why not? However, if I had a choice, I would prefer a free, full version with some ads.

          • -8

@netsurfer: yea…just so happens they dont have full angry birds+ ads.
But its not the FULL thing. If they gave a full version without the ads, ill be happy to + the deal :P

Its not that i dont like the free idea. I think its great!
but yea. Not the full full thing…

            • @[Deactivated]: If you care to read all the comments, you would notice that a paid version with no ad. is coming to Android.

So Android users will have a choice. They will get the best of both worlds. A free version with ads., a paid version without ads.

Quite sure my Android friends will be thrilled about this free full version with ads.

            • @[Deactivated]: Dude, you have to appreciate them for releasing a best-selling game for free. Ads or no ads, who bloody cares! The fact that they're doing this IS a bargain. Not to mention that it's a full version.

So what if this offer isn't for the iPhone? That doesn't mean it deserves a neg vote. Does it give anybody a right to neg an XBOX offer because the offer doesn't include PS3? Of course not.

              Stop hating.

        • -1

          Shush you wangkar.

I'm willing to sit through a couple of ads to play one of the best mobile games available.

        • are you just trying to advertise for the app you mentioned? you haven't explained why you believe its not 'free'. all you are trying to do is get people to go and look at another app. you haven't even explained how that app differs to the app in this posting.

          • -2

@01011010: no? but its the only example i can think of. Its not like its not true you know…

I think another one includes paper toss. Another HUGELY popular game. It has all the functionalities. But there is also a 'Ad-Free' Paper toss in appstore for $1.19 AUS.

            So… thats my reasoning.
Im not saying to remove this deal either. I just got this game on my wife's HTC. I just believe its not a bargain.
            :D

I think either such "free software" posts should be moved to forums or it's time to update the posting guidelines on OZbargain.
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guideline…

    Free Software(Freeware) & Free Websites
There are so many useful free software programs and websites out there that if we listed every great one, then we would be inundated with deals. Feel free to discuss any of these in one of our forums. Alternatively, add the freeware to its dedicated free software wiki page – Useful Free Software.
Examples of what you shouldn't post:
    * Software: Mozilla Firefox (Free Browser, Always Free)
    * Websites: Google (Free Search Engine, Always Free)

Examples of what you should post:
    * Software: DVB Web Scheduler Pro is now free (Normally you have to pay for it, now free)
    * Websites: Used Car Ads Free on Carbuddy.com.au (Free for now but later on not free)

    \rant\
edit: rant removed… who am i kidding… wasting my time.

    • +3

      Obviously never play Angry Birds…

      • +3

Angry Birds - normally NOT free on iPhone … now free for Android… fits the bill :)

      • obviously missed the point, or/and have NFI what's the correct terminology definition of "freeware" aka "free software".

        and you missed the rant…

anyway, have a nice life peeps. :)

  • +1

Angry Birds is $2 on Symbian, similar on iPhone.
Free games are great, but personally I'd pay the $2 to not have my UX ruined by advertisers.

    • -5

      Same. Stupid ads.

      • Ditto, personally I hate the ads. And what's the point? I never, ever click them; and not because they're not interesting enough, I just don't need the crap they're advertising, and if I did, I'd search for reviews not for flashy advertisements.

      • Use the app adfree.

  • +1

    how to download… broken link!!

  • +1

Is this the Beta Lite version from the Android Marketplace?
Cos I had it on my old iPhone but since I upgraded to a htc, I have missed playing the game…..

    • This the FULL version… but with ads.

  • +1

Enjoyed the Beta on my Dell Streak.. but the full version seems to have issues with Android 1.6 :-(
Just get a Black Screen but can hear the Sounds / Music.

    • +1

Yeah, doesn't work on my Xperia X10 either … demo did but the full one just shows black screen with sound too. Apparently the creators are aware of the bug and are working on it.

  • +1

Its not exactly the Fullest version as its missing two "episodes" of the newer iPhone and Nokia N900 versions. This is based on V1.35 whereas the iphone one is now at V1.44. The other episodes is where I think they will make their money back..

  • -2

Darn, so I suppose this won't work for my Nokia N900?

    • +1

Well nokia doesn't run android…so no

    • +1

      Lol noob

    • I'm such a noob… what with NitDroid, but okay, well.. :)

  • +1

    NICEEEEEEE! cheers!

  • +11

Really sorry haven't been able log into OzBargain until just then, because I have wasted the whole day trying to do sling shots of various birds to hit pigs' heads on my Nexus One…

  • +1

Do you still have to purchase the additional packs or 'updates' via additional purchases like on the Nokia store site?

  • +2

    Can't believe people negged this.
Basically, they will charge for this app and you'll only consider this a bargain if they charge for it first and then give it away for free?

I got this game in less than 10mins.
I used the AppBrain market, searched for 'Angry Birds' and it was the first listing that came up.

  • nice one OP :) nothing but positives from me

  • Doesn't work on my HVGA Xperia X8. Get a black screen with sound. Perhaps this device is too new.

    • -4

welcome to the wonderful world of android's fragmentation.

    • Its probably because the Xperia X8 runs a very old version of android.

      • it runs 1.6 just like the X10

  • +3

To all the stooges complaining about an awesome app with ads. [Mod removed: language] and install this:

"THIS APP IS FOR ROOTED PHONES ONLY!"

tbh, if i have no issue voiding warranty, i will have no issues cracking and installing paid apps as 'free' apps.

      • Why does everyone automatically associate rooting with piracy? Rooting is just providing administrator access to your device to give you greater control. It's not for illegal purposes, just because some people choose to do that. I own 3 Android phones and I rooted every one of them on the day I got them, not because I want to pirate apps, but so that I can unlock the full potential of the phone through root apps available on the market.

And I don't know why people are so scared about rooting their phones. It's not like you're flashing custom kernels or custom ROMs and stuff; you're just enabling root user (administrator) access. If you follow instructions, you can never harm your phone by rooting it, if anything you'll enhance its abilities.

        • +1

interesting :) i want to root my phone too! defs will look into it…hope it's easy enough.

  • This is fun hahahaha

  • Hehe! SO much fighting! This is an awesome game - enjoy it…I'm downloading it right now. Thanks to phatdroid for posting this gr8 deal :>

  • Doesn't work on my Galaxy running Galaxo 1.6.3. Just get the black screen as others have stated. Have to reboot the phone to get out of it. I'll reserve judgement until they come up with a fix and I can play the game.

  • works on my HTC DESIRE, works on telstra - didnt need to root.
