  • 600MHz for a TABLET?!

Event the iphone 4 can be clocked up to 1 GHz…and its not close to the size of a tablet AT ALL!

    • Sure, This is very responsive and there will be some reviews by Tech experts to come soon.
We don't customise the UI which allows us to use 600MHz without complicating the use of the device and provides a fast responsive unit.
We are offering the best value tablet in Australia and is a great device.

Who are these 'Tech experts' you speak of?

With the exception of HDMI, the spec is pretty much identical to any <$200 android tablets on ebay.

There is no way you can run android 2.1 properly with 600mhz CPU and 256mb of RAM. As for 1080P playback, the software can handle it. The hardware cannot. My Samsung Galaxy S at times have trouble running 1080P. It is beyond me how this one can.

As for cheap android tablets in general, prepare to be disappointed. They are just not refined enough to do anything serious.

      • Yes we provide HDMI input that allows you to connect it to your Television.
We also have produced this tablet at a fraction of the price of what Samsung Tablet and Ipad are asking for.

      • A bulk of my comment has disappeared. I don't know why this has occured. But what I wanted to say is:
        1. There is nothing about this tablet which either stand out from other cheap android devices. and
        2. the specifications cannot handle ordinary android 2.1 operations or could it run 1080P as claimed.

Also, you are comparing this with Galaxy Tab and Ipad. Shouldn't this be placed in the same league and iPed or Apad??? (there are a lot on ebay, just search android tablet)

        • The device has no issues running 2.1 and runs 1080P.
We are not comparing them, We are just offering a cheaper alternative for consumers that cant afford the $900 for a tablet.

how does this copmpair to the archos 10.1?

    • Archos is reputable brand at least.

  • android 2.1? 2.2 has been out for months, why haven't they put 2.2 on this new model?
also, does it have wifi n or is it the slower b/g?

    • What would you use 802.11n's extra speed for? How fast is your internet connection?

      • Transferring files wirelessly is alot faster with wireless n.

        • I find it a hassle, with programs like wifi explorer. If I had some large files, it's a lot easier and faster to hook up a USB cable and drag-drop a whole folder of large files over.

  • How long is the battery life with wifi on? Thanks.

    • Will run about 6-8 hours depending how you use it.

My research shows this is a Resistive touch screen. So that means it works by pressure instead of your finger. I've used these before and they are not great, but this is a reasonable price I guess.

Also be aware that 600mhz is fine for android 2.1/2.2, but thats not including any CPU hungry apps.

I'm pretty sure flash won't work, and if it does it will be too slow and I have a feeling some 3D games won't work, but its hard to know.

    Also

Its cheaper on eBay, IMO $76 for better warranty isn't worth it. This business also hasn't properly mentioned what their warranty means either..

    $214 delivered.

I wonder if millennius has a response :)

If you are trying to find ignorant customers, ozbargain is the worst place to go…

    • @samfisher59886, All comments are welcomed.
We know that for a fact that there a copy versions of every product going around. Example, you will see several versions like the Ipad, sure they look the same and same system, but there not the same and really slow and missing alot and all in Chinglish.

With that ebay seller, I would think they will be selling you chinglish software and good luck trying to warranty off them and actually provide you a service like an Australian company.

We have teamed up with smartq to make a product for the Australian market so this is not a chinese version that you can buy from china, No offense to china but they have different standards to us Australians.

      • +2

Generally good Australian products use Capacitive touch screens, yours does not appear to.

Also it has the same specs and design as your product.

if you teamed up with smartq, why would they have the exact same specs as this supposed "china fake"

Generally china fakes are inferior in some way.

That eBay seller appears to be selling the exact same thing as you.

You say the ebay product will be slow and missing a lot, but it has the same CPU and android/ubuntu like you. So you are basically saying your own product is slow?

So if we are paying extra for warranty, what are your warranty terms? How does it work?

        • What's a good fast Android tablet in the $2xx range that uses a capacitive touch screen?
The Galaxy Tab will scratch my itch, but that isn't gonna be cheap!

          • @eug: I think the main point of Samfisher's comment is that this is just a rebadged OEM Chinese tablet. It has the exact same spec and exterior as a ebay tablet but at a way higher price. Therefore where is the deal?

            • @annarchon: (i really am after a good fast android tablet that's cheap … might be a bit of a tall order)

      • I bet it is identical hardware, the software can be easily hack and tweak by end user.
Your post is kind of miss leading.

    • Really, if you're gonna compare their tablet with local support to something you buy off ebay, why don't you complain about literally EVERYTHING being sold in Australia? You can get almost anything cheaper off ebay - you just don't get to deal with a company that has to abide by Australian laws.

If something goes wrong with an ebay import, too bad, you're stuffed. With an Australian reseller, you can take it up with fair trading etc.

What happens if your ebay tablet goes into a boot loop? Or the battery is faulty and doesn't last very long? Or has weird lines appearing on the screen? Mail it back to Taiwan at your cost and wait four weeks to some news?

(being a bargain-hunter I'd probably take the risk myself, but I can understand why locally-distributed products HAVE to cost a bit more thanks to the very high labour costs here. You do get something for your $76 extra.)

      • I agree that there is additional costs for local resellers, and the 76 may be justified. But this site suppose to be about "bargains" not "free advertisement" for local businesses.

        • I see your point, at $299 it isn't a im-gonna-jump-at-this bargain. But wouldn't it still qualify as a bargain as long as there is no other local equivalent that's cheaper?

I'm personally waiting for the Archos 101 .. that'd be absolutely fantastic if they can actually stick to the us$299 price.

        • Ozbargain is free advertising, I dont pay for listings, But I really didnt try to be smart with this, I essentially was letting consumers know that this is a great deal with the cheapest MID in australia from an Australian Brand. Free 8GB sd card, Free shipping.
Sure it might have a lower processor etc, but we are not selling it for $900 it is a budget tablet for the consumers that cant or dont want to buy and waste $900 for something they wont use every single day.

    • yeah sure it may be cheaper, Those devices that have wince as well are very slow old versions of the original smartq. They look identical they may put the same specifications but how are you going to know if you have not got it into your hands yet, Then try contact these guys in hong kong, good luck.
I also noticed that they dont even include a 8gb memory card like we do.
There are also alot of devices that look exactly like the Ipad does this mean everyone should stop paying for the Australian version of $800 or go with the look a like device for $200??
If you guys really want to buy cheap stuff because of the price then go for it, Il give you a tip - You might as well buy from the usa or china as they have original products cheaper then australian products.

I am Just giving my view, but you can buy the ebay one if you like, then please tell me how you go when you need upgrades to 2.2 and when there is software issues… would be interesting.

So where's the 'bargain' part? Obviously you're just advertising your site.

No reviews anywhere, nobody else sells it, unheard of brand.

Why should I risk spending $300 when there's no mention of warranty on your site?

Under the product's warranty section - ''All Millennius Camcorder cameras come with a standard 12 months manufacturer's warranty. For Warranty Terms & Conditions, please see our'' Please see our what?

I'll happily revoke the neg if you can explain the length of warranty and how your warranty system works, if you have one.

    • +1

the bargain part is probably the free 8gb sd card?

    • just looked on the website, and there's a link to the warranty now - so might have been added. The only things I don't like in the warranty are:

6 months warranty on batteries (rest of the product is 12 months)

and the fact this sentence was used:
"As far as your Australian national laws permit"

makes the company sound like an overseas company - even though they're based in Aus?

      • +1

Interesting. After reading our comments they decided to add the warranty.

''return your Product or the affected part (if it is not the entire Product) to a Millennius Care Centre or Millennius designated service location.''

Where are the designated service locations? I'm guessing in China somewhere.

      • Yes there was an error with the link, I fixed it and couldnt post up anything as I could only post 5 comments in 24 hours.

  • @eug, really fast!
also, $300 is getting into netbook price territory, i would rather a brand name netbook for $300, this tablet would at least have to have a 800mhz-1ghz cpu to get me interested
ps i have a SmartQ5 mid, nice quality unit

  • Doesnt seem like much of a bargain at all…

  • 600mhz?

    Not today buddy!
